Vikings “Optimistic” Jalen Nailor (Hand) Plays Week 1 vs Bears

[Music] on to Romes. So, of course, the news in the Vikings receiving room is Amro Ezekiel the returning to the Vikings. It’s awesome, man. Right. But also Jaylen Speedy Naylor, who was set for a really solid season in a contract year. Uh, apparently he may be available for week one, which is really good. And I’ve always liked Speedy Naylor. Uh, and he’s really wellliked in the wide receiver room as well. Has had some durability issues uh going back to his time at Michigan State as well as early in his NFL career, but just really hoping that things get together. And he’s wearing number one now. And you’re like, number one in your program, number one, your hearts, all that stuff. And at his best, he can fly in, take the top off the defense, be productive in this offense. We’ve seen that, right? uh but had a jammed hand uh as well. He wasn’t having a great training camp and then he had a jammed hand and then there was some cloak and dagger going around. Is there going to be surgery? Was there a surgery? Was he going to end up on IR? But apparently Vikings pretty optimistic that he’s going to go for week one. Jeremy Fowler. The Vikings are optimistic. I just said that about wide receiver Jaylen Naylor hand uh playing week one versus Chicago. Barring a setback per sources. Minnesota envisions a key role for Naylor especially with Jordan Addison out via suspension. So, you know, since there obviously aren’t injury reports for preeason and training camp, I mean, probably never fully know what was going on with the hand. And even if he’s on the injury report this next uh this upcoming week uh for Bears, uh it’ll just be like hand. Uh so, we don’t know. Was it ligament? Was it structural? Was it something? Who knows? Uh, but it’s good news uh that Naylor, who missed the the back end of training camp, preseason, uh, looks revved up, ready to go because, let’s be honest, like he filled in very nicely for Addison last season when he had his second high ankle sprain. Uh, and Naylor scored a touchdown in each of his first three games. Chemistry between him and Sam Darnold was transparent. And I feel like at his best, Naylor can shine. Naylor can do some good things. And I I know all the drops and stuff like that. He actually only had four drops last year, but they’re pretty big. They’re pretty significant. Not notably that first Rams game. Aya Aya Aya. Uh but a couple things with Naylor. So he was not placed on injured reserve designated for return. So that’s obviously a positive sign. Otherwise, they probably would have put him on there if he was going to miss at least four games. Addison suspended three games and only Thelen was added to the roster. So no other wide receivers were added besides Thelen. So that makes you feel pretty optimistic about Naylor and it shows that the Vikings are pretty bullish about his chances to contribute early. Otherwise, you know, they probably would have signed KJ or other wide receiver TBD. All right. Also, the Vikings did play 11 personnel at 56.6% of the time in 2024. You know, it’s it’s basically it’s the base offense of the modern NFL. And yes, you know, the Vikings running two tight ends makes sense. Uh CJ Ham on injury deserved for a return that could complicate things. the Vikings playing a little bit heavier, a little bit more two running back sets. Also, Kevin McConnell has said that, you know, perhaps Jordan Mason, Aaron Jones could be in the back field. E either way, if Naylor couldn’t go, it would significantly cut down on the Vikings ability to go uh with 11 personnel, one running back, one tight end, three three wide receivers. Also, like we said, Naylor filled in well for Jordan Addison uh to start the 2024 season. Also, he can certainly be a solid third, fourth option. So, uh, when when you know the Vikings start the first three games of the year, Jefferson one, Thelen two, Naylor three, and after Addison returns, like Naylor can resume being a solid wide receiver four, and maybe that that’s it. Maybe he just isn’t meant for high volume in the National Football League. Maybe physically it just takes its toll, but just a play or two a game just fullon balls out going n 9999 taking the top of that defense like I there’s a spot for it, right? Uh and I know you know people are sort of bummed because you know Naylor hasn’t really risen up the way that you want to uh you’d want to in a contract year but season hasn’t even started man. All right. And he has been in this offense uh more recently than Thean. Even though Theen knows the broad strokes there always new wrinkles, always new caveats, and you know, Naylor has been there and he knows that. So, uh it would be really fantastic that he’s there for week one against the crooked Chicago Bears and also against the Falcons, also against the Bengals. It’s going to be good. Anyways, your thoughts are thoughts. Uh Fer ESPN Vikings optimistic that Naylor will be available week one versus the Bears. Huge, huge good times. Let us know comment section you guys the best to do skull production value.

The Minnesota Vikings are “optimistic” WR Jalen Nailor (hand) will be able to play Week 1 vs the Crooked Chicago Bears.

  1. Just got back from the State Fair… Great day, hopeful news about Nailor, we got Thielen back, this week cant get much better!
    Skol!!

  2. Obviously he’ll be WR3 until Addison gets back. And let’s be real – he had a hard time holding onto the ball when his hand was fine. Hop in he cleans up his drops.

  3. Any receiver playing with JJ and Addison should be feasting. This is especially true in a passing offense. Nailor had a few nice plays last year but he’s underachieved. With a rookie qb and upgraded o-line and running back room, I expect the Vikings to run the ball more this season so receivers will have fewer targets. This, plus the Vikings adding a reliable underneath/possession receiver in Theilen, is not good news for a guy in a contract year

  4. Thielen is 35 yrs old, and both Jets & Addison have missed time with injuries, so having a healthy Nailor will be quite helpful during the season & playoffs, especially since it appears that KOC doesn't believe that Tai Felton is ready to be a regular contributor in the offence.
Hey! It's just over a week until the Vikes hand the Bears their first of many losses this season! SKOL!
