  1. My feeling is that it's one thing for the Angels to offer an extension, but it's a whole 'nother thing for Neto to accept one. I wouldn't blame him at all if he tests the free agency market once he's able to. Especially seeing how the Angels have managed after locking Trout up for over a decade.

  3. Neto is the future lock him up and the pitching isn't horrible this year maybe add a couple more pieces and hopefully next season playoffs because ain't looking good for this season it's not looking horrible but Angels would have to lock in and mariners would have to fall off or astros

  4. I hope we don't lose this electric and dynamic young brother. Zach Neto is most definitely the future of Angels baseball and MUST be paid accordingly.

  6. Well, looks like I was right again as Angels continue to NEVER get above .500 during 2nd half and another season wasted. Highlight of the year will probably be sweeping the Dodgers twice, but if anyone is happy about that they are delusional as this means nothing if team can't even reach PS

  8. Great show, guys! I would hate to lose Neto, but would completely understand if he wanted to try his luck on the market.

    Man, that Rendon contract is like a ghost that won't stop haunting us. Can't wait for that nonsense to be done.

  9. WHY would Neto sign here? He doesn't want to go the Mike Trout route and play meaningless games for a team incapable of making the playoffs year after year. There is ZERO reason to believe that this team will be anymore successful 10 years down the road!

  10. A big problem with waiting another year or two to try and sign Neto to a longterm deal is that he will be a year or two closer to his Free Agency year. That means that the risk of Neto turning down "the bird in the hand" kind of deal is far less. The Red Sox failed to work out an extension with Mookie Betts before his 2018 MVP season, and when they tried to negotiate with him in the winter of 2019, Mookie was just 2 years from FA and was determined to test the market… reportedly turning down a $300 million deal. The RSox were financially hamstrung, having gone way over the Cap in order to win it all in 2018 and were not willing/able to go farther into Cap Hell. (Ironically, after his trade to the Dodgers after the 2019 season, Mookie DID sign a deal before FA, but only because Covid had thrown so much uncertainty into the future of the sport.)

  11. Waiting for the Rendon contract to expire should not be a major concern. You can always structure the deal with a low amount in 2026 (commensurate to the expected arb award) and then make it up in subsequent years. I know MLB is starting to police the more absurd type of manipulations, but this one should be less egregious than most.
