  1. Thanks John. Him and Beal were the only bright spot in Wizard history since Gilbert and I doubt this franchise will have one in the nearest future.

  2. He’s made $276,483,708 in his career. Massive bag. By comparison, Kyrie Irving has made $311,135,171.

  3. John Wall is going to be like the Kevin Johnson of his generation. Great player, but people 20 years from now will have no idea who he is. Too many other great guards played at the same time.

  4. Was electric to watch and had a fun song to boot. Would have loved to been wowed with his speed with how open the floor is nowadays.

  5. John slipping down the stairs in his own home and tearing his Achilles in 2019 is our generations version of Larry Bird throwing out his back whilst tarmacing his mums driveway in 1985.

  6. While he never really became a superstar, he was fun to watch and a good face of the franchise for the Wizards for years.

Also he made an insane amount of money in just 11 seasons.

  7. One of my favorite 2k Pgs of all time. Strip any ball handler and sprint to the basket

  8. Wow, damn. Not even six months ago he was talking about how he felt like he had a few years left in him. Would have been interesting to see him tear it up overseas.

  9. Time truly flies. Anyone remember how annoying he was in NBA 2k11 when playing against him as a Point guard during NBA draft combine games lol

  10. My favorite player of all time. I was hoping the Wizards would let him sign for a day to retire as a Wizard…

Goodnight from DC to guard, 6’4, from Kentucky, number 2, John WALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

  11. Fuck I feel bad for him. Everyone was rolling their eyes he was collecting his bag and not playing. But you hear him interviewed and he said he was suicidal.

These guys sense of self is basketball. He was lost and depressed.

Then came back and hits a few bucks in summer league, screaming “I am him!”
Feels jacked up, probably thought he was “back”

One season with clippers and then none and nobody wants him. Hope he’s ok.

  12. He gave all of himself and more to this city, The King of DC. Wizkid to Wallstar Do your dance John Wall👑

  13. He got me into the NBA. His buzzer beater against Boston is much favorite sports memory of all time. My first jersey as well. I’m gonna miss you brother.

  14. Special in his prime. Getting the wizards to a game 7 in the second round. Pathetic as this sounds is a gahdamn achievement. I’ll always remember his game 6 buzzer beating winner against the Celtics.

All time athlete and passer who could give you 40 if he had to. I’m glad he was a wizard but could you imagine how great he could have been if he hadn’t been on the wizards?!?!?!?

  15. 647 regular season games. Averaged 58 per season. 4 seasons of 70 or more games (82, 79, 77, 78), all in a row. Made the all-star team each one of those 4 seasons and then the next where he played 41 games, had his left knee scoped, and never played more than 40 games in a season again (including 2 seasons he missed entirely).

  16. o7, sad to see his career to go down but those injuries were just the worst ones for his archetype.

My first ever pair of basketball shoes was a gift from my parents and it was a pair of J Wall 1 from Adidas, to this day I still have that pair (for keepsakes). So this retirement hits a bit harder

  17. I feel old. I remember in 2010? NCAA Final Four party with Stone Temple Pilots. Indianapolis.

Before the show the local radio station interviewed him and a few other guys. Talking about the NBA draft and how excited he was. I think Cousins was there too.

Getting to see these giants in person is wild. The height difference to normal people man. Insane.

  18. My favorite pure point guard to watch in this scoring guard era. He was very good

  19. I saw him play against the Warriors in the early Splash Brothers era. Once he fouled out, that was pretty much checkmate

  20. Too bad he started having all of those injuries, but he definitely had a nice run. Seeing what he did with Marcin Gortat was a solid display of early 2010s basketball.

I remember when I first moved to LA 15 years ago and went to some club in Hollywood and saw him, Westbrook, Serge Ibaka, Harden etc. They were all just young guys making their mark in the league.

I’m from Chicago so D. Rose was my guy, but once he started getting injured John Wall put me on notice. I actually thought Washington was going to really be competing with the Raptors and Celtics during LeBron’s second Cleveland run.

  21. I could’ve swore I read this two years ago.

2017 Celtics-Wizards ECSF is my favorite non NBA Finals playoff series. Both those teams left it all on the floor. Godspeed on your next chapter, Mr. Wall. Thanks for leading a fun group of antagonists!

  22. At his peak in 16-17, John Wall was one of the most fun players to watch. Sucks that injuries hindered his impact afterwards

  23. Dude was explosive with a rare mix of insane speed and tight handles. The Wall and Beal combo should have been more successful but injuries messed that up as well as not good supporting casts

  24. I’m really getting old huh. I remember playing against john wall in that fucking 2k summer league combine and getting torched every time.

  25. Only 604 games total, 37 playoff games. A mixture of bad rosters and injuries really robbed him of a brighter time in the league.
