In Fielding Run Value (which is, in my opinion, the best defensive stat) they’re completely average, at 15th overall with 4. Seems fine right? However, when you take away the elite Dillon Dingler contributions, they drop all the way to 20th, as he, by himself, has been worth 13 (holy smokes).
This is all to say that those who have been saying we’re not a good fielding team have a point, but it’s important to note we’re still not “bottom barrel” like some people have been seeing. More so meh to moldy infuriating at times. And yeah, Dingler is a beast lol

Dingler’s carrying
They are a very young team and tend to make mistakes in bunches. They have had some gems and some stinkers. Dingler is 100% their best defender. Javi probably is next. Sweeney and Kieth are the biggest liabilities.
The Tigers are a good defensive catching team. Yes Dingler is absolutely a beast.
Everthing else is pretty bad. – 9 FRV from the infield / outfield is only +1 better than the Rockies.
They’re a streaky fielding team
Yeah I feel like I don’t notice the bad defense too much, and then Keith will make a million errors in the span of 3 innings. Or the whole team will forget what defense is + Keith making a million errors like the As series.
Feels like baez and dingler are the only good defenders on the team. Tork is good at picking throws and that’s about it (has gotten better). Riley is the Jeter of left field (flashy, overrated defense). Zmac tends to make errors in bunches. And then you have carp who is a complete liability. We need Parker back so we can keep baez in the infield badly
