Miami Dolphins Jason Sanders To Be Out 4-5 Weeks!

I’m telling you, we can’t have nice things. [Music] What is up, Finn fans? You read the title correctly. We heard from Mike McDaniel today. He said one thing and then uh Adam Shfter reported another thing. And the thing that Adam Shfter reported was this. The Dolphins kicker Jason Sanders is expected to be sidelined four to five weeks with a hip injury. Miami will need a new kicker for the start of the season. So, he will likely start the season on either the physically unable to perform list or IR one or the other. And here’s my problem with this. Back on August 24th, it came out. Kicker Jason Sanders wasn’t available on Saturday. A coach McDaniel said Sanders told him he was going to kick extra points, but McDaniel was uh wanted to insist instead work on twopoint tries. Sanders should be available for week one against Indianapolis. And then a tweet came out from Barry Jackson uh saying this. Let me just I I got to get to it because I got a lot of crap for this and I’m on my high horse today. Dolphins are doing imaging testing on Jason Sanders to determine the severity of his injury per associates. That’s not uncommon, obviously, even if the injury is not severe. Late Saturday night, McDaniel said Sanders did not seem overly concerned about week one versus the Colts. So, I tweeted out. So, yet again, McDaniel says it’s not that serious and then the injury is serious, which then I got flooded with people telling me, “Did you read the tweet? Are you reading the tweet? Uh, did we just read the same tweet imaging this? Doug, you’re wrong. Did you read the tweet? Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. And then that news came out. I don’t like being right, but this isn’t the first time that Mike McDaniel came out and said, “Oh, it’s not that big of a deal. He’ll be fine.” Boop. Done for the year. Pretty sure he said the same thing about Alexander Madison where he said, “You know, he had a neck injury. We’re looking into it, but I feel good about it. doesn’t seem that serious. Surgery, he’s done for the year. Like, just drives me nuts. And the fact that I said that and I got so much hate for it and then it ends up being right is like, it’s one of those situations where you’re right, but you really don’t want to be right. And now we don’t have Sanders for four to five weeks. Let me tell you some of the things that McDaniel said today since we’re talking about Mike McDaniel. Uh, he said, “Read the rumor. We’re right in the middle of the necessary evil of getting down to 53. we notify guys that won’t be part of the initial 53 Dolphins, McDaniel said. So, yeah, they made a bunch of cuts today. I’m not going to go into detail on those cuts just yet because they still have to make other cuts. Some surprising ones like Mike Hilton and Pharaoh Brown were released, but uh I’m not going to go into full detail until like they’re officially down to the 53 and then we will react that will probably be tomorrow’s video where we react to the 53man roster. Also, quick update, no Dolphin Collective tonight. We’re going to go tomorrow at 7:30 because during this the regular season, our days are going to be Tuesday and Friday. Uh McDaniel said running back Jaylen Wright uh likely won’t play week one according to Mike McDaniel. Jaylen Wright is not a responsible uh it’s not too off foreseeable future. Jason Sanders is going to have a longer than uh going to Jason Sanders is going to have longer than hoped. He’s not uh anticipated to be available at the beginning of the season. Again, never said four to five weeks. Kind of downplayed it. Fantastic. Mike Hilton and Farah Brown were cut less about them and more about the competition supposedly. They really like the guys around them. Austin Jackson is still on path to play week one. McDaniel says barring any setbacks after what we he constantly says to us. I have no positivity from that. So, we’ll see how that pans out because again, he says one thing and another thing happens. McDaniel says he’s not ready to talk about the des uh designation with Liam Mikeberg, whether he’ll start on IR or the pup. He says there’s uh there is a huge piece of you don’t make uh sort of decisions without continuing to invest of players do the right by the players. Guys come uh back to your team h and you’re dependent on that relationship. McDaniel says maybe he’s talking about bringing back Nick Needle who also got caught uh cut, not caught. Uh right now there is no finalizing. Uh when asked about Jason Marshall’s solidified slot corner being that Mike Hilton was uh released, he said he’s done a phenomenal job but isn’t ready to anoint him. Uh he also says you are you’re also scurrying to make sure you do the very best for your team. I feel very comfortable with these guys and whether we do a move or don’t do a move, we we’re doing the best for the team. We have faith in the people that are capable. He says, “You’re just trying to find a role where you can contribute each and every week when you’re talking about players who are who aren’t starting. Special teams play uh plays a heavy factor.” Dolphin uh McDaniel says it’s not about the 53, but the active. if you’re going on game day and uh non-grass stained jerseys don’t help the team which is interesting he says that um the next uh coming days that will be settled but I don’t see extended time but I don’t see week one uh McDaniel says that’s where it’s at with our procedures also said he had some of his most consistent play in and play out of technique and fundamentals and talking about Cam Smith he made some good plays on the ball uh tackling uh and vicing with his teams. Uh he’s done a good job and his game is progressing in the next two weeks. Uh McDaniel said it is undetermined if Jaylen Wright will need surgery, but I don’t see an extended absence. My words, not McDaniels. He also said the same thing about Jason Sanders. uh his continual progression and more and more of him you’ll see. Talking about Darren Waller, Dolphins coach McDaniel said Kenneth Grant isn’t in jeopardy of missing week one. I will take that with a grain of whatever because again, the man says one thing and then something else happens. Again, I’m not going to get on him. I don’t expect him to come out here and drink truth serum and tell us everything we need to know. But just don’t come out here and say, you know, everything’s good or, you know, he should be good for week one when you don’t know. That’s the thing. Don’t give us false hope. It’s bad enough that we give ourselves false hope. We don’t need you giving us false hope. So, as of right now, we’re not going to have Jaylen Wright for week one, possibly the first four weeks from what it sounds like he’s saying, even though he doesn’t want to say it. Uh, Sanders is going to be done. So, they have to go for a kicker who we will see. uh if they sign him today or not, I will obviously make a video about that tomorrow. If they get down to the 53, the video will be out earlier tomorrow. If they still are making decisions about getting to the 53, uh then the video will be out a little bit later tomorrow because I want to wait until they get all their cuts down. But um I’ll tell you right now just um so you guys know the cuts that are happening. I’ll give you kind of a updated list on who got cut. Um, so right now you got Mike Hilton, uh, Jaylen McKenzie the tackle, the running backs Mike Boon, Aaron Champlain, uh, offensive lineman Jackson Carman, Ethan Robinson, Ben Still, AJ Henning, Addison West, and Pharaoh Brown have been cut per four hours ago. Um, more moves are probably going to be made because obviously they have to get down to 53. Uh, but that is who’s cut so far. We’ll see. as things progress and as things keep going. So, so far the big breaking news is that we’re not going to have Sanders for the first four weeks, four to five weeks of the season, which is a big blow because he was fantastic last year. Uh, helped us win some games and now we got to bring in a guy. Who that’s going to be, I don’t know. But like I said, as news breaks, I will get it to you. Um, and all that jazz. And tomorrow we’ll break down the 53man roster because they have till 4:00 tomorrow to get down there. Then noon on the on Wednesday, uh they could start claiming some waiverss. You can still sign people though. People who are cut, you can sign. People who are waved, you have to wait till Wednesday noon. So I will see you either later today or tomorrow. Be sure to hit that thumbs up. Uh be sure to subscribe if you haven’t yet. And again, collective will be tomorrow. But usual, stay classy. Infants out.

