Jets, avalanche, and leafs all got more depth than last year, but at the cost of their top wingers
11:45 i didnt realize that the Jets lost against Winnipeg that year
They’ve got to rest Hellebuyck more games so he is Playoff Ready. Hellebuyck also needs to work on his away game performance during the post-season. Officials that refuse to call penalties because the affected team’s power play is that good is nothing short of pure corruption.
LETS GOO WINNIPEG!! 🎉
The Jets are definitely taking a step back, but are 100% making the playoffs again. Definitely one of the strongest in the West and could make a deep run if they get their playoff problems under control! We could see a THIRD consecutive Vezina for Hellebuyck and potentially a Hart if they have another incredible season. I’m going with 2nd with anywhere between 104-110 points and battling Dallas in the first round, although anywhere from 1st to 3rd is possible.
100% agree on the Comrie situation. He is a solid backup netminder, team defense hung him out to dry last season.
I really don’t know why he is the focus for some fans, he’s fine. What we need is Hellebuyck better rested heading into the playoffs. Comrie is more than capable of picking up another 10 games and keeping us in a playoff spot, they just need to get Bucky on board with sitting more.
11:50 "2023 They lost in the first round against Winnipeg in 5". Shannon, you are an incredible and hard working man,
But these mishaps bug the shit outta me lmao
11:45 they beat themselves in the playoffs. lol Sounds about right
I always root for the Jets. I guess they've disappointed in the playoffs, especially that year losing to Montreal, which was ridiculous. But they do all right, considering the disadvantages of playing in a small and undesirable market. You got to take your successes where they come and a President's Trophy ain't bad. It's better than a lot of other teams have done.
11:47 Winnipeg loses in 5 to Winnipeg
The playoffs are such a grind and a crapshoot as far as injuries. When healthy, the Jets can dominate in all 3 zones…but if one or more of the stars go down they become vulnerable. I love these guys, but the injuries seem to pile up during the postseason. Don't get me started on the crap the refs allow…
They can definitely do it again, but they have got to like u said rest hellybuck, cant keep riding goalies 60+ games a yr with how fast the league has gotten.
There are a few prospects that you could have added including Kevin He and Alfons Freij, but overall, great video. Couldn't have said it all better if I had years to practice.
Go Jets.
Just gonna say one more time, that Hellebuyck's "collapses" in the playoffs have simultaneously been the team's collapses, as when we struggled in road games (or when our net got lit up a bunch in a short pocket of minutes), it was every player on the ice with flat tires letting quality chances on-net. And that goes for the Vegas and Colorado series, too. It can't be an entire playoff team against our goaltender, then we say, Well you want your goalie to make a save there. Well, yeah. But where was the rest of the team in those moments? Scoring away from home was a big issue, too. That said, yeah you want his goals saved above expected way, way higher in the playoffs.
Anyway, we were right there with the Dallas series, one that seemed determined by a bounce or two. Coulda gone either way.😀
I would add Keven He to the top prospects.
It’s gonna be the same as last year or worse.
I don't like their chances in the STACKED Central division, especially not with a netminder that doesn't show-up for big games. Colorado and Dallas are the teams to beat, of course, you got Minny free of buyout penalties, St. Louis with a full year under their new coach and Utah looking to take the next step. ONE good team in this division will miss the playoffs and their fans will rage at the mediocre 3rd place team in the Pacific that make it with less points. I say they regress/teams are ready for them this season. 3rd place or 1st WC.
A regular season team that can't get over the hump. Losing Ehlers hurts and Toews is a question mark. Should still be a playoff team. 3rd in the Central with 101-106 points.
I know this a Whalers video and not pens, but if memory serves, when the Pens finished their regular season, the top 3 scorers in the NHL were all Pens (Mario, Jags and Francis). Later that night Joe Sakic I believe passed Francis. But wow, having the 3 best scorers (and Nedved was great that year) is something else.
The problem with the Jets is…they just are not built for the playoffs, Regular season sure but not the rough and tumble of the playoffs. Also their D is too small. They have the President’s banner now so hopefully they have learned that means jack and to not worry about it again.
This is going to be a huge season for playoff bound teams to practice load management for their stars. After deciding to have both an All Star Weekend and the Olympics in the middle of the same season, to try to alleviate the excessive schedule compression the NHL brass have taken the bold move of starting the season three days early… Players like Hellebuyck, who are likely to be at both the All Star Weekend and the Olympics, will find it that much harder to not start the playoffs injured and/or exhausted.
