The one-of-a-kind Jordan and Bryant 2007-08 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection dual Logoman (the NBA logo patch from each of their game-worn jerseys) autographed patch card sold for $12.932 million through Heritage Auctions early Sunday morning. It’s now the most expensive sports card ever sold. Heritage’s estimated value for the card going into the auction was $6 million, just above the previous record sale for a basketball card.

  6. Best card I ever pulled was a Richard Hamilton jersey card in 05, still proud as hell of that, never been a big collector but this card is so cold

  8. That card is the second most expensive sports collectible ever: only thing ahead of it is the jersey of Babe Ruth from 1932 when he famously called his HR.

  9. It’s funny to think that instead of selling a single jersey for $10,000 (random number), they can just split it into multiple tiny 1″x1″ squares and sell each square for $1000 instead.

  12. I got to see this card in person pre auction. They set up the whole room with the old lakers locker room with game worn jerseys and shirts. Cause the lakers did a renovation this summer they sold the lockers in an auction. It was crazy.

  13. Someone ELI5 – why are sports cards so valuable? What value do they have besides having a signature and a photo of the player? Is it an artistic thing that people frame and display in their home? I really don’t get it
