We have a lot of action lined up for the week ahead. Major League Baseball and WNBA on Sunday. we start churning ahead to week two college football and week one NFL. Still on a nice run, 19 and eight across our last 27 and uh you know, we’re having a nice run with it. So, make sure that you jump on board. And the Nationals sending out Brad Lord for the start in this one while the Rays will counter with Ian Seymour. And Seymour’s first start was not terrible. You know, five innings of shut out baseball and uh gave up just one hit, had eight strikeouts. He’s been rock solid for the Rays in relief this season with a 3.18 RA, 34 strikeouts to nine walks and 28 and a third innings of work. But even if you take out the the the start and just go on his relief numbers, still averaging over a strikeout per inning, and he’s been really really solid. And now you’re going against a Nationals lineup that in the last two weeks against left-handed pitching have been one of the worst lineups in baseball, hitting 178. The strikeout numbers are the highest in baseball at 32.2%. The team OPS numbers are horrible. The isolated power numbers are not very good. Those are second worst only ahead of the Cleveland Guardians who have been one of the worst teams in baseball all season against left-handed pitching. So don’t love that for the Nationals here. Brad Lord on the other side’s coming off a rough couple of outings, one and one, but he gave up 11 runs, 10 earned on 15 hits, three home runs over just nine and two/3 against the Yankees and the Mets. And yeah, those are two lineups that are absolutely rolling against right-handed pitching right now, but the Rays are still not, you know, doing too terribly against righties. In the last two weeks against right-handed pitching, they’re around league average and team OPS. The isolated power numbers are above league average. Not a high strikeout rate necessarily. If the Nationals were facing a righty here, I might be able to to sort of talk myself into giving them more benefit of the doubt. But with this current matchup, I don’t necessarily love it for the Nationals. I think the Rays do have the better bullpen even though Washington’s bullpen is in better current form, you know, with a uh an erra of 3.23 in the last two weeks, while Tampa is just over four. So, for me in this one, I got to roll with the Rays here. Once again, I just think that the Rays are the better team playing better baseball and the Nationals are just a team playing out the string and not even interested in playing spoilers.
