🚨MAJOR Miami Dolphins News: Miami Hosting Matthew Judon + Zach Sieler & De’Von Achane Injury News

[Music] Loaded edition of Miami Dolphins today by Chad Sports. I am your host Nick Rolloloff. A lot of news to cover here this morning as we enter the final week of the preseason. The Miami Dolphins are hosting Matthew Judon, one of the big nine bigname edges on a visit today. We have Zack Seer injury news as well as an injury update on Devon Achan. We will start with Matthew Judon. The report coming in from Ian Rapaort. There is a bunch of others as well. So, shout out to Jordan Schultz and Aaron Wilson that Judon is visiting Miami. some potential edge help for the Dolphins roster, which does come at a surprise considering I view the Dolphins pass rush and defensive line as maybe the most deep unit on this football team. And we’ll talk about why I might have a tin foil hat on in just a bit, but make sure you do subscribe to the channel. We are 81 away from a massive milestone, 72K. Let’s get there for rookie Jonah Saviia, but also subscribe for the top-notch Dolphins news on YouTube. All right, when you talk about Matthew Judon, Dolphins fans should know him pretty well considering he was one of the premier edge rushers about three or four years ago with the division rival New England Patriots. But before that, he was also one of the top edge rushers, which parlayed that into that contract with New England with the Baltimore Ravens. but got hurt in 2023, dealt with a shoulder issue, gets traded to Atlanta where he was not as productive as one would have hoped if you are a Falcons fan. And he really just was sliding down the depth chart to a degree to where Atlanta needed so much pass rush help. They drafted two of them in the first round this year and they traded up from second round to first round to draft another one. So Atlanta clearly viewed Judon as a player that they did not want to bring back. And when you look at his advanced numbers on Pro Football Focus, it’s clear that he is a declining player. Out of the 69 qualified edge rushers in terms of playing at least 50% of the most snaps played by a pass rusher, Judon ranked in the bottom 10 in every single metric that you want to look at. His pass rush grade 64th out of 69. His pass rush win percentage 64th out of 69. The signature pass rush stat which also equates to how many times you rushed the passer 61 out of 69. Pressures 64. Hurries 60. Like he is simply a declining player. This is not saying that he can’t contribute in a positive way to your football team. But when he is not one of the best edge rushers that the league has to offer anymore, and then you also look at the fact that he’s not really that good of a runtoppping edge rusher at this point in his career either. It’s kind of like, well, you can’t expect him to be anything legit for your football team. He is at best an third edge on your roster, but probably at this point a fourth guy. When I think of what Judon would bring to the table, you only have to take it back one year for Miami. Whatever Emanuel Abba did for you last season, that is essentially what Matthew Judon would do for you this year. Now, Emanuel Agba was your first or second edge rusher next to Job Robinson last year, which was part of the issue. Judon would likely not be that, but the point is when you watched Emanuel Agal last year, that is what Matthew Judon is currently right now. pin comment on today’s show. So, if you get hit with YouTube bad break, scroll down, let it play, and answer. Should Miami sign Matthew Judon? They very well could later today, we would have you covered. Type S for sign or type P for pass. And I did just allude that it could happen today. Well, Aaron Wilson, an NFL reporter who also had the news this morning about Judon visiting Miami, said that in this meeting, barring anything unforeseen, the Dolphins are expected to sign Judon today. That is a very fascinating way to put it is it’s almost like, all right, we want to bring you in. We want to sign you, but we just need to make sure the medicals check out and you’re not completely washed. Well, Barry Jackson actually pushed back on this report from Wilson about an hour later, saying that a source does confirm that Judon’s in the building for Miami today, but that same source said there is absolutely no negotiated deal in orally or in writing. So, right now, it could just be a visit and a I guess exploratory view on the edge rusher. Now, here is where I’ll get into. Now, I don’t completely understand why the Dolphins would sign Matthew Judon. They have just over $11 million in cap space, but when you look at this Dolphins roster, they don’t need an edge. They are pretty loaded in this position. Chop Robinson, Bradley Chub, Grayson Murphy has looked phenomenal in the preseason. Derek McClendon has looked really good as well. You also have Jaylen Phillips, Quinton Bell. You just go on and on and on. Why would Miami sign an edge? It is arguably the deepest position group the Dolphins have. When you look from top end to bottom end at the Dolphins depth chart right now in the preseason, the two positions with the most depth without hesitation, I’m giving you wide receiver and I’m giving you edge. So, why would Miami bring in a veteran into this room? Because that would only take away from Grayson Murphy, Dererick McClendon, players that we as fans kind of hope make the 53man roster because of how they’ve looked in this training camp and preseason portion of the year. Well, here comes the tinfoil hat from yours truly. Jaylen Phillips has not participated in practice for about a week. He got injured a couple weekends ago, but he tweeted out that everything is fine and he told Dolphins media is fine. Now, he has done some individual work on the side, but he has not played in the preseason game and he did not do any joint practices with the Detroit Lions this past week. So, either that injury is more serious and he is going to potentially miss time, which is why you’d want to bring in a veteran like Matthew Judon to back up Chop Robinson or Bradley Chub, or I think they will trade one of their edge rushers