Between the Nationals and the Rays, you got Jake Irvin listed as the starter for the Nationals. Ryan Pepio going for the Tampa Bay Rays here. And Jake Irvin has not had a good month of August. A 9.55 ERA. It crosses five starts is the worst erra in any month by a mile this season. It’s probably going to be the worst RRA of any month because it’s going to be his last start obviously of the uh the month of August. And uh at home this season he’s been better, but that’s not saying much considering he still has a 5.08 erra at home this season, a 259 opponent’s batting average. So I I do have my concerns and my qualms with backing Jake Irvin in this spot, especially against Tampa Bay Rays lineup that, you know, has still been fairly solid against right-handed pitching in the last two weeks, hitting 260. The team OPS numbers are around league average. The isolated power numbers could stand to be a little bit better, but they’re around league average, too. Washington has hit righties well themselves. They’re hitting 277. Their team OPS and isolated power numbers are actually better than Tampa Bay’s. And Ryan Pepio has had issues with control earlier this season. He’s had issues with sort of keeping the ball in the yard as he’s given up 26 home runs this season. But he did pitch well in his last start. He did struggle in his last couple of road outings, but I think that, you know, getting back out on the road here after, you know, a start at Steinbrerfield where he did pitch well, kind of got some confidence back could serve him well in this one. And I think that the Rays are just playing the better baseball even though it’s not by much. I think they are the more competitive team in this one. And I just give Ryan Pepio the edge here over Jake Irvin. And when you get into the later stages of this game, I trust the Rays bullpen more than I trust Washington’s in all honesty. even though Washington’s does have the better bullpen RA over the last two weeks. So, I’m going to roll with the uh the Tampa Bay Rays in this one on the money line and that’s going to be my free pick.
