Steelers win total predictions for 2025 season: Over/under | Chris Simms Unbuttoned | NFL on NBC

Our next team, the Steelers. They are one of the uh top middle class teams in terms of overunder. It’s at eight and a half wins. They were 10 and seven last season to be fair. They’re only favorites in six games going into this year, Chris, but a much different looking Steelers team this year with the old guy back there and Aaron Rogers who as you’ve said before, we haven’t really seen him play for the Steelers yet. Not into, you know, he got there late, didn’t play preseason. So, this is one there. It’s kind of hard to know what to expect. I know. I I hate the decision. I hate it. Like, I I would play, right? Why would you want to go into Met Life and deal with all that craziness? It’s going to be a lot of drama, right? And just why not just get at least a few snaps under your belt just so you can kind of get that, you know, initial nervousness, jittery, right? Just the jitteriness. I know that’s not a word. Just just off a little bit. Get hit a few times so you feel good and you’re not worried about that. You know, I I think I said on here last week, I mean, one of the problems with Rogers in the last few years has been he’s jittery. That’s what everybody would tell you. Anybody that’s either played with him or plays against him goes, “Damn, he doesn’t want to hold the ball in the pocket very much.” I mean, he doesn’t. That’s why, hey, we got excited a little at the end of the year last year cuz there was like, okay, Rogers hanging in there and throwing the ball down, right? I mean, he had some moments to where I he can still throw it and I’m just hoping he’ll unccork it. I’m going to take the over here. I am, you know, I’m going to have faith in their defense, the faith in the desperation overall of the organization that, you know, the playoffs win a game, the desperation of Rogers and the fact that this could be his last year and he’s not trying to go out like some chump. I still think the defense is going to be damn good. I I I do. And then offensively, yeah, I think there, you know, again, I think there’s some real potential here. I think there’s two things. One, I look at the O line and go, “Ooh, the O line I think could be better than people realize.” Rogers and DK Medaf. And then I just question who’s going to be this second receiver on this offense. I think it’s going to be John Smith. I mean, it may be, right, which is I know sounds crazy to say. Roman Wilson’s getting out there. Can he carve out a piece for them, but I think you’re right. I think Jonnu Smith and Frier Mouth are probably going to be option two and 2A behind DK Metaf at least early start of the season, right? But can they run the ball? That’s going to be a big part of the the the whole thing with Pittsburgh. Can they run the ball so Rogers doesn’t have to throw the ball 41 times a game? Because if Rogers has to throw the ball 37, 35, 40 times a game, I don’t think that’s a good thing. I think in the perfect world, you want to go Rogers threw the ball 24 to 27 times, right? We didn’t get him hit. We ran the ball and it allowed us to run play action and allowed him to stand back in the pocket and be aggressive down the field a few times. To me, that’s the formula of success I look for. And then on the defense, hey, there’s some dudes. There definitely is. I mean, even though I didn’t love the way they looked the other night against the Carolina Panthers. Yeah, I saw that in the notes from you. I mean, you just expect them, as you said, to be more physically dominant. I just didn’t like the way it looked, right? I mean, again, it is preseason. Maybe there’s, hey, you’re tired. It’s the end of camp. Rogers, TJ Watt, DK Medcaf’s, you know, Hayward, none of them played. So, I I get that, too. But yeah, I feel like in most cases when you see the first team defense going against the second team offense, even if the second team offense moves the ball a little bit, you see like, whoa, the defense is controlling the line of scrimmage and doing that. I didn’t necessarily see that to me. It scared me a little the other night. I will say that. Yeah. And they’re going to be without their first rounder, Derek Harman, for a couple weeks. He has the knee sprain now, so we’ll see how they get by in the beginning of the year without him. He’s a big addition. It seems crazy to take take the under. I’m going to take the under. It is historically a horrific move to bet the under on a Mike Tomlin team. My problem with Rogers is that after September when he’s been hit a few times that that was it last year with the Jets. He was throwing the ball way too early. He didn’t he was he was definitely hurt, but he plays through that and he’s not the same guy anymore. It’s just hard for me to buy into this team as getting over the hump with him under center, especially with where we don’t really know what he’s going to look like coming into the year. I think they need a fast start. You got to go beat the Jets at Metife week one. You can’t lose that game. I I mean it it’s set up for them in their style of Pittsburgh Steelers type of football where you figure it feels like it’s going to be a defensive 13 to 10 13-10 1713 something like that type of game where you go, man, the Steelers are they love games like that. That’s that’s what they are. It might just come down to one defensive turnover, one block punt. It’s things that Steelers do a lot, right? I do look at the Steelers and their start of their schedule there and go, you know, a little like we’ve talked about some other teams, the Jets, Seahawks, and Patriots, they might be able to catch them as they’re kind of getting their feet underneath them a little bit. That’s very true. With some new moving parts to where, again, I’m always into the early part of the schedule because you can get fake confidence by that. I know I was on some teams in Tampa where I don’t know if we were all that good, but we won early and you start to think you’re good, right? Yeah. And you get some grown men start to believe in Yeah. And playing a certain way and the coaching staff’s calling games and game plans that fit the way the players play and that makes you believe even more, right? That’s where you can get something going. We’ll see if they can do that. They they are another one, you know, you look at the schedule and you go, damn, it’s tough. I mean, the AFC North, their schedule is tough this year between the AFC East and the the NFC North. You know what I thinking, ironically, get them to nine wins. I think the Ravens could be sitting everybody the last week of the season. Could be. I think the Ravens are that good this year that there’s a world where they sit everybody and I know it’s weird for them to play backups against the Steelers. That could be the ninth win. Browns Ravens to end the year they could get two cheap ones right there. Exactly. Uh this is a good one from from the homies. Jason Croak uh Crochi said Steelers are an easy nine. Make playoffs. Defense gives up 30 points in the wildard round. Rinse and repeat. That sounds like somebody that’s lived the life as a Steelers fan is what that sounds like. Well, what we’re hoping is that we see a Steelers team here this year that if they do get to the playoffs, we go, “Whoa, I think they could actually win.” And I’m actually rooting for them to win because they’ll be fun to watch the next week. You know, I’ve rooted against them almost every year because I’m like, “Oh my gosh, I don’t want to see the Steelers in the divisional playoff round. It’s going to be a loss. It’s going to be a boring game. Whatever else, we’ll see.” Rogers, DK Medav, that offensive line I do think changes some things on that on on that side of the ball for them that maybe we haven’t seen in a few years.   1. I'm seeing like 12-5. Kaleb Johnson will be the most important rookie on the team. Letting Najee go will end up being a mistake that haunts them down the stretch.

