Detroit Lions Got A TRIPLE-DOSE Of News Today

The Detroit Lions have made several moves by signing pass rusher Andre Carter. Micah Parsons was traded to the Packers, how does that affect the Detroit Lions? This move signals a shift in the Lions’ defensive line strategy as they look to bolster pass rush and improve overall line performance. At 6-foot-6, 256 pounds, Carter flashed pass-rushing skills at Army—registering 15.5 sacks as a senior—as well as in each of his training camps for the Vikings and Raiders. This past preseason, he registered two sacks and seven pressures (per PFF) and was in contention for a spot on the active roster. Micah Parsons trade pros and cons:

Cons for the Lions
Parsons is a perennial Defensive Player of the Year candidate
Lining him up opposite Rahsan Gary is scary
The EDGE market has been reset ahead of the Lions’ deal with Aidan Hutchinson (shout out to The Joker on Twitter for this reminder)

Pros for the Lions
Parsons has just 10 days to acclimate before taking on the Lions
Kenny Clark is out of the division
How will they stop the run?
Packers will take on a $26.9 million cap hit by dealing Clark
$47 million per year average will impact their ability to sign/re-sign players
The Packers are without their next two first-round picks

Why the Detroit Lions signed Andre Carter to the practice squad:
Gace the Lions another pass rusher
More bodies

Lions news: Tate Ratledge is the Lions future Center:
“I think he could’ve handled it if we just could’ve left him there,” Holmes said of Ratledge playing center. “But when you start looking at the whole combination of him and Graham (Glasgow) and everything, I think that that was the best thing for not only the players being put in the best positions, but also for the team. Because we didn’t have any kind of questions, we knew what he was at right guard. Like, we already know that, so we were very confident about that.”

  1. Sorry man – I don't agree. No way Hutch is that much better than Parsons. I wouldn't overpay for Hutch – time to move on if he wants a kings ransom. Gonna be a hated take I'm sure – but just not worth the price if its 50m+

  2. Honestly I think Hutch would still settle for a hometown team discount. He's a michigan/detroit guy through and through. Will he be a top 5 non qb expensive player? absolutely. Is he better than Parsons talent wise, also yes. Depends on how this season goes. I don't expect him to get a deal that makes him the highest paid non QB so soon after Garrett AND Parsons. But time will tell, I trust in Holmes though

  3. I feel like there’s a bigger game being played by the packers. They signed parsons for obvious reasons but is it possible they wanted to influence hutch’s contract and throw our finical planning off?

  4. I’m not scared as long as Jordan Love is the QB. To me, he has not shown me that he’s a Super Bowl QB.
I almost feel it’s a desperation move by the franchise because the packers are slowly moving down the ranks.

  5. Defenetly lions to win the division Gibbs and Montgomery already proved to parsons he can’t stop them run down his throat and wear him down gibbs will make him twist his ankle
