Rangers vs. A’s Game Highlights (8/29/25) | MLB Highlights

A 5 to 1 home stand. The Rangers are back on the road. It’s a two leg road trip and its first stop in the heart of the I Five Corridor. It’s West Sacramento. It’s the Rangers and the athletics, the Rangers will play in this series without Corey Seeger. He underwent an appendectomy and will be out for the foreseeable future. He will definitely not play in this series, but hopefully the Rangers will be able to get him back towards the end of the season. Statistically, the Rangers are still in it. Their backs are up against the wall and they really got work to do if they’re going to get a postseason spot. Jeffery Springs left hander making his 26th turn of the 2025 campaign the way he is attacking hitters. He’s just staying one pitch ahead of the opponent these days and I think it has really paid off. Helman will put the ball in play shallow right in comes Thomas and he’s got it for the first out and that will bring up Ezekiel Duran who is batting at 229 fly ball to right another chance for Thomas and he completes. The second out here is Wyatt Langford. He is a right handed hitter. It’s all right handed hitters tonight against Springs swing and a miss and that’s how we’ll start a strikeout to Wyatt Langford. A 123 inning. Jack Der gets to go up against these athletics tonight in this hot offense. He has been good first up the odds on favorite for rookie of the year. He has 27 home runs. 70 RBIs 39 average swinging as he gets him with a change up over the last 10 or so starts for lighter. The strikeout numbers have picked up a big part of that swings on the first pitch and pops it up into short right center to grab. It is cody Freeman. He’s got it one pitch, one out. We’re scoreless here in the bottom of the first. There are two outs and Brent Rooker coming up next on the ground towards the middle. Durant’s got it slings to first in a 123 inning for light. So he matches springs 123. So back to back singles rangers in business. Here is cody Freeman comes up freeman right hitter batting 171 with a homer and four runs batted in. He reaches for one and he gets past Kurtz and no one’s at first to cover everyone safe. He had just enough to get it over the 65 nick Kurtz. This is just smart hitting at its finest right here, a ball that is far off the plate that’s got to be a foot, foot and a half off the plate. He makes contact with it. Just a lot of confusion here. Two players going after the same baseball, nobody at first, the big first baseman Kurtz tried to make a leaping grab, it went off the top of his glove, so everyone is safe and Jonah Heim is the batter real chance early on here for the Rangers and he sends one to right. Thomas the catch Young tags. The throw is way off line and the Rangers get on the board first. Josh Young comes home on a Jonah , he sacrifice. This is a run courtesy of the A’s poor defense and as much as they’ve improved this year offensively and lately with their pitching, their defense still to the bottom in a lot of key areas and let’s run something of a gift with the ball off. Wilson’s glove springs not covering first. This inning should have been over. Here’s Dylan Moore his first at bat as a ranger. You’ve got runners at the corners. The koa scores Freeman at third more digging for two and he is thrown out trying to steal an extra base on the back side. But welcome to the Rangers, Dylan Moore RB, I single in his Rangers debut inside and Kurt draws the walk bases loaded for a man that knows this situation all too well on this home stand. Well, that is a big league at bat by Nick Kurtz so much. So I think like Mater is gonna come out and give Jack Lader a little breather, single strike out, single walk. So the bases are full here for Langoliers who comes into play here today with 29 home runs on the ground at third. Young goes home with it and they get the lead runner that’s a play by josh Young groundball, moved him in so he just took the easy play, the play. So he reaches on the fielder’s choice. The bases remain loaded. Now, langeliers at first Kurtz at second, go off, moves along to third. But the Rangers keep the A’s off the board for the moment and now have two outs in the inning for the right handed hitting Brent Rooker first pitching. He gets down for a hit gallop. Scores here comes Kurtz, he will score and the game is tied at 2 to 2. This is why it was important to get some traffic on the base path. You start to put a little pressure on the young right hander, Jack lighter. He feels the pressure to make pitches. He gets chased back into the strike zone and who’s waiting Brent Rooker and