  7. Remember this is Mike tomlin's team so the mediocrity will shine through at the end of the season they will win eight games and this will be the first year that they've had an under 500 team

  9. The Steelers don't have a Young mobile quarterback like the best teams in the league do and unfortunately not enough of a team around Rogers to support him and allow him to sit in the pocket for 5 minutes

  16. My prediction is Aaron Rodgers goes on IR by week 6, the Steelers win 6-7 games and contend with the Browns for 4th place in the division. And I am not a fan of any team in the AFCN.

  22. That kid knows nothing about football the Steelers can beat the over with mason at qb it’s just they won’t win playoff games with him the floor for this team is 9-8 ceiling is 14-3 my guess is 11-6

  23. Steelers 12-5. May win division. They'll at least split 1-1 with The Ravens. At least 3 Divisional wins. Can possibly sweep The Browns.

    I'm a realistic Cincy and Steel Town Fan. But, more of a General NFL Fan. May The Best Teams represent their Divisions and Conferences.

  25. First of all, he did not "get there late". He, like a lot of veterans, did not show up for the couple of days of O.T.A's. which, anyone that says that makes a big difference is a stone cold liar. He showed up when it was important, minicamp. T.J. Watt did not, so, you going to argue T.J. is not prepared? He did not play in the preseason eather.

    And secondly, the man has been doing it for a long, LONG time, you think ONE SERIES makes all the difference? You realize how DUMB the "JITTERY" comment is? If he was jittery in game 3 or 4 or game 6, are you going to sit there and say one series in preseason and he is not longer jittery? How come he was still jittery in the second half of game one, if he already played a couple of series? Game 2? Still Jittery, after a full game under his belt?

  31. As long as the OL plays to their potential and stay uninjured they will over perform and won a couple of playoff games. They have a ton of picks next April and will trade 6-7 of them for one of those 3 QBs coming out and get their future franchise qb.