for a different need on the roster. We know the Miami Dolphins cornerback room is an absolute joke. Could the Dolphins trade one of their guys, not going to be Chop Robinson, but maybe a Grayson Murphy who’s been flashing? Maybe a Jaylen Phillips or Bradley Chub. Now, if I had to choose which one is more likely, it would probably be Jaylen Phillips due to him going into the final year of his contract and having more value than Bradley Chub because Chub coming off that major injury wouldn’t play last season. But could they flip Jaylen Phillips to a team that needs an edge rusher for a starting caliber cornerback? That is certainly something that we’ll have to monitor over the next couple days or so, especially if Miami ultimately signs Matthew Judon. injury news to come up. But who’s back of the week? It’s Prize Picks. Welcome Prize Picks back. That’s code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineups. Prize picks run your game. All right, appreciate prize picks once again, but now we got to get into some Miami Dolphins injury news, which is maybe a reason why the Dolphins could be interested in signing Matthew Judon as well. Following the preseason game on Saturday against Detroit, Mike McDaniel was asked about some injury news, which Miami didn’t suffer many from that game. Really, Ethan Bonner was the only player that left, but Devon Han and Zack Cer got banged up in joint practices. And McDaniel said that both Caler and Achan are going to be out between days and weeks, but will be reassessed this week in Miami. McDaniel also wanted to make sure that he is not concerned at the moment about their availability in the regular season. So even though these players might not practice or play for a couple weeks here in August, it does sound like both Zack and Ham are going to be available for week one on September 7th against the Indianapolis Colts. Like that’s the good news here. We got three weeks until week one. So, there’s time to let these guys ultimately heal up and be ready to roll. And there are a couple bad reasons for this. Like, obviously, Achan is such a vital point of this roster in in the final preseason week. You’re likely going to see a lot more of Ali Gordon, a lot more of Jaylen Wright, and then the two veterans who signed last week and Aaron Champlain and Mike Boom. Champlain who had a pretty solid play this past Saturday as well at a 26 yard carry. Um, but when you think about which injury could be more detrimental, it feels like it almost might be Devon Achan. Like we need to put him in bubble wrap because listen, I thought coming into the year that depth at running back in the running back position is the best on this Dolphins roster. I mean, Achan, I was high on secondyear RB Jaylen Wright, Ali Gordon, Alexander Madison. Well, Madison’s out for the year. Achan’s banged up. Jaylen Wright has looked horrific in the first two preseason games, averaging barely one yard a carry. Allien looked good. Yeah, but that’s your only running back that you feel good about healthy in confidence-wise right now. So, we need H Chchan to be fully healthy. Put him in bubble wrap. make sure he’s ready to roll for week one and this injury isn’t something that can reoccur over the course of this season. And when you talk about Zack Cer as well, I mean, him being out would be detrimental to this football team. He is your best defensive player. Heck, he might be your best player, period. Now, I will play devil’s advocate on myself here. I feel as if the depth on defensive line might arguably be better than the depth at running back at this point in the off season following the injury to Alexander Madison because Kenneth Grant has looked really good. Jordan Phillips has looked really good. You’ve even seen Matthew Dickerson, Zeke Biggers, and Matthew Butler all make some plays for this Dolphins defense. Like, yes, it would be very, very bad if Zack Cer missed time, but you can at least look at this and say, okay, Jordan Phillips, your fifth round defensive lineman pick out of Maryland, has been sensational. And it’s just like, okay, if Sealer misses a week or two and you have Bonito Jones, Kenneth Grant as your two starters, Jordan Phillips as your defensive lineman number three, that wouldn’t be the worst. But man, we can’t really have Zach miss much time. Which injury is more concerning in your opinion? Is it Devon Han? If it is type DA, if it’s Zach Cer, type ZS, let me know your thoughts down in the comments section. And even though I just said that Caler missing time would be detrimental. He’s your best defensive player on the roster. I honestly think it’s Devon Achan because he is so pivotal to what you do on the offensive end of the football field. His speed, his ability to catch and make people miss out of the backfield is just what makes this Dolphins offense so layered and difficult to defend. You take him off of this roster for a week or two and you rely on Jaylen Wright and Devon or Ali Gordon, not saying you can’t survive, it just probably would not be as good and as an efficient of an offense as you’d like to see. And as I mentioned, with Jordan Phillips looking so good, you can maybe have him be that defensive lineman for a couple weeks with Kenneth Grant, Bonita Jones, and survive a little bit with how good the surrounding cast is in the front seven. That will do it for today’s show. Appreciate everybody for watching this edition of Dolphins Today by Chat Sports. 1. This just shows what a COMPLETE CLOWNSHOW Grier is and why he is arguably the worst GM of all time. We need CB help HUGELY and miles ahead of any other position, and this clown is bringing in a player at a position that may be our strongest.

  2. Jaylen Phillips has to go now…his body is too fragile and we cannot count on to him be on the field. Get rid of him while he still has value AND DO NOT INVEST anymore $$ or time on him like the FO did on Terron ā€œfleeced the Dolphinsā€ Armstead!!!!

  3. I agree with you 100% nick we need corner backs at least one but I would be so happy if they signed two. If Miami could get a corner back for Phillips I would trade him right away.
