Ravens Report: Camp Concludes, 2025 Season Awaits

This week on Ravens Report, why was a preseason game so meaningful to Katon Mitchell? Plus, we’ll take you inside Ravens Colts joint practice with Zay Flowers miked up. And you’ll meet the newest Ravens cornerback. All that and more coming up on Ravens Report. Touchdown Ravens. Oh, what a scene we have at MNT. Welcome to Ravens Report. I’m Shelby Lasso. We’re back for another season of Baltimore Ravens football and the excitement is through the roof. The expectations are skyhigh for this 2025 Ravens team. And after a tough loss to the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round of the playoffs last season, this team will now start its slate right back in Buffalo just two Sunday nights from now. This team is hungry and no doubt relishes the opportunity for a big win to start the season. And for running back Katon Mitchell, it will be an opportunity to return to form after a devastating knee injury in 2023. Coming off a great training camp where he looked dynamic and quick, Katon is more than ready to show out on the field. Let’s hear his inspirational journey from the man himself. All you all you guys that played for the first time, you did it. You did it. You got a pick. You did it. You got an interception, right? Yes, sir. Guys played well. It was physical out there. Defense came up physical. Offense was physical. All right. We ran the ball. We were physical. How about a running back? Where’s our running back at? Last man stand. [Applause] And all the other guys, too, man. I just I’m proud of you guys. It’s the way that’s the way we fight. And there’ll be so many things to look at. There’ll be so many great things to look at. And there’ll be other things to get better at. Right. Let’s do it. Family on three. Family on three. 1 2 3. All right. [Music] It’s been great to see Katon Mitchell look back to being Katon Mitchell. The speed, the elusiveness, and I think he’s a stronger runner now than he was a couple years ago. That makes him even more dangerous. my rookie year. It was a long journey being undrafted. Signed into a team that my dad played for was kind of cool. And u when I got up here, a lot of people, it was like a warm welcome. Just trying to earn my stripes. Um special teams showing what I can do. Finally getting the chance. One play versus Detroit led up to multiple plays versus Seattle. Inside hand off. Keith Mitchell the tackle. He’s in the 35 30 leg raise 20 rookies to the 10. Touchdown Ravens. Keith Mitchell. Oh, the great took off. Keith stealing him. Yeah, he got it. He got it. And that just sparked my career. And then obviously the injury happened. Mitchell looking for something on the right. Gets around the edge. He’s to the 2530. Breaks a tackle but is pulled down the last. He hurt and he is down. It was my ACL, PCL, LCL, hamstring. It was a lot. Just adversity that everybody got to face. um once in their life and that was a long journey. A lot of people react from it different. Some people don’t come back from it, some people do. I just looked at it like this is my story. Like you can’t tell me what can I come back from, what I can’t come back from. So do you want this story to be one of the best stories written or like do you want them to write your story and be like, “Yeah, that’s it. He’s done. He won’t be the same no more.” So talking to God and being with him and like knowing that with him like anything can happen, anything is possible as long as you believe. I tell the guys like I know it suck like you going to have the time you like man I don’t want to do this but the time that you can’t do it but you want to like and it’s taken from you then you just see how much the game really mean to you. Every time I look at them I just think I overcame something that a lot of people don’t overcome. So, it’s like a big accomplishment for me. Having these scars is like achievement, uh, success, glory. Mitchell to the five. Touchdown, Ravens. Katon Mitchell is back and the Ravens are in front. It was a lot of emotion. I didn’t let it all out, but this whole year they going to feel the whole raft like I’m back. Like, let’s do it. In Katon’s lone preseason performance against the Colts, he averaged over seven yards per carry and found his way into the end zone on a 22yd touchdown run. When I spoke to him for that piece, he told me last season he felt like he only had one gear, but now he feels like he has all his gears back and you could just tell how excited he is to be back to Katon Mitchell. Coming up on Ravens Report, Gaier Alexander is miked up and which one of his teammates asked for his autograph. We’ll show you right after this break. Ravens Report is brought to you by MedStar Health, the trusted medical team of the Baltimore Ravens and you. MedStar Health, it’s how we treat people. and by Mnt Bank, the official bank of the Baltimore Ravens. Welcome back to Ravens Report. The 2025 NFL season is right around the corner and in Baltimore, the expectation is for the Ravens to defend their AFC North title and become the first team in division history to repeat as AFC North champs. So, a group that will be a key part of that title defense will be the secondary. And let me tell you, this group is stacked. It features five former firstround draft picks in Marlon Humphrey, Kyle Hamilton, Nate Wiggins, this year’s first round draft pick Malachi Starks, and recent free agent signing Gaier Alexander. Now, Jaier was obviously excited to link back up with former college teammate Lamar Jackson. And his excitement rolled over to our stadium practice during training camp where Jaier got to see Mnt Bank Stadium for the first time as a Raven. [Music] Welcome. How are you? Is this a shorter line here? [Music] Milo, let’s have a day, my boy. [Applause] That’s good lit. Yeah. 23 is miked up. He said it’s a lot of work to get to the NFL. What do you think? Yeah, I did it. I know. Is it is a lot of work though, right? Oh, it’s not easy work. It’s just like getting a on the test. Got to put the work in. I’m going to stick. I’m going to take that four. That’s four. You going to try to get How many you want me to get? Three. Three. Three. That’s it. Three. I got two yesterday. 