Next year is our year and I ran the numbers and here’s why. – Lars Nootbaar remains healthy and doesn’t have a 2 month slump. – Ivan Herrera remains healthy (achieved by juicing). – Jordan walker and Nolan Gorman figure it out (Jordan bats .300 with an ops of 850 and gorm smashes 47 gorm bombs). Masyn Winn does masyn winn things (prince). Brendan Donovan stays on the team and signs a 6 yr $12 million extension (that’s $2m aav {nice work Chaim}). Matthew Liberatore and Sonny Gray both run several marathons this offseason to get into good shape (each throw 190 innings sub 3 era). Alec Burleson and Victor Scott II trade body parts (Alec gains some speed while Vic becomes a good hitter). Pedro Pages and Yohel Pozo fuse (using gamma rays, we combine them into one good catcher). And finally, Nolan Arenado wins MVP (900 ops, gold glover, bangin ladies left and right). If all these things go according to plan, we may have a shot at a wild card spot. Maybe.
Why is it that every time there’s a game on at an acceptable hour on a weekend we lose. Are the Cardinals allergic to Sunday mornings?
Disappointing…
In the words of the immortal prophet Meatloaf: “Two out of three ain’t bad.”
Walker is 23, so what? He’s not getting better in his 3rd MLB season, he’s regressing.
This year, 300 AB’s, .223 BA, .272 OBP, 34% SO rate, .596 OPS.
Last 15 games, 51 AB’s, .137 BA, .200 OBP, 39% SO rate, .515 OPS.
He is not close to being worthy of a 26 man roster spot. Spend all of 2026 in AAA or DFA him. His WAR is -1.9 meaning any replacement AAA or any player available is a 1.9 game WAR improvement. If this team intends to improve next year, Walker can’t be on it.
