  1. i don't want it to be a knee jerk reaction but they really need to consider using Skylar Thompson and Trading Mason to a team that needs a backup like The Saints. the have a receiver we could use. we have a QB and a pick they could use. they're not going to do shit this season period.

  2. Y. Black is amazing. Disrupting virtually every play he was in. Our run stop and D-line may be the best in NFL when all the 1's play. #27 Trey Sermon best downhill runner RB of game; #33 rookie Sawyer was huge too. #13 showing up. Skyler is a clear QB 2.

  3. Skylar is poised. Okay. That doesn't mean we should kick Mason to the curbside. Overall I was impressed with the play-calling. Everyone was up to speed. We're not as predictable either. The O line is improving too. Also that left- footed field goal kicker was on point in case Boswell goes down. Here We Go! πŸ–€ πŸ’›

  4. It is preseason, but all I am seeing is more Tomlin. The secondary is not preventing catches, as usual. Had big hopes for Mason turning the corner, but he is still not looking off defenders. Just eyes on the intended target only from snap to pass – hence the interceptions. Watch the games, past and present, focus on his head movement. Finally, O line has got to do better. Give the QB some time. All of this is concerning because these are all the same weaknesses we have seen since Cowher's guys retired / moved on. It is just a signature blind spot or inability to coach certain aspects of the game and players. Mason needs a coach to unleash the obvious talent. The zone blitz defense needs to be refreshed because there is no stopping movement when the blitz fails. Unlike last year, the DBs were playing with real effort, but the scheme and coaching just isn't working. It is not enough to tackle quickly. At some point, ya gotta stop completions. None of this would be a major concern if it weren't more than a decade of the same ole same ole that keeps us from finishing, and the only common component is the HC.

  5. Skylar definitely has looked a lot better than Mason this preseason. He did play against lesser competition but at the same time, he found the open receivers and hit them with the ball. Also seems to have some good athleticism. They definitely should think hard about what to do there. Plus Mason is a trumptard so wouldn't mind dumping him for someone with what appears to be more upside. Definitely a LOT to clean up on defense. Especially the tackling. And the holding on offense was a big problem. Might have been a little bit of this officiating crew being a little excessive but definitely something they need to clean up. JW needs to get some better cleats. Dudes gonna pull something with all that slipping.
