Brewers vs. Blue Jays Game Highlights (8/30/25) | MLB Highlights

Another beautiful day for baseball north of the border in Toronto. A statement has been made this weekend already as the Brewers and Blue Jays battle in game two in this three-game weekend set. Game one goes to the Brew Crew, solidifying their place as baseball’s best team. And they’d like to add one more win. It would be number 85 already on the season. So fans, you wanted to be in a pen race, didn’t you? And here you go, Kevin Gosman heading to the mound for the start here on this Saturday afternoon to take on the Milwaukee Brewers. And here is Terra, who went two for four with a walk in last night’s game, is on a 12game hitting streak. Has 15 home runs on the year, nine of them in the month of August. Swinging a miss, he sits down. Gosman gets the K to start this game. How about that strut off the mound? A really nice atbat for Kevin Gosman. and now brings up Jackson Cheerio. As now this one is sent to deep center. Straws back, jumps, he’s got it. He takes a home run away from Jackson Cheerio. Cheerio just back off the IIL. The first pitch that he sees and he almost had himself a home run, but Miles Straw had other ideas. Everybody on the field fired up about that one. That is an exceptional play. Two down and here’s Christian Yelich. This one in the air to right center field. It is playable. Backpedaling his straw to make the catch and it ends the inning. Quinn Pri on the hill. If you follow his storyline, he’s been knocking on the door to try to get 11 consecutive decision victories. The Brewers have won 15 straight appearances for Quinn Preer. This is unbelievable. If he gets that decision, that is a new franchise record. The right-hander for the Brewers will face George Springer to start this game. And Priest with that power sinker ties up George Springer. And that’s how his day starts. That’ll get Vlad Guerrero Jr. to the plate. He’s the designated hitter today. One and two to Vlad Jr. He leans out on one fly ball to left and Collins is there in a one, two, three inning for Pster. An efficient first inning for Quinn. Still two and two on William Contrarus, the catcher for the Brewers who plays a lot. They keep his bat in the lineup whenever they can. Got it. Good location on the split. One down. Well, you get a guy that may chase, you will take your shots. And Kevin does it with that splitter down in the zone. And there’s one away now for Freelick. South Freelick with a base hit to center field. Clean single to center. First hit of the game for Milwaukee. So, two down. Here’s Isaac Collins, the left fielder. Had a good night last night. Went two for three with a single and a two-run double. 3-2 pitch is sent into right field, but it’s going to be or at least it should be a routine play. And it is, of course, for Andre Jimenez. Records the out, sits down the Brewers. Kevin Gossman versus Caleb Durban to begin this third inning. And that’s up the middle. Bette able to knock it down. No chance he’s going to get Durban even if he comes up with it cleanly. And that’s an infield hit. Brewers lead the league in that category. And Durban is aboard to start this third inning. The Brewers are second in the majors in stolen bases. And here’s the number nine hitter, Andrew Monasterio, who got the scoring started last night with a home run in the sixth inning. Swinging a miss again, the throw down to the runner back, but Monasterio strikes out for out number one. Third strike out of the ball game for Gosman. Obviously, he’d love to get a couple more right here as we go back to the top of the order with Bryce Pang. Swinging a miss. And Gosman gets another one for out number two. And on that pitch, Durban was going, but he got going so early he had to put the brakes on. So Gosman and Kirk doing a really good job. Obviously Durban is on their mind on the season. There have been 14 stolen bases in 17 tries with Gauzeman on the mound. And it was a big big topic of conversation prior to yesterday. And Gauman picks him off finally. They threw over I believe five times plus two from Kirk and they finally get Durban. What a stellar inning there for Kevin Gosman. There’s a base hit into center for Ty France. And the Blue Jays get the leadoff man on to start this third inning. Miles Straw in center field today. We saw him spin some magic in center field in the first inning. And now let’s see what he can do at the plate. Into center field and dropping for a base hit. France now heading to third. Straw into second and in there ahead of the throw. I love the aggressiveness of Miles Straw. It’s a one out double for Straw. his 13th double of the season and the Blue Jays have second and third with one away. George Springer with two runners in scoring position just one away infield in for Milwaukee here. Three and two the count and a little popup. Terra will make the call and the catch and Priest are able to retire Springer. That’s a huge out. And now it’s second and third with two out for Addison Barger. And Barger a shot. Oh, Monisterio throwing a to first in time and that is the backup shortstop. How good are the Brewers defensively? Monasterio with a gem. What a play on a rocket off the bat of Barger. Snatch that thing on Andrew. Oh man, what a play. And now the Brewers have a runner in scoring position with none away. Christian Yelich now up the big lefty bat. Swinging a miss. Gosman gets him