This Proves The Pelicans Are ALL IN…

This proves that the Pelicans are going all in on one of their young superstars as multiple teams has started to inquire about trade packages for Trey Murphy III. We’re going to take a look at what those teams are talking about and see if it makes sense with Pelicans to try to mortgage their future with this guy inside this edition of Pelicans Digest. And of course, uh, yesterday we did a video about, uh, Joe Dumar and his sort of laying down the gauntlet for Zion Williamson to step up this year. And, uh, according to a lot of reports, things are looking good on that front as far as with Zion and him. So, that’s good to hear. Uh, there’s another very important piece that I’ve been very loud about involving Trey Murphy, the third. I have been very loud about this and I have been consistent in saying that I believe Trey Murphy is who this team is getting ready to build their roster around after the Zion experiment is of if the Zion experiment was to come to an end. Uh he’s the only player that’s on this roster right now besides him and Herb Jones that are signed beyond the next two seasons. Everybody else on this roster is up for grabs. And you know, with that being said, it’s it seems to be clear that the Pelicans, I’ve said it before, are going to try to mortgage their future with Murphy if things don’t work out with Zion. But that doesn’t uh but that doesn’t stop other teams from trying to see about the situation with Trey Murphy because uh a lot of teams have expressed an affinity, if you will. is is the proper word to call it. An affinity for Trey Murphy and his uh three-point shooting, his defense, his long ability, his his jumping skills. The the kid has it all. And I truly believe that this season, Trey Murphy should ascend into allstar status. He He’s a former rising star. He should be at all-star status right about now because last season, despite the injuries, he had a great season. He had careerhighs in just about every statistical category. And we’re going to get into that in a minute. But when I first saw this story, the first thing that came to mind was hell no. Hell no. Rest of beast to Bishop Bullwinkle. But uh uh the first time I saw this story, I said, “Hell no.” Cuz I know I know that we would be insane to do this to even entertain this offer. Hell, just just with him taking this call. Because I’ve said this before on this show and I’ve been consistent in this. If you’re the GM or the executive vice president of a team, you should take calls and listen to calls for offers for some of the players on your team if you believe that is going to improve your roster. But in this particular situation, I appreciate the hell saying, “Hell no, we ain’t taking no calls on this.” Big shout out to NBA insider Jake Fischer uh who reported on Friday that the Warriors, the Golden State Warriors, reached out to the Pelicans about a potential trade since they have a strong affinity for Trey Murphy. And this comes because Jonathan Kaminga is giving them the Blues over signing a new contract. Jonathan Kaminga is they trying to Jonathan Kaminga wants more money. Warriors don’t want to give him more money. And and it’s going back and forth between them two. So that’s the reason why you’re hearing this. as the Warriors are trying to get their hands on Murphy uh so they can try to move Kaminga and some of the trade packages that that has been thrown around and proposed is uh trading uh doing a signing trade with Kaminga and Moses Moody for Murphy and plus maybe some draft compensation. Some have also said that the uh Warriors may want to offer two first round picks and Kaminga in exchange for Murphy, which look, I’ll take the picks, but I don’t know about Kaminga. And I was and I was one of these guys who wanted to get Kaminga at first until I until until we got Looney. Once we got Looney, I was like, “Okay, we can get all the Jonathan Kaminga situation. I don’t think he he’s going to be necessary or needed.” But the the ridiculous thing about this situation is, and I’ll say this as well, the first two round, the two first round picks, and if we can handicap the Warriors in any way, shape, or form, I’m down for that. You know what I’m saying? But but not at the expense of giving up Trey Murphy the third. It’s not at that expense. Once again, if we if we go back to uh his numbers last season, 21.2 two points a game, five rebounds a game, three assists a game, one steal a game. And uh you see that that 80% his threes are assisted. Uh because of course, as you know, with Zion coming back and with Zion possibly getting more minutes, you’re going to see a lot more of the big starting to crash down on the uh the the uh the front court, which could lead to open looks for Trey Murphy all season long. Which is why I think I I’m of the opinion that Trey Murray the third is going to rise to an all-star status this season. Hell, we could have two allstars on this