“I’m told that the Warriors have called the Lakers on multiple occasions over the past 18 months to see whether there is any trade pathway to to pairing James with Stephen Curry, who roughly a year ago at this time was teaming with LeBron for the United States senior men’s national team on its run to a gold medal at the Paris Olympics.”

  1. I have a feeling that the Warriors are going to struggle to rebuild once Steph retires.

  2. Couldn’t James have opted out and become a free agent and signed with the Warriors? Legit question. Didn’t pay much attention to his contract stuff.

  3. yes they can be paired. Rather than sending LeBron out for scraps you guys send Steph over for our scraps.

  4. It would be amazing to see these guys team up, even if they’re both no where near their primes.

  5. Jimmy would actually be a better fit with Luka. Defers but can take people one on one. Defense, toughness.

  6. This would be sick why not! Imagine every night seeing bron and curry on the court together

  7. warriors have 9 guys on their active roster and they’re focused on trading for lebron james lol.

  8. Easy, just send Curry to the Lakers for Austin Reaves and a 6th round pick in next year’s NFL draft.

  9. The NBA is heading in a good direction with all the young talent out there. We don’t need this monstrosity to boost ratings

  10. I’ve always thought that Mike Dunleavy Jr. has no idea what he’s doing since he was promoted to VP of basketball operations in 2021. I’m not surprised by this.

  11. “I was just thinking the same thing about pairing steph and luka” -if i was pelinka

  12. Let me guess, GSW is willing to part with some 2nd round picks and fringe bench players for James?

  13. Kuminga’s contract won’t even come close to matching Lebron’s.

The only “realistic” trade would be Jimmy for Lebron. The contracts match but since trade would have to include Kuminga, the Lakers now have to send back about 22-25 extra millions to Golden State. And no, Maxi and Gabe would be rejected. You would have to add Rui, Bronny and someone else. The warriors would send a pick on top as courtesy.

And yes, this trade is way, way, WAY more difficult than the Luka trade. The logistic for it would be a hell that, in my opinion, nobody wants to go through. Starting for Bron.

  14. I mean, I don’t think a Steph-LeBron team is winning a title this year (assuming reasonable roster construction around them).

But I think that team would be certified Fun As Hell.

They had real synergy on Team USA.

  15. Dubs trade for LeBron. Hornets get inspired to make the most Hornets move ever and trade for Bronny. Bronny and Seth take down Steph and LeBron in the Finals. The script writes itself.

  16. If LeBron wanted to leave I’d be glad to see him on the warriors. It just sucks the warriors only asset is podz

  17. Fisher really knows how to get attention when everyone else is on vacation. This is very old news.

  18. Everyone who expects/hopes the Warriors will be bottom feeders after Curry retires is going to be really disappointed.

They’ve stacked all their big contracts to have tons of cap space for the off season after Curry’s likely last season.

They own all their own 1sts (outside of a top 20 protected to washington in 2030 that becomes a 2nd the next year if it doesn’t convey).

They will have a lot of optionality when Curry retires to either sign a big name free agent or two and stay competitive or else use their cap space to take on bad money with picks and prospects attached to do an OKC style rebuild.

This ain’t the Cohan Warriors anymore baby.

  19. Everyone knows you can’t aggregate salaries in a sign and trade, right?

Warriors would have to wait 2 months after Kuminga is signed to aggregate his salary.

  20. The fact that this is even a plan on the Warriors’ front office radar tells us everything we need to know about how bad things are going to get for them in the future. This is a bad front office with bad ideas and they should feel bad.
