  1. O’Hearn is actually fire against lefties which has been our struggle for awhile. Hope with Merill getting some rest the outfield of Sheets, Laureano, O’Hearn gets a rhythm going

  2. Getting a little sick of the smug answers lately from Shildt. Here’s an idea, sit arraez, or just give the day off to manny since hes been ass for like a month.

We traded a ton of people for O’Hearn, fucking play him everyday

  3. Shildt really wanted him to say Arraez so he could go “oh so you’re saying Luis Arraez isn’t good? Huh? HUH?”

  4. Really don’t like how he answered that. Like a “oh you’re so smart, what would you have done?” Come on Mike. Step back from your ego, Arraez is terrible as a #2. The stats say so. And that’s hurting Tatis because he’s given nothing to hit

  5. Lil prickly, good on the press for asking, 2nd best attendance in the entire league and we merely want some answers.

  6. “Hey Mike, O’Hearn was a starter for the AL All Star team this year. Why the Fuck is he not starting every game?”…….that’d be my question if I was a reporter.

  7. “wEll WhO woUlD yoU sTaRt HiM oveR?”

c’mon Shildt, O’Hearn has the 3rd highest OPS of anyone on the team this year (and 3rd highest against lefties). Find a way to get him in the game.

  8. O’Hearn was a starting all-star player this year, Shildt’s smug answers about why he isn’t starting is getting tired. You could swap him for Arraez at 1B for starters. Typical Padres management to get a legit all-star bat and then keep him on the bench while our “stars” are flailing big time.

  9. I’m sure “a good option off the bench” is what Preller had in mind when trading away six prospects to the O’s.

  10. Well Mike, that was quite the passive aggressive bullshit

Still love ya but you need to figure out a way to get this guy in the lineup

    I wish I was that reporter, I would have given an actual answer;

    Make O’Hearn the permanent DH.

Move Arraez to the 9 slot. Drop Jackson down or put Jackson in the 2 slot when he comes back.

Not that difficult, someone pay me.

  11. I like Schildt but man does he come across as a bit of a dick to the media in some of these interviews. It’s a fair question and the “well what would you do” response is lame.

  12. Respectfully, this is not the response of a strong manager. This seems to be a sign of him acknowledging he’s under pressure. While also exposing he doesn’t know how to handle it. He has a great squad. And it’s not the team that’s being humbled, it’s him and his management style. Being smug is not the way to lead a club.

  13. If we don’t win the World Series, Mike Schildt should be the first ass out the door. Preller gave him the team of the year (and sold our future to do it) and this ass is squandering it. Useless.

  14. I wonder if Preller could intervene. Bro traded the farm for an All-Star DH and he’s riding the bench. Incredible stubbornness fron Shildt to basically ignore that he exists.

  15. Maybe the lineup card doesn’t accept special characters and he can’t figure out how to add him with the apostrophe

  16. Listen internally Shildt actually might have had discussions about this that we simply don’t know. Shildt also looks like a guy who will now not do it out of principle to not give the reporter the satisfaction of asking this question.

  17. 🗣️HEY PADRES FANS LOOK WHO WE TRADED FOR…ALL STAR RYAN O’HEARN!….but we’re going to let him rot on the bench.

  18. If he wants to give Manny a DH day as a day off, why not just slot O’Hearn in at DH and give Manny the full day rest. We have enough depth now, we can afford to give some actual days off instead of using our DH as an “off day.”

  19. You know if we get beat in the same fashion next weekend. Reporters need to keep asking these questions but don’t let him off the hook next time

  20. I get that you need to show that you have confidence in your guys but if everyone in that clubhouse is really committed to making a run then they would take any change in stride

  21. For all the talk about how the fans need to relax after the sweep, between Manny running out after the game and now this, the Padres themselves seem pretty tense.

  22. let’s keep rolling out a guy with 70 wrc+ with zero pop…I swear to god iglesias has pics of Preller snorting coke off of a “youfillintheblank”

wake the fuck up Mike and stop being a prick

  23. As a manager, you’re supposed to make the sum greater than the parts. Why’s it not happening, Shildt?

  24. PLAY O’HEARN EVERYDAY!!!! EVERYDAY DH, Sheets and Laureano in left! LFG! Get your head out of the sand and let’s go

  25. Iglesias should only be starting if an infielder has the day off. I don’t care about righty/Lefty, put the all star on the field. Even with a Lefty O’Hearn is the best option

  26. Shildt needs to go plain and simple. All this AJ did for the team and this is what we are seeing? I’d be pissed if I was him. The mismanagement is insane.
