Cubs are getting swept by the Rockies if they run that same old tired line up they’ve been running out all season.
It’s not the pitching. It’s the inconsistency of the offense
This series HURT.
Everybody and their mother was hating on Jed Hoyer at the trade deadline. But i think he knew that the first half offensive production was nowhere near sustainable, and that they would come back down to earth…. And that couldn't carry them in the post-season, with their overall pitching. Even if he would have gotten Duran, Gore, Miller, and 2 good bats, that would have not even been enough… and then the farm's depleted. This team isn't that close for just a few pieces to get them to the promised land. They need better left field and DH, a true closer, and 1 or 2 top-of-the-line starters, in addition to Steele, Horton, Imanaga (hopefully Jaxon Wiggins is the real deal) if they are serious about a WS… Not to mention that Counsell needs to put his big boy pants on and be more cognizant of what the team needs day to day. One to two years away.
They were swept away by a manger making $8M a year and not living up to expectations. Been two years now and has no control over his team. He doesn’t know how to motivate them. I like Craig and not a leader of men. Pretty clear over the last year. Give him the benefit of the doubt the fist year.
I don't know what else to say Council is a f**** disaster. What he did with Owen on Thursday how do you set up a rookie to succeed the way he's using him but I digress where was the small ball in the 9th inning You scored eight runs in three games You just needed one run I mean I can't believe how clueless he is???? The frustration of watching him manage is maddening
Nobody was picking on Jed Hoyer the first part of the season.
Counsell is soft and hes not taking a stand against the analitics that are destroying baseball. Be the manager, call the audible. Small ball wins games in the second half of the season and post season, ala Brewers.
PCAs all star appearance has gone to his head. Have him bat either leadoff or later in the lineup to prevent him from swatting flies, he needs to get on base and steal. He's not Kyle Schwarber. Pitching has been outstanding since the break.
Is Hodge coming back? I know he'd be rusty.
Counsell sucks period. Send him back to Milwaukee.
Something tells me that this team all took on the identity of being sluggers, from the freakish and unsustainable 1st half they had. They've all tried to continue swinging for the fences, with violent "pull" swings accompanied by the higher launch angles. Just not sustainable. They all should take lessons from Nico Hoerner, as well as Luis Arráez's plate approaches
The Cubs are just a pretty good team. If I'm wrong about that, then can someone tell me who are the players on the team that are tearing it up out there?? In other words, who would the " Kyle Schwarber" be on the Cubs? Anyone?? It as though they take turns, with one week it's Suzuki turn, then it's Busch and so on down the line
But unfortunately, Sam is right about how the Cubs score runs, whereby they will have a breakout, double digit game, followed by 3 runs, 1 run, 2 runs….etc, and they won't win any five or seven game series with that type of incinstancy
There is no offensive malaise. We've seen for the last three years that these players don't hit in the clutch. This is a bad offensive team, again. It's who they are. What they did early on this season was overachievement and not the norm.
can't believe sam just said he didnt see this coming. really? any cub fan saw this coming for the last 2 months.
and now these guys think cubs will score 5 per game at Col??? what? they struggle to score 2!
Cubs have a losing record since Jed's contract extension was announced.
The pitching was good in Thursday's game. The offense was not.
The good news is that the ball carries in Denver, so the Cubs may have a good scoring series there.
Sorry fellas!! good luck with that!! They're not consistent enough, PCA needs not to swing the bat, as soon as the ball is separated from the Pitcher's glove!!🧐🤔🤨
19:12 😢 i hate craig mo ballet is a baller
Is there any logical reason why Shaw is hitting 9th? He should be leading off.
Promote Mo Baller. IL Turner and bring up Long. There's nothing else they need to prove in Des Moines.
I have no confidence the Cubs win the Rockies series. They easily could be 1-5 on the road trip right now.
White flag time and no W on this offence
The good news for you guys is that the Brewers lost their first homestand all season. I still see the Cubs problem as Counsel not being able to out strategize Pat Murphy. The Cubs made a big foolish blunder when they didn't realize that Pat Murphy was the brains behind the Brewer success, not Counsel. However, having said that, Counsel is a good C+ manager.
