It might not be directly related to the Padres, but it can be indirectly relevant as he shares the same mindset as a lot of San Diego natives and Padres fans when it comes to the Chargers.

San Diego Native Mickey Moniak says, "I was a Chargers fan growing up and they left…You can't leave San Diego and go to LA and expect me to still be a fan."

  1. I’m still an avid Chargers fan but that says more about my willingness to be abused than anything else πŸ˜‚

  2. Mickey Moniak, you have my utmost respect!

    Fuck Dean Spa-nos!

  3. Finally. People that get it. Will never forget our star players supporting the dodgers the year they left. Rocking jerseys as they walk in the stadium, throwing out first pitches, social media supporting the boys in blue. Junior would be rolling his grave.

  4. I was watching this and let out a β€œfuck yeah, Mickey” when he said thatΒ

  5. I agree with this line of thinking. You abandon us, I abandon you

    End of discussion

  6. Between the Padres and SDFC both doing the way they are, it’s starting to feel like losing Dean’s clown show was an upgrade.

  7. Based. I won’t fault someone for supporting them, but I won’t ever root for the chargers

  8. I used to be a Raiders and A’s fan, exactly same boat. FJF, FDS, FTD

Except I was cool and always hated the Chargers πŸ˜‰

  9. Yeah, I’m always surprised when I find a Chargers fan that’s San Diegan now. Most people I know cut them off and wish them ill.

  10. That is very much how I feel. I’m a San Diego boy, through and through. I don’t root for LA teams, because I’m a San Diego boy. You don’t see us filling up Clippers games, you know why? They’re an LA team.

  11. I completely stopped watching football after the Chargers left. I have not seen a pro game in YEARS. F the chargers and F the Spanos family

  12. I remember Mickey from when he played Little League. It’s been fun to watch his career. This confirms that he’s the good kid I thought he was. The Chargers are dead to me.

  13. Outside of the Super Bowl I stopped watching nfl entirely when the chargers moved, and the Super Bowl is more just because it’s a fun social event to get together with friends and watch and have snacks, not because I’m invested in the game on its own.

  14. Fuck the Chargers and it would be nice if the local media would stop covering them so much.

  15. Same for me……and hundreds of thousands of other Diegans. It’s really rare to see Bolt merch or car stickers nowadays.

  16. Yeah, not to be dramatic, but the Chargers have been dead to me since they left.

  17. I would accept them again IF they returned under new ownership and they financed a new stadium instead of trying to make the taxpayers of San Diego foot most of the bill. As if we don’t already pay enough in ticket sales, concessions, event parking, and merchandise