  1. A lot of times McDaniel gets asked the question before he really has all the info and there is the whole Hippa thing so he has to be careful. I don’t think he lies outright. There is no sense in lying because it comes out eventually when the player isn’t playing.

  2. Everyone calm down. Remember Hippa laws apply to football, players too. The coaches aren’t aloud to talk about tests and procedures the players are having.

  3. Hip injury for a kicker. See ya . Time for the team kicker carousel. Miami may really need a kicker this year more tgen ever. They are not beating any team comfortably.

  4. We should have two lockers in camp. Why not? We had two punters. In reality, it's healthy to have a kicking competition, especially when your kicker is making 4.73 million and is top 11 in cap.hit. McDaniel lies about everything. Like Grier.

  5. We have 77 on the roster 24 roster cuts to go.

  6. Just another excuse for McDaniel to go for it on 4th down and 2 point tries now. I have no expectations for this season. I'm predicting 7 or 8 wins if they're lucky.

  7. The Sophtins. Weakest team in the NFL. They always have the least possible OTA’s. Then we wonder why their bodies aren’t conditioned for pre-season and then first regular season games.

  8. Mcdaniels shouldn't be an headcoach period. Half of the time he doesnt know what he's doing or saying. He shows no confidence to his team. That's why every year players, captains decide to leave. Hes a joke. Shouldve been hired as on OC not head coach

  9. This ENTIRE training staff and conditioning coaches have to be fired immediately! As a life long Dolfan, I have NEVER seen a team with more injuries BEFORE the season even starts. Considering we are paper thin at most positions, we are done. Bring on the first overall pick.

  10. It has nothing to do with giving the fans false hope. It's about now laying all the cards on the table for the opponents. Knowing if a kicker will play or not, or having to gameplan multiple scenarios depending on injuries, are disadvantages for the other team.

  11. Wouldn't be surprised if the kicker they sign kicks for the rest of the season. Especially if he does an adequate job early. I see Sanders going in IR
A hip injury for a kicker is no bueno I think they were gonna put Sanders on IR but didn't want a distraction like the Tyreek incident of last season just before the start of the games that count. Hopefully they sign the right kicker. I like Prater he's a former Dolphin really doesn't matter if he's 41 he can kick for the rest of the season.

  12. I honestly think they'll be fine IF, IF, the starting oline stays healthy – they need to execute on offense so the replacement kicker is just kicking EXTRA POINTS. I think the defense will be very effective.
