The provenance here is that my father got polio as a child. He lived in Montana, but my family had somehow become friends with Sam Breadon. My father was sent to St. Louis for medical care, including extensive experimental orthopedic surgery. Sam Breadon and his family looked after him. Consequently, I have several signed balls from that era and Sam Breadon’s pocket watch (one of several I expect) – all gifts to my father.
