We haven’t drafted a first-round QB since Archie Manning in the 70s, while other teams have found both success (Mahomes/Chiefs) and failure (Trey Lance/49ers) by taking that shot. We missed out on Dart when the Giants moved back into the first round for almost nothing (2nd & 3rd 2025, 3rd 2026), especially if he becomes their franchise QB.

Shough in the 2nd is our highest QB pick in years, but historically we stick to O-linemen, pass rusher projects, and late-round QB flyers (Haener, Rattler, Book, etc.). If Shough or Rattler don’t work, is it finally time to gamble on a first-round QB instead of hoping a sleeper pans out?

  1. Make no mistake about it 1st round QBs are “shots” as well and far from a guarantee

  2. I’m like 95% neither are the QB for the future so…in my head we either gotta get lucky with a Drew Brees FA or a good QB in the draft

  3. If they flop, Saints get a top 5 pick. It’ll be used on a QB.

Even if they’re mid, the Saints might trade into the top 5 for a QB.

  4. Jesús. Too many of yall do not give a qb enough time to develop. 3 seasons in the league minimal before you know a qb isn’t going to work out

  5. It doesn’t matter if we nail a qb if our cap space is trash and we can’t have supporting talent.

  6. Have to hope Shough plays enough games to be able to tell if he’s a flop or not, if they switch late in the season and he plays decent the decision might become more difficult

  7. Keep building. We need an elite pass rusher. And a reliable X receiver. Until we can get the guy we actually want at QB I say keep building the foundation.

  8. There’s no middle ground. Either they ball out and we do well, or they need to tank hard as fuck and look like the Browns so we can get that top 3 pick.

  9. Trade up next next year and get Arch so he and his Grandpa can start and end career as Saints
