[Music] What’s going on, Jerome? Beautiful Saturday. Birds are chirping and stuff and it’s time for another Vikings news dump. So, of course, the most noteworthy NFC North trade of the week. I’m Jerome Ezekiel the uh coming back to the Minnesota Fighting Vikings in conjunction with the three other trades that the Vikings made during the week. Uh ba basically it’s a wash. It’s a wash. Yeah. Uh but it’s so funny because news will break about a transaction and then it has to be like 2 3 days later and then the team officially can recognize the trade after everything’s official after everyone passes their physicals after league office approves all that stuff. But he’s coming home to the place where he belongs. It’s good good stuff, man. Also, uh Panthers general manager Dan Morgan. Diamond Dan Morgan. Uh that’s just a U being the U. uh talked to uh you know local media jackal down in in Carolina you know talking about the trade he said this quote it’s kind of had when I I sit Adam filling down in my office and he has just really wanted to go there and he’s pretty adamant about that this is what I want this is where I want to go I didn’t really want to stand in his way it was something that was that was really he was really convicted about he wanted to go and finish his career there so basically he’s just throwing the under the bus right all this talk before the trade. Uh, all talking tough. We’re settling for nothing less than a third round pick. And all the fans, why would you get rid of Bryce Young’s most reliable veteran target before the start of the season? Uh, blah blah blah blah blah. So, basically, he’s he’s just completely throwing Theelan under the bus. Oh, he wanted to go home. He didn’t have a choice. He didn’t want to be here. I hear that Carolina Panthers fans, blame the do not blame me at all. I’m Dan Morgan. I’m the general manager. Whatever. you know, he was assistant general manager to Fritterer uh during those bad years with Carolina, by the way. It’s okay. It’s okay. Are are are we starting a rivalry with the Panthers? Just like the Jets, the This is Is this the second dumbest rivalry in sports history? Might be. Also, uh Vikings Entertainment Network had a great little snippet. Justin Jefferson on FaceTime with Adam Theland right after the trade uh was announced. Well, trade was reported. Yeah. Uh, and you know, a lot of people point out, well, why is Jefferson in full uniform? Why is he in full kit? And you know, the obvious answer is while it’s promotional, uh, videos for like in the stadium, uh, winter warrior time, uh, Broncos country, let’s ride that old stuff. But also, I’d like to think that Jefferson is just always dressed up for game day, ready to go at a moment’s notice like that. Justin Jefferson doesn’t sleep, he waits. Yeah. Also speaking of Justin Jefferson, uh so Jefferson could break another record uh in year six. Uh Justin Jefferson could join Random Mouse and Mike Evans as the only players with a thousand plus yards receiving in the first six seasons of their NFL career. And the fact that he also had 1,000 yards uh in a shortened 2023 season with the hamstring. Pretty damn amazing, right? And I know got the sneaky feeling. JJ 2K, maybe 1.5K at least. Yeah, also you know talk about the off seasonason uh Vikings entering 2025 the the most consequential moves. So so which one was the most impactful? So the trade for the don’t get me wrong like the trade for the is going to be important the first three games of the season also once Addison returns three deep is going to be beautiful and plus it’s a great story all that stuff. uh drafting Diamond Jackson in the first round. Uh the pride of the Ohio University really suturing up the left side of the line plus Jackson Darasol long time. Come on, man. Come on. Uh naming JJ McCarthy starting quarterback. That one shouldn’t even be listed because it was just obvious, right? Oh, but what about Rogers? What about him? Nah. Nah. That that was a foregone conclusion. Kevin McConnell enters year four as head coach. May as well put Kevin McConnell’s extension, which went down pretty quickly. It’s pretty pretty consequential. and then signing Byron Murphy Jr. to a three-year extension. It’s great. Yeah, love having Murf uh in this defense. He is a ball hawk. He gets after it uh specifically with Flores and love his inside outside versatility. It’s going to be good. So, I would say again, McCarthy was just kind of obvious, right? But I think drafting Diamond Jackson is going to be the most impactful of these five. Now, the the Okonnell extension is whatever, too. like he was going to stay here. But if Jackson, if the Vikings hit on that pick and he’s a solid Pro Bowl adjacent type player, plus for the next 10 years, baby, we got Ste going, baby. Haven’t had a good left guard since Hutchinson back in the day. It’s going to be