If we don’t make the playoffs this year Yzerman needs to be fired
Scott Bentley is a dunce. How much do you think the trading price for Ekblad or Karlsson was during the start of the summer? No one got anything done this offseason because of the cap increase and to at least get Gibson without sacrificing anything was about as much as you could ask for from Yzerman. The team has holes and you can risk losing prospects to get aging vets if you want to be the Eastern Conference version of the LA Kings.
I can see Yzerman making the trade in season for an expiring contract D man to shore up the team but he's not going to overpay in terms of trade capital, its one of the few things he does well; protecting the pipeline.
