Expectations for Miami Dolphins, Chicago Bears & Cleveland Browns | THE HERD NFL w/ Colin Cowherd

Colin Cowherd is joined by Dave Wannstedt to discuss the latest preseason NFL games and expectations for this season. They start with the Chicago Bears and whether Caleb Williams can thrive under new head coach Ben Johnson. Can the Miami Dolphins bounce back this season? Why Dillon Gabriel’s comments were NOT about Shedeur Sanders and that the Cleveland Browns QB competition is a big distraction.

  1. When did you start giving "CEO" coaches any type of credit? How long have you discounted Sirianni because he's a more "CEO" type coach?

  2. I think it’s true that Ben Johnson likes running plays as if they’re choreographed. It’s probably like dancing although I know almost nothing about dance outside of watching “So You Think You Can Dance” years ago. Great show actually even for non-dancers as the talent was SO much better than “Dancing with the Stars” (DWS) (DWS is almost unwatchable.) Anyways, back to football. I think some coaches are more malleable when it comes to ad-libbing. The thing is, Caleb Williams likes to improvise. The two might get along for awhile but then Caleb will eventually regress to his old way — it’s inevitable because when things go South people regress — and then we’ll see how that relationship works. My guess is, unless Caleb really embraces Ben’s philosophy at some point one will have to go.

  3. I think Colin Cowherd is making a good point. Caleb Willians likes to extend plays and improvise while Ben Johnson seems to like truly scripted plays where players know their roles and execute them. Drop back, hit your back foot, and let it go. Ben’s style worked in Detroit because Jared Goff gets a lot of things fundamentally right and he’s a very good passer, plus Jared seems to be fine if he’s not “The Guy.” Caleb wants to be “The Guy” and in reality Ben and Caleb might not be a good match even though Caleb, if he listens to Ben, could really improve.

  4. 2 Questions:

    1. I would like to know the thoughts of Omar & Poupart on Tua's ability to call his on plays on his own?? I would like them to ask McDaniel's this Question? So many times plays take to long to get in, I just want to see a different wrinkle!!

    2. Colin Cowherd, what's his Problem with Miami Dolphins?? He's really been craping on them lately!!

  5. Well colin there's a better story Brewing, you have a 5 ft 160-lb quarterback in Carolina, you have a 190 lb kid so skinny and fast in Washington they can't catch him so we spend 3 hours watching him run out of bounds and sliding with quarterback protection rules and if a linebacker ever gets a shot on him he's going to be out for the season because he's not big enough to withstand the beating of the real game.
You have a millionaire kid in Cleveland dressing like women basketball players with one sleeve and not to be outdone the boy that paints his fingernails and cries in his mother's arms is also now wearing one sleeve and decided not to wear the Bears uniform socks and go bare-legged!? He certainly has earned the right to show off in a custom uniform right?
The spoiled millionaire kids coming out of college or making the game all about them and not the team and no one's talking about woke football.
Are you enjoying Mike McDaniels in Miami wearing women Go-Go pants. Sandals flip flops and ankle bracelets are right around the corner and so is a rating decline because of,,

WOKE FOOTBALL, you should be talking about it before it's too late

  6. Wannstedt had 4 1/2 years with the Dolphins'; he quit on the Dolphins (wasn't fired) when his methods stopped working. He's a quitter and we will never forget that in Miami. He also thought Jay Fiedler was a better option than drafting Drew Brees.

  7. Let me get this straight, Caleb has an offensive guru, top receivers, good offensive line, and an excellent TE and running back. So now Caleb is a great QB. Yet, when Purdy has his "Avengers" as Nick Wright calls them, he is a so-so QB.