good. Also, uh, speaking of influential players, uh, Matt Verami nailed it over at Sports Illustrated did up his ranking the 60 most influential people in of the 2025 NFL season. Love little thing pieces like this. And number 13, lucky 13, is JJ McCarthy, quarterback of the Vikings. Uh, there might not be a bigger wild card than McCarthy, a 2024 first round pick. McCarthy missed his rookie campaign with a torn meniscus. uh now that he’s a starter uh for Minnesota on a team load to a talent. This offseason, general manager Quio Famemensa signed guard Will Fry and center Ryan Kelly uh to bolster the front while also training for back Jordan Mason. Factor a top 10 defense top three and a three and the combination of Justin J, Jordan outside and McCarthy plays well. This is a Super Bowl contender. Love it. I feel like 13’s too low. I feel like in terms of what’s parameters here, influential people in honor of Super Bowl 60. God, we’re old. Uh, here are the players and coaches who will make the biggest impact on a team that lifts the Lombardi Trophy in February. Well, I I think it I think McCarthy is way higher than 13. Number one is Jaden Daniels. Number two is Josh Allen. First off, the Bills only have Josh Allen. So, I mean, whatever. But for McCarthy, if he’s good, Super Bowl homeboy. If he’s average, Super Bowl homeboy. If he’s bad, NFC title game, homeboy, that’s that’s really the outcomes uh for that. Also, love seeing this. Max Bromer, Blake Cashman outside. How about that? Uh during the Minnesota Golden Gophers 23 to10 win over the Buffalo Bulls alma mater, KJ Osborne before he went to the U. Uh Brosmer and Cashman to go for alma mater. Uh return to lead the skull chant with the pride of Minnesota. It’s good to see bum bum skull. Plus, you know, cash is a great story where Eden Prairie High School walk- on with Gophers, team captain, NFL draft pick. Love that, man. Plus, you know, Brosmer coming in one season from New Hampshire, uh, breaking records all over the place. It’s good, man. Ger I mean that that Lindsay quarterback, I feel like there could be something there. Maybe a couple years. He’s quarterback three behind Bromer, quarterback two, behind JJ McCarthy, quarterback one. Maybe that’s it. Yeah. Also, uh, so Justin Jefferson when he signed his extension a couple offseasons ago was the highest paid receiver, oh, sorry, highest paid non-c quarterback in NFL history. You know, foregone, uh, obviously a highest paid receiver, but the highest paid non-corbacks in the NFL. So, he’s been leafrogged several times. Uh Parsons at 1 47 million per TJ Miles Garrett Jamar Chase Denil the real deal hunter Max Crosby at 355 Justin Jefferson at 35 35 and they got CD and DK how does DK get 33 come on come on uh and it just shows you that even though the contract was huge at the time obviously it was a steal it was value and now it’s every single day it’s looking more and more team friendly All right. Uh, and Jefferson will freshen up maybe this offseason, maybe next off season, but either way, it was a good piece of business by Quy and the Vikings, uh, getting it done with Justin Jefferson. Also, speaking of Michael Parsons. So, first off, who has a press conference like Friday evening of Labor Day weekend? That’s just just talk to the media on Tuesday, man. But uh Jordan Schultz, Michael Parsons, this is the place where I feel I can take my next step and continue to have a great legacy here. Compares Green Bay to Penn State. Feels like home. Yeah, nice sweater, bro. Nice sweater. Uh the beanie makes him look like a lemon. Uh also part of the Oh, also apparently the press conference started 40 minutes late. So that’s great. So, not only do the media have to be in Green Bay Friday night, 40 minutes late, long weekend. Uh, wow. Okay. Also, uh, it was announced that Michael Parson is going to wear number one for the Packers. Last person wear number one for the Packers was Curly Lambo, uh, back in 1926, which was long time ago. 100 years, right? and everything is adding up. I cannot wait. You just wait. Honeymoon phase going on right now. Maybe it’ll last a year, but within two years, Packers fans will be sick of Michael Parsons. Michael Parsons will frankly be sick of Packers fans and Green Bay. And everything adding up is just deliciousness. him unretiring a number that had been unofficially retired for a hundred years and then just sucking sucking ass. And also your press conference Labor Day weekend, Friday night, 40 minutes late, probably doing a podcast. I I know about podcasts. I I just can’t wait. I just can’t wait. And I I I know Backer says, “Well, aren’t you worried about him?” Nah, we’re good. We’re good. We’re good. Plus, we we don’t play the Packers until week 12, like late November anyways. at at Parsons will just be a non-factor by then. It’s okay. It’s okay. It’s okay. It’s all right.
