Padres vs Mariners Postgame Wrap Up Show: Mariners 9 Padres 6
The Padres dropped the opener of a three-game series in Seattle and in the process fell a game behind the Dodgers in the NL West. For the first time since 2021, the Padres lost a game when hitting four or more homers. Fernando Tatis Jr. ended his month-long homerless streak in the loss.

Dodgers are getting a bunch of their best guys back this week. Muncy, Kike, , Tanner Scott, and soon Edmunds and Brusdar Graterol. That is going to gas the guys up.
All the geniuses mad at Shildt for keeping Morgan in this game one out too long are the same people who were mad at Shildt for not pitching Morgan in Sunday's Dodger game. The reality is good relievers have some bad games every once in a while. If you pull them the second they walk a batter or two then you burn through your bullpen arms to the point that they're never fresh.
padres get too amped up playing LA. The very next game is a loss. 2025 padres 0-4. 2024 padres 1-3
Here are the Padres optimal lineups with expected runs per game (wrc+)
Vs. RHP (5.44 r/g)
Laureano lf 162
Tati rf 144
Machado 3b 136
O'Hearn 1b 130
Merrill cf 120
Cronenworth 2b 119
Sheets dh 119
Bogaerts ss 98
Fermin c 97
Vs. LHP (4.69 r/g)
O'Hearn 1b 148
Machado 3b 131
Laureano lf 123
Bogaerts ss 118
Iglesias dh 111
Cronenworth 2b 104
Tati rf 90
Merrill cf 78
Diaz c 53
rotate Iglesias into infield vs LHP if you need to rest others down the stretch. For context, Padres 2025 average 4.20 runs/game.
They got plenty of punch to win it all with these lineups. Give more ABs to your best hitters.
Good luck kids!
Manny looks tired. Bat speed very slow.
Sometimes players make managers look like a genius and sometimes they make them look bad.
Padres found some rare lumber but it couldn't match up to Seattles.π‘π€πͺ΅π±
Padre fans, imagine being a Mariners fan. Now that would be frustrating!
