19. In a Fields offense so far in his career, WR2 is an afterthought, and WR3 might as well not exist. It might be strange, but wouldn't surprise me if Jets honestly run 12 personnel (or even 2 back/2 TE) 90% of the time, roster full of TEs, most known more for pass catching and 2 great run-blocking WRs. But as you also pointed out, 2 spots open on PS and there could be more moves in the works. We'll see.

Let's just put into the record some things that you and Tyson nailed it on: (1) Getting another TE after the cuts (2) Losing JBC if we cut him (3) Cutting both Cook and Martinez, not caring if somebody claims Martinez, and putting Cook on the practice squad. A couple of these other weird moves I don't think anybody predicted. Although I did say that Johnson and Reynolds didn't show enough to be locks for the roster. I certainly like the idea of Johnson, B Smith, Pritchett, and Skinner fighting it out to get onto the roster during the season. And I think the five WRs means they're seriously looking to add another veteran. I doubt they're going to find anything much better than Johnson, though. I also don't think we're going to keep five TE's for very long, even if you do count Beck as a TE.

41. I think they maybe trying to lure a WR away from somebody. It's not difficult to see what the team needs, and a WR who wants to win or be on a competitive team may request a trade to NYJ.

    But the big question is what they, the NYJ, give up?

    I wouldn't give more than a 6th rd pick from 2027 or 2028, if they have any of those picks left.

    At the end of the day they need to tank so they get a good durable, 6'4" +, accurate, mobile, strong arm QB in the 1st rd of next year's draft. And he needs a red shirt year.

    So, if they wait on getting a legit WR threat that doesn't bother me.

    I see what they're trying to cook, and it's not bad so far. I wouldn't be surprised if Brandon Smith fills Tyler Johnson's role very quickly.

42. Tyler Johnson will not make or break the season. I’m more upset that Corley doesn’t appear to be worth a try. The plan might be to play mostly heavy, with two and three TEs, with the slot receiver being a TE (Smartt or even Taylor), especially since they want to run a lot. It may not work, but there’s logic there. Besides, once you decide Fields is your QB, you pretty much lower expectations for your passing offense.
