Angels vs. Astros Game Highlights (8/29/25) | MLB Highlights
Halos are in Houston to take on the Astros for the first of a fourgame wraparound Labor Day weekend series. Angels currently in last place in the AL West. The Astros 74 and 60. I expect today to be an aggressive day with Christian Javier in that fast ball inside the zone against the Angels. One of the guys the Astros would love to see bounce back from injury and improve on his last couple is tonight’s starter. And Neto walks to begin the ball game. Here’s Mike Trout right-handed hitting DH. Trout in his career against Javier is 0 for 12 with eight strikeouts and he tried to hold up on a high fast ball and goes down again. Ninth strikeout now 0 for13 in his career against Jav. That’s absolute ownership of a pretty good ball player and Ward skies this one in the center shallow coming in for it. Duban and he calls off Sanchez and makes the catch for out number two. Back to first goes Neto. That ball hit popped up behind third base. Easy play for Carlos Koreah and Javier works around a leadoff walk to get the next three hitters for the Angels tonight. Tyler Anderson, he had great success back here in April where he threw the ball really, really well. He got his first win of the season. He had hitters guessing wrong, hitting his corners. So one out of nobody for Yordon Alvarez. Nine played appearances since coming back off the IIL. He has walked in five of those and the other four he has had a hard hit baseball. That’s a good pitch to him up again. Once again, a fly ball to Teosio. Second out. Altuve will be the next batter. And Altuve lines it on the left. A base hit. First hit allowed in this ball game. And Jos Altuve is aboard with two out. Now 10 for 29 against Anderson. Two outs for Carlos Koreah. Back to back hitless games for Carlos. Oh for his last 10. And there’s a high drive to center field. Tossio measuring and he’s there to take care of business. That’s a long long way out there. Tossio made that catch look easy. Joe Adell will lead it off against Christian Javier. Got him. Feed him with a fast ball as the Astros pick up their second strikeout for Christian Javier. Went away in the inning. Well, it’s exploding up there. It looks good. 93 miles per hour, but it looks like Javier and Hoppy pops it up. Two are gone and Christian Moore, the Angel second baseman, will be stepping up. Swing and a miss. Javier picking up a strike out of Christian Moore. Starts the inning and ends the inning with a strikeout. He’s got three in the game. That’ll bring up Jesus Sanchez. If you look at Jess Sanchez’s numbers against lefties, you wouldn’t think he would be in the lineup today, hitting 129 on the year. But as we mentioned, Tyler Anderson has been getting hit by left-hand hitters all season long. And Sanchez lifts us in the center. Hit pretty well. Teodosio bad route to it, going back on it. It’s over his head and off the base of the wall. Sanchez on his way to second base with a one-out double. Well, Joe Espado putting Sanchez in the lineup. Paying off at least the first time up. That was a cutter that stayed up and Jesus stayed right on it and shot it right back up the middle. So he’s in scoring position and here’s Yiner Diaz back in the lineup for the first time since Sunday. Swings at it and another fly ball hit out there to Teodosio. This one not ball that deep and he’ll make the routine catch on it and that’ll be the second out. Cam Smith, their rookie right fielder will be the next batter. Ground ball to Moa from Cam Smith. Hot shot and a good throw. A strong one and TA is through the second with no damage. Nico Kavadus the batter, their first baseman in a scoreless ball game. And there is one right down the middle. Cavus expecting something else. Called out on a third strike for Christian’s four strikeout. Might have been anticipating a little bit something else. Maybe the sweeper, the change up. Here’s Pñena. Pñena flew out to center. That ball hit into left center field. That’ll be down for a hit. Pñena’s thinking about two. Taylor Ward with the throw. And Pñena in there safely with a double. That would qualify for a hustle double from Jeremy Pñena. Good job hitting this fast up above the zone into left center field. And here’s Yordon Alvarez with the base open. Scoreless ball game. Pñena good speed on second with one out. That’s a drop center field, but Theosio, he’s all over it. Tagging up is Pñena who was deep enough, but there’s two down. And the batter now will be Altuve, who’s had a hit so far. His only time up. just reaches out that puts it to left but Taylor Ward is there and once again Tyler Anderson gets through clean 02 pitch gets away that goes all the way to the screen and Trout scampers to second base he’s in scoring position with one out at the plate is Mon cut it little tapper Javier will glove it and he’ll underhand it to Walker Trout will move to third on the second out of the inning and Adele at the plate Angel still without a hit reached on a couple of walks so far broken bat pop up shallow left field Sanchez wants it left fielder comes in and he puts it has the third out of the inning. Good job getting in on