The last paragraph really hits home hard.

  1. They can and they will continue to squander this gift. Winning is expensive and the Pirates will never spend as long as Nutting owns the team.

  2. Why? They wasted the last 40 years, why would they give any fucks about wasting skenes?

I’m so sick of pretending like it’s going to happen someday.

  3. lol out of market writers dabbling in Pirates shit for some reason are so stupid.

Here’s the correct take every time:

    Sell the team

    Salary cap

  4. Eh? other thank the w/l record it doesnt super matter what team a pitcher is on. Plenty of amazing pitchers are only gonna win it all once or twice in a career, and plenty of mediocre pitchers end up on some super team and take it a few times themselves.

Justin Verlander only won 2 titles for all his years in the league, doesnt mean he isnt going to be a instant hall of famer when he calls it quits.

    Pitchers aren’t quarterbacks.

  5. Do not challenge this organization to find an even deeper and colder rock bottom to sink to

  6. He’s already been wasted. They have realistically a 4-5 year window with him. Last year was year 1 this year is year 2, 26 is year 3, 27 is year 4. I fully expect him to be traded after 27 because he’ll be to expensive.

Due to inept development and player acquisition this team has 1 potential impact hitter near the MLB level. Every other hitter that showed potential in the upper minors has struggled and never recovered in Pittsburgh. The next hitter to establish themselves in the majors as an average player (2 war) will be the first developed under this management team. They screwed the golden goose.

  7. COUNTERPOINT: As long as the bottom line shows a nice profit, the Pirates organization don’t care what anyone else thinks.