team this season if if the cards play right. You could have Zion. Like I said, I believe Zion is if you give him enough games could possibly put up MVP numbers. And big shout out to my man Don who says I must be a Clutch agent because I’m anti-Zion because I’ve been critical of Zion. I’m still waiting on Clutch to send me my paycheck. Clutch. If y’all got that, send that to me. I don’t I don’t know nobody that coach sports, but if y’all got if y’all got a check with your boy, send it to me. I appreciate it. But no, but that’s ridiculous though. Uh but at the end of the day, uh Trey Murphy continues to be one of the the the leading stars on this team and I believe he’s going to be an all-star this season. So, no, you don’t give up that asset. You don’t give him up. You can’t they can throw it they can throw in all the future first round picks unless things go sideways. But at the same time, I’ve said this before, and I’m not going to be inconsistent on this. Trey Murphy is the future of this team beyond these next two seasons. I’ve been consistent in saying that, and I’m going to continue to say that. Now, to their credit, thank you to the Pelicans because had they would have at least, I think, entertained this nonsense, we would have had pitchforks on Airline Highway. We would have been coming down Airline Highway, coming to the Oxford Sports Center to come protest. I’m just being honest with you. I’m just being honest with you. But thankfully uh you don’t have to worry about Trey Murphy trade happening uh because according to Fiser, he also noted that San Antonio has registered trade interest. Although New Orleans has batted away calls from the 25year-old valuing him uh highly. So there you go. So you ain’t got to worry about uh Trey Murray the third going anywhere. uh because the Pelicans, as you said, as as you just as you seen in the report, haven’t even entertained the option of trading them, which is great to hear. And this the same thing happened earlier a couple of weeks ago with the Lakers and E Missy. The Lakers starting acquire them. And of course, I can understand why San Antonio would want to get their hands on them because just like uh the Warriors, uh they and just like the Pelicans, for example, you know, they got Wimyama who is in the paint. same same position roughly around as Zion and when when you speed that paint and you start start dumping the ball trying to dump the ball into that that leaves open looks for Trey Murphy and others. So I understand why the Spurs may want to take a look at him. I understand why every team would want to take a look at Trey Murphy the third because again Trey Murphy the third is going to be the future of this roster and he’s also I think going to make the All-Star team this year. That’s that’s that’s going to be one of my bold predictions. And we’re going to get into bulb predictions another video in another day. And I don’t know if that’s even that much of a bold prediction. I don’t even know if that’s really that much of a bold prediction to be honest with you. Uh because you saw his numbers last season. Despite the injuries and despite the limited play time, he still put up careerhigh numbers. So I feel good about the future with Jay Murphy. If he can stay healthy this season, I believe he’s going to go to the All-Star game. Uh but to hear all these teams all of a sudden and this has always been the knock on the bells uh throughout throughout my lineage as a a fan of this team. We always have great talent. We always have great talent that other teams want to poach away while everybody simultaneously says that the talent that we have on our team is trash. You ever noticed that? Oh, bell’s trash. Everybody on the bell’s trash. But the minute one of my players, but they constantly every other day coming up with trade scenarios to get one or two of the players off this team to come join their team. I think as this team is currently constructed, it can make a playoff run and playoff push this season. Um, but with Trey Murphy the third being the core of that, I believe with Trey 20 points a night, with Jordan Pool’s 20 points a night, with Zion is 25 points a night. If Herb Jones can get above the 10 to 15 point a night register that he has and get it up to 20, that’s 80 points right there that you looking at on the court. Not to mention you bringing back Murray or Herses or anybody else. This is 100. You have enough offense on this team to score 100 a night. You have enough offense on this team to score 100 a night if if everybody’s healthy. and also you have enough pieces defensively uh with Herb, Trey, Ease, and others to still maintain. So, I I feel great about this upcoming season, but y’all got to stop with all these trade rumors about Trey Murphy. Trey Murphy is going nowhere, ladies and gentlemen. He won’t be moving anytime soon. What are your thoughts on this though? Do you believe Trey Murphy is the future of this franchise?
