In what world is a hockey player delaying re-signing a contract be considered good news? Especially if said hockey player said he wants to see management present a clear path to winning/winning multiple championship… and then management not only didn't improve the team in the offseason but rearranged the team's structure to take another 2-3 seasons redevelop again. Connor isn't in a rush because he is stuck in a bad place. He definitely wants to stay in Edmonton but he sees his championship window closing. A rock and a hard place. So he's holding out to see if the situation improves. My own take is that he probably doesn't have the guts to jump ship yet but will sign a two year bridge deal and that will be the unequivocal writing on the wall. Win now or I'm gone.
Can you blame McDavid if chooses not to resign? The management did a good job building the team around him, but not GOOD ENOUGH
Edmonton is the best fit, opportunity, and chance for his career. Leo, Bouch, Nuge, Hyman, Savioe, Howard, Ekholm, Wallman is the best core for him to win a cup. Ppl think if he walks, the Oilers are automatically worse than whoever he signs with. McDavid will get 18-20 mil on open market. Would have to shake up the team to move out cap or if you have a roster with that money, 100% guaranteed the roster is not better then the Oilers (without McDavid)

He'll resign before the season starts
