Seriously, what's the deal with Manny. The defense has been there for the most part, but the at bats and effort have been awful. I really feel like if Manny doesn't stop slumping and Arraez isn't moved down, our post-season wont be very long.

  1. Everyone goes through boom-bust cycles in baseball. There’s always gonna someone on the team who’s on a hot streak and someone who’s not. Manny’s been great most of the season (check his WAR); a slump isn’t something that deserves panic.

  2. Padres fans piss me off to no end. Every single time a player doesn’t perform at an all star level for two seconds they lose their fucking minds. If all these couch mangers had their way every player on this team would be moved down in the batting lineup

  3. It’s a long season and he will be ready to go when the playoffs come around. I know we want 100% effort every day but that’s not the reality given the length of an mlb season.

  4. The most offensive part of this post is thinking Manny has been good on defense

  5. He’s had an ice cold August after a hot July, not debating that. But, I’m confused when people associate bad play or a bad slump with a lack of effort, especially in Manny’s case. He plays with the exact same nonchalant style 99% of the time. Seeing him real fired up is a rarity. When he’s playing well, some will say he looks cool and effortless and when he’s slumping people say he’s lazy and uncaring. Meanwhile, there isn’t any actual difference in effort level, just the results. I just don’t see a lack of effort rn. Hell, he even dove for first base like a week ago which I’ve never seen him do.

Hopefully he gets hot again in September.

  6. He’ll find it again. That’s how baseball works. Just enjoy the games and hope for the best! Root for your team, heartbreak is part of it. Frustration is part of it. But that’s how this all goes.

  7. It sucks. There was a time when he was literally leading the National League in a lot of hitting stats but there’s been a massive drop off. Though if he’s going to go through a cold phase, it’s better he does it now than in September.

  8. Um he plays baseball and baseball gonna BASEBALL. Why do people have such a hard time understanding that. Sheets is 15 for 42 over the last 30 days with 1211 OPS. Is that sustainable?? Probably not cuz well, BASEBALL
