  1. DUMBEST Pro Hockey problem: NOT allowing NHL clubs to have THEIR drafted players have a year in the AHL at age 18. pathetic. These players need that adjustment year to go from Junior or College before they hit the NHL. I agree with Steve about that one year, but Cowan will waste a year now where he should have been there 1 year earlier. The CHL is pathetic and the NHL should have run them through the ringer to lose that stupid rule. Where in Europe or Russia do they push that year 18 like the CHL does? just pathetic.

  2. Give it a rest. Easton Cowan is waivers exempt and will need to have an extremely impressive training camp to force another roster player onto the waiver wire. The easiest decision in the world would be to have him on the Marlies and available for a mid season injury call up which would not be complicated by waivers.

  3. I don’t see a roster spot for Cowan unless he has an incredible camp/preseason. He should spend at least one year with the Marlies and get a roster spot for the following 2026-2027 season
