  1. Thank God JT is on this roster. Just think where the Cubs, and all of these guys that would crumble due to their inability to overcome adversity without JT’s fatherly advice

  2. The moment this guy retires, I want to bring him in as a coach. I don’t care which one, but his presence does a lot for the team.

  3. I’m so glad I don’t have to root against this guy anymore. He was a fucking terror.

  4. I wouldn’t mind at all if after this year he became a bench coach or something similar

  5. When older past their prime free agents are signed to teams for “veteran presence” purposes – this is what they mean

  6. I think Turner is going to make a great coach after he retires if that’s what he wants to do. He’s a guy who experienced some very high peaks in his career but had to struggle to get to that point. He has the credibility with players because of what he accomplished when he was at his own but he also wasn’t so otherworldly good that he would struggle to relate to the average player. That’s a rare combination because usually the guys who were good enough players for that to carry weight in how others view them were too good of a player to understand the struggles of the average guys who aren’t stars.

  7. These are humans with real emotions. They feel every moment way harder than we, fans, do. Talk shit about owners, talk shit about managers, but the players are doing their best and booing them isn’t fixing anything.

Really happy to see Turner seeming to enjoy his time in Chicago!

  8. I know a lot of people have given JT some shit but he wants this. He might not be in his prime but the presence of a man who wants to win and had to convince the front office to be on this team says a lot about what he sees in this team and it’s showing in the emotion he shows and the effect he has on the team.