Adele. And now something brewing for the Astros. Runners at first and second, no outs. And Sanchez, the left fielder, will be the next hitter. That’s a four pitch walk. And the bases are loaded. So Anderson has walked two in the inning. And Yiner Diaz will bat with the bases full. Things are getting interesting here. And everybody’s going to converge on the mound, including Barry Enright, their pitching coach, out of the dugout. Yiner Diaz flew out to center field his last time up. Defensively, Angels in that double play depth. They’re willing to give up that run. There’s a ground ball. Morata steps on third throw. So, what a play defensively. That’s incredible. Wow. Incredible play. Smart decision for Logan Hop to realize you have to make a tag when he steps on the bag just like that. So, two outs there. Got that double play ball. Huge. And Cam Smith at the plate. He’s been pretty good with runners in scoring position this year. Swing and a miss. Harini would lack a word, Mr. Anderson. That was a great job getting out all set up by this a great decision and play by Johan Marcato. Angel still seeking their first hit with two out in the bottom of the fifth. No score and the batter is Bryce Teodosio. Curve ball drops in for strike three. Teodosio goes down looking. That’s the fifth strike out for Javier and the side is retired. Two out walk but nothing more. So Alvarez doesn’t see a strike. Anderson issues his third walk and the Astros have two on with one out for Jose Altuve. There’s a fly ball playing Ward coming in. Meadow going back. Ward calls him off. That’s a big out. So the batter now is Kareah with two on, two out. Ground ball. Christian Moore, just as you said, is there to throw him out and another. Great job escaping trouble for TA. Here’s Mike Trout. A strike out on a walk tonight. No homers in his last 17 games. Target is up. Trout doesn’t like that call. Might have been just off the plate, but Christian dotted up the glove and gets the call. Six strikeouts for Javier and there’s two away in the inning. So two out, nobody on for Taylor Ward who’s 0 for two. A fly out in a line out and that’s lifted to right. Smith going back on it onto the warning track. Makes the catch. A step onto the track to retire the side. Six no hit innings for Christian Javier and still no runs for either side. Robert Stevenson has come on in relief for Tyler Anderson who threw five scoreless escaping a whole lot of trouble. And that is high. Ball four. Misses with the cutter. And the Astros have two on with two out from Mauricio Dubon. Five consecutive innings the Astros have had a runner in scoring position. They’ve had their chances. And that’s in the dirt and that hops behind Hoppy goes all the way to the screen and both runners move up. That bounced in front of Hoppy and then Kangaroo a good 20 ft. So now a base hit could potentially score two. Oh, there’s a ground ball and Moata is there. Throws on the run and once again Angels pitching. This time, Robert Stevenson escapes the champ. Yeah, that’s all about trusting your defense. Christian Javier is done. So, Angel de los Santos for the Astros comes in. He’ll face 456 in the order for the Angels here in the seventh inning. Beginning with Yoan Mata. Angels searching for their first hit of the ball game. That is driven to left center and hit well. And that’s going to get down for extra bases to break up the no hitter here in Houston. Yolan Mona with the leadoff double. Hakuna Monata get it going. It’s been great defensively. Got it working there with that swing. Yeah, that’s a liner into right field. That’s going to drop in for a base hit. Monata is going to be held at third though as the throw comes to the plate and Adele is on with a single and the Angels have something brewing here with runners at the corners. No outs to start off the seventh inning. Hit number two of the game. So the batter now is going to be Oh, and he’s gone 0 for two. Highfly right field line barely in fair territory. Smith gets behind it. He makes the catch and gets it into the cut off man quickly and keeps the runner on third base. One away. Christian Moore the batter. Men on first and third. There’s one out. Got him upstairs. Deos Santos with a special fast ball and that’s the second out of the inning. How about 98 to Christian Moore? That may be the fastest pitch he’s thrown as an Astro so far. That’ll bring up Nico Kavadus, the first baseman, who’s 0 for one in a walk. Kavadus drills one into right center field, sending Cam Smith back towards the wall. Cam will reach up and make the play right in front of the wall running the Astros bullpen. Delis Santos works around first and third. Nobody out. One away to start things off in the bottom of the seventh. Yordon Alvarez is the batter. 