15 for the season today. You want three? Yeah. Okay. Yeah. All right. Yeah. Hey, man. If you if your if your goal’s not big enough or people laughing at them, you know, they’re just not big enough, man. You know, you got to shoot for the moon. Jier Alexander to me from day one with the Ravens acted like he’d already been here for 5 years. He’s completely comfortable in his own skin. He’s got an aura about him that players love and coaches. He’s just has everything you want from a guy who they bring in to be so a so-called missing piece. Let’s go. It don’t matter how many people in the stands, man. Go. It’s another day to get better. [Music] What’s up, big guy? Hey, bro. Brent, nice to meet you, bro. Who? Who? Oh, we’re Herb. All right. All right. Nice to meet you, bro. Already. What’s going on, Mr. R? We calling in fat today. Always, always, always, baby. A lot of push offs by offensive, you know. A lot of push offs, man. See, I love to hear. Tell them, Floyd. You got some words of wisdom. Have company yourself. This dude right here taught me how comfort. That’s oldest vent. Hey, man. You rich. Hey. Hey, you almost made me shed a tear, man. Hey, man. You got two mouthpieces. Yeah. How come? Drip. Oh, Gerald. I think it just get the rookies and people that haven’t been here used to the crowd and used to playing with our crowd because I feel like our crowd is a good crowd. They loud. Let’s get the ball on three. 1 2 3. We talking all day. Hey, let’s talk. They say yo, baby. Get hurt. Oh, I got boogie. Oh, I’m going hard now. I’m going hard. Get off me, boogie. Oh, man. A blessing. Y’all You know what? Y’all outdoing yselves today, man. I’m just going to stand over here. Yes. Six, seven. Hey Nate, good talk, boy. Yeah, that how we do it. Yeah, that how we do it. Oh, just waiting on my moment, bro. Wait on my eye, bro. You know what I’m saying? You know what I’m saying? Start. Feel me? Got like five of them yesterday, you feel me? We’re just waiting. Just waiting, bro. It’s going to come. How I look in practice, I’m going to look like that in the game cuz I practice how I play. So, ain’t nothing going to change. That was a good step for us. I think for young guys to get out here and just to feel what it’s like to come in the locker room, you know, that’s kind of a big deal. That was fun. And the fans are great. I mean, just such a passionate city for football and it’s it’s really just a big blessing to be a part of it. First day in this kind of a new situation. Felt pretty good about all that. That was a great practice. We got a lot done, lot to learn from, right? Long way to go still, but we made progress today, right? Make sure you sign autographs, okay? Take care of the fans. Enjoy yourself. Enjoy these great fans we got. That was fun today, man. Get you young guys or you new guys. Get a little sense, right? Young sense, right? Nothing like it. Bring it. Hey, man. You make some special memories in here, man. It’s going to be a great year. Setting the foundation right now, man. And hey, he’s going to be here before we know it, bro. So, let’s keep working. Let’s get better every single day. And let’s get it. Ravens on three. 1 2 3. And that’s practice. We here to get better. On the road to the Super Bowl, baby. There you go. There you go. There you go, buddy. There you go, buddy. Don’t wash it, my boy. Hey, hey, this the autograph y’all want right here. No, that’s you, bro. This the autograph y’all want. I got you, man. I got you, man. I got you, man. The air is different out here. You know what I’m saying? the fans out here. We’re having a great time. We’re flying around. We’re having fun. Most importantly, we’re showing love to the fans. And uh it’s just been great out here. Blessed to be here. Go Flock. All of these backpacks over here are already filled. So, let me show you. And then look right here. Hey, hey, hey. That’s nice. Look how nice those are. Welcome. Welcome. Welcome. Welcome. What’s up? What’s up? What’s up? What’s up? What’s up? What’s up? How you doing? Good. Guys, can we say hi to Mr. Jier? Hello. All right. So, here we go. And we’re going to go to All right. Got you. It’s a great feeling to have the the city embracing me and then the kids doing the celebration. I mean, come on. Like this is why I do this, you know. This is why I do this and it’s to impact others. Purple. Yes. Winner winner. Yes. No problem. I’m a big fan. You’re a big fan. Hey man, I’m a big fan of you, man. I can remember as far as 7 years old attending the Steve Smith football camp and you know how much impact that had on me growing up and just to be you know a vessel for these kids. I mean it’s it’s nothing like it. Oh, thank you. Good smile. Smile. Yes. Good job, bro. Good job. What’s going on, boss? Come on, man. Get up in here, man. I mean, sometimes these kids, you know, sometimes they don’t have much. They don’t have anything, you know. So, just to be able to give back and see a smile on their face, that’s all that matters to me. I think I speak for everyone when I say, can Jaier be miked up for every game? Alexander is a two-time Pro Bowler who will bring a savvy veteran presence to this secondary group. And with the swagger he admits, yeah, he fits right in with that room. Coming up on Ravens Report, the Indianapolis Colts and the Ravens