We currently have 3 extra players on the roster that we need to cut before the start of the season, and this trade would immediately help us cut out 3 players in return for a solid center.

Obviously we would have to involve picks in this trade, but I feel like this would be an easier option for the team than the uncertainty of drafting. We have more than enough first-rounders to do so, and we can give them one of the lower first-rounders (Dallas 2027 or worst of five team swap 2026).

For Brooklyn's side they get a raw and young guard for them to develop, and tradable assets in the future in Pat and Green.

This trade can ONLY work after September 6th because of the Pat trade*

  1. This trade would be a dream and a robbery if it were straight up.

As you said obviously we’d need to include some good picks. I’m really intrigued by it and would go for it, but JP would probably consider it “skipping steps”. Probably smarter to see how the current roster looks, if guys can stay healthy, before trading away picks.

Why would Brooklyn ever settle for that?

    Claxton isn’t injury-prone

  3. Ahh the classic “we give you our bad pieces and you give us your good pieces” trade

  4. For any trade for Claxton picks would have to be attached, we have enough to spare but the question is if we want to save them for a bigger fish or not

Any trade like this a different team would definitely try to leverage us having so many picks to get one or more

In hypothetical situations I do like claxton as well as Allen but it has to be done at the right time for the right price

  5. Claxton is actually quite bad now since his back injury. Wasn’t even a top 4-5 player on the nets last year or their best center. I wouldn’t trade for him unless nets were giving us something in return. Definitely would not offer any picks or rookie contract players either.