0 for two with a walk. Hit hard through the legs of Christian Moore. And Yordon is going to reach. He hit that ball through the glove it appeared as it ate up the Angels rookie second baseman. I guarantee you Christian Moore hasn’t had a ball jump on him like that one did. That ball came off the bat at 112. Pitch from Garcia gets in on Altuve. Hit shallow center going back on it. Moore second baseman over the head and he drops it. Yordon sneaks into second base. He’s saved. It was going to be a tough play for Christian Moore in and out of the glove and the Astros have two men on. It scored as a base hit. Like you said, wasn’t an easy play for Moore. pitch that jammed Altuve and Moore looked like he might have it might have hit his glove before hitting the grass. So they’re going over their strategy for Carlos Koreah. Koreah 0 for two and a walk. There’s a ball in the right field. That’ll be down for a hit. Yordon being waved around. Joe Adell will not make a throw in time. Astros get that run thanks to Carlos Kareah. Carlos did a great job inside outing that one. Forcing it the other way for that RBI base hit. He has been clutching that Astros orange for years. Here’s Walker. Two men on. First and second, one away. One- nothing Astros. In there. Nice pitch to get Walker looking. And it’s high. Ball four. And that’ll load him up once again for Yiner Diaz. Yeah. Second time he’s come up with the bases loaded. Came up with the bases loaded and nobody out in the fourth. Wound up hitting into a double play with a run getting cut down at home. There’s a popup and Moana is under it and he makes the play. So Garcia is able to get out of that jam. Reneo is on the move. The throw down is not in time. A stolen base. The pitch missed. So we got a full count on the take from Neto. And now the tying run in scoring position. Did he go around? Yeah, he did. Couldn’t hold up on the breaking ball. Natto furious with Vic Karapaza who made the check swing call himself and he’s given it to Carropaza. He doesn’t understand why Carropaza didn’t ask the first base umpire, but Neto finally turns and exits. So here’s Trout 0 for two with a walk and heo the tying run off second, one out. Yep. On third strike top rail. Okay, Craig Kimberell dots one up on Mike Trout. Two outs of the inning. And Craig Kimbell has walked three in the inning to load the bases with two out. And that’ll get Joe Aspata out of the dugout and it’ll get Caleb Port into this ball game. Big moment here in Houston. And Joe Adell at the plate. He’s one for three tonight. Into center. Back goes Dubon. Looks like he has room. He does. And the Astros will strand the base is loaded. Caleb Ort a fly ball to straightaway center to leave three here in the eighth. But the sacrifice is successful. One to three. So Smith potential insurance run is at second. One out for Jeremy Pñena who’s one for four. Sharply hit past Neto. Cam had to go back to second cuz it was a potential line drive out. But Cam gets himself to third. So runners at the corners, one out for Alvarez who reached on an error his last time and scored. That’s popped into left. Is it deep enough? Taylor Ward back. Cam Smith. Now Ward coming in. Cam’s going to test the arm. Here comes the throw. He’s safe. Two nothing Astros. Yordon Alvarez. The sack fly. They were going to challenge that right arm of Taylor Ward who came charging in. It looked like he put himself in good position. Short armed it on the way home and Oh chose to go get the short hop instead of trying to hold his ground at home plate and make the catch and tag. Angels down to their final out. So, Nico Cavadus will stand in and Orort will pitch to him. Cavadus is 0 for two with a walk. Got him. Astros win it two to nothing. A four pitcher combined shut out led by Christian Javier with six no hit inning. Kale Borg with his second career save. His first as an Astro. He is pitcher number seven this year for Houston with a save. I mean, that’s a big win to start this

Let’s go Astros
Christian Javier did AMAZING IN THIS GAME!
Nooooooo!! I wanted the Astros to lose! I think Joe Mama Esnada is conspiring with Aaron Boner to plague the AL with black magic! It's the perfect crime! Rangersforever❤
Cmon astros we got this ❤
You sound Goofy af 🤓
The Angels are the Astros Daddy hahaahhaahahhahahahahahahahahaaha
Bench Diaz, or make him last: Bases loaded and no body out, and he hits into a double play.
Gosh angels are boring team to watch, retire Mike Trout. Enjoy the millions.
Angels offense has officially gone ice cold Neto, Adell, Ward, and especially Trout can't buy themselves any hits anymore
Go Astros
This team just can't score with runners in scoring position on the bright side Javier looked great as did ort but Kimbrel needs to fly away far far away 😂
AL West has been a disappointment this season. No offense
Angels had so many chances to score and even beat Houston.
Let's go Astros that's 3 wins in a row
Thank you Lord for giving us ALL the talents and abilities to perform for your Glory. Amen.
Please retire Mike Trout
Alverez responsible for the 2 runs scored. Scored off an RBI from Sanchez ( correct me if I'm wrong ) and drove in Cam Smith with a sac fly. Not to mention all the walks he has been getting since his return. Just his presence alone is enough to strike fear in opposing pitchers. Astros just need to do a better job at getting these runners all the way home and not just for show. Go Stros! Oh and thank you Angels defense for helping out the cause. 😉
How are the Astros so bad with the bases loaded?
VAMOS HOUSTON 🤙
