In light of the mp trade to green bay, what is the best Steelers trade ever ?
For me, its the Jerome Bettis trade from the rams.

Minkah was pretty worth the first and fifth round picks. Made an immediate impact.
James farrior from the jets on the defensive side?
Trading away claypool was incredible
In the early Noll era, they sent QB Dick Shiner away for RB Frenchy Fuqua and MLB Bad Henry Davis.
Bettis easily
damn i thought jerome bettis was a steeler for his whole career. still can’t believe we got a second from the bears for chase claypool
SD and NYG trading Eli and Rivers, leading to us taking some dude named Ben.
Honestly that Minkah trade was a ballsy move by Colbert that absolutely worked out. We were 1-4 at the time and traded our pick for a safety who wasn’t even an all pro yet
Minkah nearly single handily got us to 8 wins that year and became a 3x all pro here. Great trade. Sucks it didn’t translate into playoff wins
Edit: we were 0-2
Trading away Claypool, and trading for Bettis.
Trading AB to the Raiders for the offseason in return for a couple of picks that eventually turned into his replacement, Diontae Johnson
Getting Joey Porter Jr for Claypool was pretty alright.
You’re right.
The Bettis “get” ended up being literally historic in not just Steeler eyes, but in NFL eyes (HoF!)
Hard to argue for another who had a more positive team or NFL impact.
There are other moves that were impactful (cutting 9th-round pick rookie Johnny Unitas, e.g.,), but not positive.
I think trading up to draft Troy Polamalu is the best trade in Steelers history. It’s Bettis if you’re talking about trading for an established player.
How bout the 1990 draft where we traded with Dallas and they drafted Emmitt. Only helped them start their dynasty. I mean, who would want that guy?
Bettis is the correct answer.
Let’s not forget about trading up to get Troy Polamalu!
Bettis, Minkah, Mapletron.
I did enjoy the trade where we got Bryant McFadden back from the Cardinals
Y’all think Bettie over trading up to draft polamalu?? Naaa Trading up for polamalu was the best thing this franchise ever did
If anyone claims the best trades within the last 8 years, just stop. They obviously haven’t translated to playoff wins. Bettis or Polamalu were the best trades IMO and both won superbowls with us.
Trading up to get Santonio Holmes was a really good one. We don’t win the Super Bowl without him.
In terms of pro rated value, Bus cost us the equivalent of £4.50 and a pasty, difficult to see how that can be beaten for incomings.
Outgoings, I think dealing Antonio Brown when we did has got to be up there. I’m a big fan of the Minkah deal as well, but that might just be recency bias
trading for Minkah.
The AB*2 has to be up there high .
Part I : sent a 5th round pick to Arizona in exchange for Bryant McFadden 2 year rental and a 6th rd (=Brown)
Part II : sent Brown to Oakland for 2 picks (= Diontae Johnson and Zach Gentry)
So in 2010 ..
gave up a 5th
Received …McFaddens last 2 years where he started 17 games total , and
… 7x pro bowler Antonio Brown , who
… they turned into a serviceable Zach Gentry and 5 years of Diontae Johnson
Trading up for Troy
It’s Trading up for Troy or for Bettis. Honorable mention to Kevin Green and trading down and getting Hampton and the pick they spent on AB was a part of a trade.
Nobody is gonna say trading up in the first round for Polamalu?
Also the trade back for Bryant Mcfadden that included the pick that we used for AB was solid
As far as best ROI, might be the Claypool trade. Ultimately depends on what peezy Jr does next
In terms of impact and positive return, Bettis by a mile.