squared off in the first preseason game of training camp. But before that, the two teams hit the grid iron here in Owings Mills for joint practice. We had Zay Flowers on the mic, and you already know that’s mustwatch television. We’ll be right back. Welcome back to Ravens Report. Back in early August during the dog days of summer, the Ravens welcomed the Indianapolis Colts to the Under Armour Performance Center in Owings Mills for a joint practice. Players always embraced the opportunity to face off against different colors after months of work against their own teammates. We had 2024 Pro Bowler Z Flowers miked up for that joint session. So, let’s go inside training camp practice with number four. The Ravens hosting the Indianapolis Colts for a joint session ahead of Thursday’s preseason opener. Everybody excited? Ready to go? All right, let’s go to game day. Game day. It’s like game day. Let’s go be the Ravens. All right, let’s go to work. A lot of energy, right? I mean, just amps up a little bit when you get to these kind of practices. So, good for us. Just competing against another team instead of going against our guys all the time, uh, your competitive side starts to kick in a little more. These joint practices are absolutely critical to kind of measure up where you are. And now, just about a month out from the regular season opener. Exciting, you know, just to go to practice and have another opponent come here. Of course, you want to get hyped up this different team. You’re not going against your own teammates. It has a different feel to it, but it’s still football. Want to have fun while competing. Time to go. Got to get the legs moving. Here we go. Let’s get some money. Let’s get some money. There you go. And get some money. Hey, there you go. Hey, when I put on my mask, that’s like me like Superman putting on his suit when he running. You know what I mean? You rip it off. Yeah, that’s that’s what it is. Yeah, it’s go time. It’s go time. [Music] I think joint practices are going to be very important for the Ravens in that so many teams now don’t play their starters during the preseason. So for the starters, joint practices are where they get the bulk of their work. Let’s go, Mike. Let’s go. Mike Green hit him. Gave him chess. I chess, too. The joint practices are the closest thing they’ll have to the regular season before the regular season begins. [Applause] Yo, you good? Good. Hell yeah. Hell yeah. Now I feel good. It’s good to see a different color, ain’t it? I murdered his ass. I couldn’t see. I just saw you with separation in it. Oh yeah. Too much Taye. That’s too much. Hey, you see my point? Too much. Run. You want to give? Huh? You want to give? No. Why you want me to go? Yeah. Too much at the top. Huh? You got to come. Yeah. You ain’t have to leave. Just run. But look, he got after I beat him. I’m telling you, T. Yeah. He going to throw. He going to throw it where it ain’t. Yeah. He going to keep you high. All right. Give him somewhere alone. Huh? You got to go, right? Huh? You got to go. Yeah. Give him some time. Bro, you too fast. Tell them what I’m trying to tell you. Like, give him some time. Like, play with him. Take off. You feel me? They be so fast, Chaz. I don’t think he understands. Hey, come on. Let’s get money, man. Let’s get money. Let get money. [Music] You see it uphill. I don’t know if you can tell the guy like fell behind me, bro. Hey, dude. For real? On the shell right there? Yeah. You hear the little I did like this. [Music] Down. Touchdown, bro. Watch the next one. I’m going to go papa outside. Oh my god. You seen that? His lucky talking about good job. I know. You ain’t got to tell me. A like you’re in the lead. That my my first time. I looked around like, “Yo, bro, I’m in the league.” I couldn’t believe. I’m like I’m looking down. I used to seeing a red jersey. You Yeah, we here. Now we got to work now. Time to work. Now you go get yours. You feel me? You know, you know that. Talk. Okay, maybe we can just alternate mking up Jire and Zay this season because clearly they both bring the energy when the mic is hot. Coming up on Ravens Report, we’re just two weeks away from the season opener in Buffalo. So, how do I feel about where this team is at? I’ll let you know after this quick break. Welcome back to Ravens Report. I know all 32 NFL teams are saying the same thing right now, but I’m telling you, the energy around this Baltimore Ravens team heading into week one is just different. Listen, it’s no secret last year didn’t end the way anyone in Baltimore wanted it to. But I can tell you, this group is hungry to finish the job. What’s so exciting is that all three phases of this team look ready to roll tomorrow if they had to. On offense, Lamar Jackson has more weapons than he’s ever had. Derrick Henry in year two, the addition of DeAndre Hopkins, plus Z Flowers, Rashad Baitman, Mark Andrews. Yeah, that’s a lot of firepower. Defensively, the Ravens reloaded. Gaier Alexander brings swagger and leadership to the secondary. And some of these young rookies like Malachi Starks and Mike Green have been flying around making plays all camp. Plus, how about that contract extension for Kyle Hamilton. Welld deserved for number 14. And don’t forget about special teams. Rookie kicker Tyler Loop looks sharp this preeason. And you know in Baltimore, special teams always matters. So yeah, it’s been a long off season, but fans, the wait is almost over. Week one is just around the corner and I know I speak for everyone when I say I cannot wait to see how this team sets the tone for what should be a really fun season. Thanks for watching and we’ll see you next week to talk Ravensvilles.

The Ravens are ready for the 2025 NFL season after a successful training camp.