with a split. Already five strikeouts today for Kevin Gosman. brings up William Contrarus and the Milwaukee catcher, the big righty bat. And a swing and a miss. He strikes out another one. He gets Contras for the second time today. Two down. Two outs. Still a runner at second for Freelick. It’s sharply but France has it. Gauzeman over to cover in time to get him. Ty France with a nice play and he feeds Gauzeman just in time. A good play by France. Close play but they get him. Too much speed there and safe at first is Miles Straw. An infield hit to start this sixth. George Springer is the batter and Springer grounds one to third to second. One on to first and a wide throw. And instead of a double play, Springer’s going to wind up on second. He’s unhappy with himself and the swing, but the Blue Jays catch a big break on that play. And now here’s Barger and he lines one in right a base hit. Springer is going to be held on the play and the Blue Jays have runners on the corners. But in a scoreless game like this, I thought he was going to go aggressive and it could be with V and Bo coming up. He wants to give them the opportunity. We will see how it turns out. Guerrero is 0 for six in the series. And now a highf fly to left center field. Cheerio will make the catch. Here comes Springer and he will score. Barger into second and a sack fly by Guerrero has played the first run of the ball game. It’s normally tight. Brewers defense has led Priest down here in this sixth inning. Now the Blue Jays have another opportunity to score a run here. If Bobette can come through with a base hit, it’ll be a two nothing ball game. A swing and a foul tip right into the middle of Contraras. And Per gets the strike out of Bett and gets out of the inning with no further damage. And Yelich will settle for a double. Leadoff double by Christian Yelich. That is a good start. Brewers have been able to muster nothing against Kevin Gosman so far in this one. Let’s see if they can push one across against him. Here’s Contrarus. One swing of the bat. The Brewers could grab the lead here as Contrus sends one the other way to France at first on a couple of hops. He records the out. He did look toward third, but Yelich was getting there with ease. One away, but now Yelich at third. And obviously the sackfly opportunity is there for the Brewers. Two and0. And a little half swing. Here comes Yellage. He will score. Felic is out. They did get the tag on him. And Yelich comes in to score. Get him on. Get him over and get him in. And you can see Gossman frustrated because this is not good contact right here from Freelick. In fact, that’s kind of not even a half swing. It’s about a quarter swing. And Yelich, he was off on contact, able to score easily. And again, that is why you put contact on. Anything soft in the infield, you’re going to be able to score the guy from third. And there are two away as Andrew Vaughn steps up. Here comes pitch number 10. And Gauman gets the call. Strike three called on a splitter down. Eight strikeouts for Gauzeman. An outstanding effort through seven innings. It is tied at one going to the top of the ninth inning and Joe Jeff Hoffman enters the game. And he is on now to try to keep this thing tied and give his team a chance to score. And for Jeff Hoffman, he’s going to have to go through the gauntlet of this Brewers lineup. Cheerio Yelich Contras. One-1 pitch. Cheerio fly ball to right. Got some carry to it. Springer is back and it is up and gone. Jackson Cheerio sends one out of here to put the Brewers ahead. Two to one Milwaukee on Cheerio’s 18th. This kid is electrifying. hits an opposite field bomb in his fourth atmat back after a month hiatus on the injured list. There is something different about that kid. Appreciate it, Brewers fans. Now Yelich goes deep into left center field. That’s got a chance. It is gone. Backto back jacks. Three to one Brewers. Cheerio and Yelich each to the opposite field. A pitch after Jacksonio goes deep. It gives the Brewers the lead, his 27th of the year. And Hoffman shaking his head in disbelief on the mound, giving out backto back homers. And Milwaukee gets a man on here in the ninth inning. And the fans are voicing their displeasure. Runner at second with two outs now. That’ll bring up Isaac Collins. Collins. That ball’s hit well left center field. Got some carry and that’s going to split the gap and go to the wall. South Freelick is in. Isaac Collins with his second hit. It’s four to one Brewers and the fans are not happy right now with Jeff Hoffman. He’s hearing it from some of the fans here at Rogers Center. A real tough day for Hoffman. Stage is set now Vinnie for the man who’s taken over the closer role from Trevor McIll. Abner Uribe. Let’s see if he can close this one out. And the Blue Jays have a base runner here with one out. Aribe is a power pitcher, but he does get a lot of ground balls. Alejandro Kirk on the ground. chance to finish this game right here. 4 643 double play and that’s it. And the Brewers win again. Abner Uribe notches the save and Milwaukee continues their run through the month of August. They are now 85 and 52 for the year. Their 21st win in August and they have taken the first two games here in Toronto.

  1. As I wrote 2 days ago, with their pathetic hitting with RISP I was hoping with Jackson back they'd get their mojo working again. Well, they did and pitching has been outstanding!