with a couple on, you gotta let R cook and he’ll feed you. Here’s Jonah Heim and he swings and blasts one deep left field. That one is way way back and that ball is history Jonah Heim with a towering home run. His 10th of the year, his 39th RB. I, he breaks the 22 tie. It’s 3 to 2 rangers good, aggressive swing from Jonah right down broadway and from our vantage point, sometimes you don’t necessarily know if a guy gets one or not. This one was a no Doubter right off the bat. That has kind of been the story of the night, at least as far as the strikeouts go. It’s gotten good movement. The fastball has been up to 99 tonight. He has been attacking with it. He’s gotten more quick outs than we’re used to seeing Jack. He has set a new career high for himself in innings pitched. The stuff is crisp, the velocity is there. He’s throwing showing no signs of slowing down this another strikeout on a change up 92 another hitter that’s just baffled swing in the miss struck him out with a curve. Netball didn’t have a lot of bite to it. It stayed upstairs but it fooled Cortez and Jack trying for the shutdown inning has back to back strikeouts. A total of six for the game and a third youngs got it low throw but more the scoop and lighter completes a 123 innings. Jack’s not a huge groundball pitcher but he did get Soderstrom to ground out last time and he does have more ground outs than outs in the air tonight to get another ground. The 32, strike three called bottom of the zone with the heat just dotted at the bottom of the strike zone. Soderstrom can do nothing about it but just watch it. I think you have to carry in the ride of that good four seamer that just catches hitters off guard, one, one floated into shallow left field. Durant going out Langford coming on and Wyatt Langford makes the running grab to retire Wilson on that soft floater the second out here in the bottom of the sixth. Nice shot by lighter Bach is lingering. What’s he gonna do? What are you gonna do, boat? All right. He’s letting him roll and Thomas pops it up. He does, he have a play. It looks like he does. He makes the catch and jack lighter gets through six allowing just two runs against one of the hottest lineups in baseball. And what do we have here? We got a little bit of a delay over runny nose. Second base umpire Chris Guccione. Oh, maybe a bloody nose. All right. Hey, we’re going to play through the pain. Guccione’s the crew chief. He’s got to set a good example. Little delay there as Guccione gets back into position out at second base. So one on one out rangers up 32 , here’s he I drive to left back if it’s fair. It’s good. Michael Helman giving the Rangers some insurance with a drive to left Texas on top 5 to 2 vaso with a strikeout, a walk and a strikeout here in the ninth inning that will face Michael Hillman who two run homer gave the Rangers their current cushion could be trouble again. Soderstrom back at the track at the wall. He leaps, got it back, soder and leaping up and I’m not sure if that ball was going to go out, but it was pretty close leaping play left right at the wall by Soderstrom and I think that it was going to go out watching the replay and he did it nonchalantly like it was no big deal. The A’s have been a very good come from behind club, especially at home where they have had some late inning Magic Butler, two singles and a ground ball to second base against sean Armstrong. He is one for two with a home run in his career. The A’s have won 17 games this year in their last at bat. Young might have a play. He does have a play and the Rangers come to West Sacramento and they take the first game of this three game series, another great start from Jack Leer and good to see the offense picking up on the road where they left off at home.

  1. Yabba Dabba Doo! What a gritty win against a non pushover team! Now we've got 69 wins, and for some reason that seems really funny! And I'm the first comment! Woo hoo!🎉Ranger fans UNITE!!! Rangersforever❤

  2. Somehow, with the Mariners' brutal choke today, the Rangers still feel like they're in the playoff race. But without Semien, Seager, and Eovaldi, it's just good to see the rest of the team keeping the hopes alive.

  3. Luis Urias has apparently been kicked out of the Athletics, but is it still unclear which team will acquire him?
It's late August and the official season in Major League Baseball is nearing the end. Do you think there will be a team that will try to acquire Urias?

  4. SELL THE TEAM, JOHN FISHER!
mlb, telling Oakland fans to be Giants fans would be like moving the Rangers to Nashville and telling their fans to switch to the Astros.
