The game was great last night. The Giants played well and it was nice to catch in reality rather than through a screen. I do have to say though, the Pads fans last night were whiney and booed Ramos through the whole game for just playing ball. Was super disappointing but my girl and I had a blast anyway. (Also peeped a couple Giants fans getting thrown out of the game. Don’t forget to act respectful at other teams parks y’all!)

Yup Padres fans started acting up once they had a taste of winning
Fans boo and heckle padres players at Oracle also so I wouldn’t get offended
What was your take on the fan interference. Looks like you had a great view of it. /s
A fanbase can tend to be that way when their franchise has been around since 1969, and hasn’t won anything. Zilch. Zero. Nada.
You’ll live.
It’s probably good banter. Just remind them they gotta win it all
I’m taking a trip to Petco on Thursday. Did anyone give you trouble for wearing giants gear?
Sorta sad it’s creeped into most parks now. When I go to Dodger stadium with my wife I now only go full Giants gear (official Posey 2010 WS Jersey, Giants cap, orange & black shoes) if we sit in the field level at least several sections in from the foul pole or on the infield. Then I have no issues due to the cost of the seats. Otherwise I’ve had peanuts thrown at me, been verbally abused & almost had my cap snatched & tossed elsewhere in the crowd like a few other unlucky Giants fans near me.
An opposing player was booed…after that player antagonized an entire section of your fans by jawing at them! Ramos was going at it with LF bleachers and it was the only thing to watch during a 5 minute break. It’s sport and he knew it was coming when he started chirping back at fans.
Now if someone threw something at him…that would be seriously disappointing and goes beyond sport. If he didn’t chirp or make gestures at fans, then I would also be slightly disappointed.
tl;dr they weren’t booing Ramos for playing ball, they were booing Ramos for chirping back at them. They were defending their own!
I mean that’s what it’s like at an opposing park.
Did you ever hear the woman in the left field bleachers at Oracle, with the whole, “whatsamatta with………..?”
Padres fans are the saddest bunch. Only California team without a world series win and act like they are the baddest team when they get a couple playoff appearances. They have to realize were only rooting for the team so the dodgers llose
The MaxiPads?
As a SoCal Giants fan. I take the extra 1.5hrs drive to Petco over Dodger stadium. The park is much nicer, the fans are a lot more tolerable, and parking/traffic is a lot better.
Just my personal experience:
There’s definitely something to in-division rivalry (still not Dodgers level obviously) but Petco is the only place I’ve been consistently crapped on for wearing Giants gear. The few seasons of relative success have given Padres fans an ego. I’ve had fans yell at me and just generally be jerks without any interaction on my part. A bummer for sure, especially because I’ve never really felt any animosity towards the Padres.
Compared to other parks I’ve been to wearing Giants gear (Seattle, Miami, Pittsburgh, both NY, Tampa, Baltimore, Boston, both Chicago, Colorado) where nobody has said anything rude. Also I don’t recall hearing opposing fans ever being yelled at in Oracle, but that may just be confirmation bias.
All of that being said, I still won’t wear Giants gear to LA.
I got cussed out on day after opening day. Foo didn’t even have gas money for me to get back to NorCal.
There shouldn’t be a single upvote on this post. We harass players all the time from the stands. Why shouldn’t visiting fans?
Planning on going tonight in my jersey, hope it’s smooth sailing!
Upper deck always classy
Old school Padres fans were cool; they had lots of scar tissue and had been across Death Valley many times.
The newer ones, not so much. They are rather entitled for fans of a team that still has an empty trophy case.
I was at the game as well!
After the Giants posted 4 runs in the 1st, and the home run interference call, the fans were pissed lol. And I don’t blame them! It wasn’t until I got home and rewatched the play that I saw the interference, it wasn’t easy to see on the Jumbotron. Then Ray started dealing and they got more sour as the game went on. It was hardly a problem at least for us
You’re telling me that fans booed the opposing players? That’s horrible, did you call the police?
That’s it? That’s nothing, sounds like a great time, no one got injured or hurt by taking things far too seriously
Booed Ramos all night? Yeah just like I boo Tatis Jr. All night when he plays the Giants or Max Muncy, or Sterling Marte etc.
I sat in the outfield at Dodgers stadium during the Bonds era. It was NOT friendly. But still fun at the same time!
Do both! Lol
Of course padres fans would boo giants players i mean what. San Diego fans are pretty cool to me tbh
I went a couple weeks ago. That stadium is obscenely loud. I don’t mean with fan noise. The pumped in music at literally every turn and copious amounts of base is nauseating. Maybe I’m just an old fart at this point…
Honestly this is why I love going to Giant’s games at Petco. Its just a bunch of (friendly) shit talking and ball busting back forth (that and its a great ballpark).
Last time I was down there we won and after the game (and a bit tipsy) we walked into a local bar wearing our hats and jerseys (jokingly) like we owned the place. Shenanigans ensued and some Padres fans bought us a few rounds. It’s all good fun.
Usually Pads fans are cool. They were awesome when I was there to witness Timmy’s first no-no.
You’re at an opposing ballpark its gonna happen, there was plenty to boo ramos for after his smirking and engagement w the crowd during the overturned HR. I love pads fans they’re respectful and passionate
I was there too, the fans down in SD are very passionate. Fans at Oracle would do the same in that situation 100% of the time! Love Petco park.
