Sharks’ Power Play PRIMED TO EXPLODE | Can Consistent Personnel IGNITE Scoring Explosion?
The San Jose Sharks’ power play is set for a significant upgrade in the 2025-26 season. JD Young examines three crucial elements driving this anticipated improvement.
John Klingberg’s arrival addresses the point player issue, bringing his proven power play expertise to San Jose. A stable core group featuring Macklin Celebrini, Will Smith, and William Eklund is expected to develop chemistry and enhance performance. Increased forward depth, including new addition Jeff Skinner, offers more options for both power play units.
Young forecasts a substantial improvement from last season’s 26th-ranked power play, potentially reaching mid-league efficiency. He discusses how even a modest increase to 20-22% could significantly impact the Sharks’ overall success. The combination of Klingberg’s quarterbacking, consistent personnel, and improved depth sets the stage for a potentially game-changing special teams transformation.
This episode explores how these power play enhancements could reshape the Sharks’ offensive strategy and win column in the upcoming season.

Awesome work JD keep it up 👆
Excellent video JD! Really enjoyed the episode. My question for you is who do you think makes up the two PP units? You pretty much named them, but I am curious who you see making PP2. Interested minds want to know.
unit 1: Klingberg-Eklund-Clelebrini-Toffoli-Smith
unit 2: Dickinson-Misa-Skinner-Graf-Gaudette(?)
unit 1 is legit
unit 2 is more questionable (including 2 rookies), but its got a lot of talent, enough to make a difference.
So you're saying we're gonna go back to smelling blood in the water?? 🩸🌊🦈🦈🦈
JD, love your videos! I’ve been wondering since the sharks are at 51 contracts and have to be at 50 either before camp
Or before the 1st game. To sign Misa don’t we need to move 2 contracts? Who do you think we waive/ trade/ terminate to get under this threshold?
I also know Grier in the pat has acquired a player or two off waivers each training camp/ begining of the season (Eysimont, Embersom etc) do you think we move 3+ guys out to free up some options to claim someone enticing?
