Angels vs. Astros Game Highlights (8/31/25) | MLB Highlights

Third game of this four game series and you’ve got the diesel on the mound. Hunter Brown’s going to tow the rubber for the Astros 10 and six. This season 2.37 is at, er, a interesting start. Last time out, he ended up taking that six loss but he went six and two thirds innings swing and a Miss hunter Brown picks up a strikeout his first of the day getting moncada for the second out of the inning. Trout has been striking out quite a bit. They’re trying to get trout out of this. He has not homered since August 6th and there’s a fly ball to left, but he just gets under this one toward the line. It’s Alvarez and it’s Trout dives in the second with a double Pena ended up almost on the warning track and neither Pena nor Alvarez could corral it. Although Pena came the closest. That’s ball four, it’s a two hour walk and it sets up Joe Adele ground ball softly hit up the middle charging Pena shortstop, has it whips it over to first on the move in time to get a and in the inning two out base runners but no runs. And after a half inning Angels Astros coming up, the Angels will be sending jose Soriano to the mound. He’s won two of his last three starts and pitched well in his most recent outing, that was a ball game of six days ago, five and two thirds. He did not allow any runs walk, just one struck out six. It’s a four pitch walk to Pena to start it off here for Soriano fifth highest walks per nine innings rate of starting pitcher in baseball. Now it’s short on Alvarez turn in left field today, left handed hitter batting 275 ground ball base hit right field. Alvarez finds the hole between 1st and 2nd and the Astros have their first two base runners on. Now here’s Jose Altuve. Altuve and Soriano have an interesting head to head scenario. Altuve faced him three times and he’s drawn three walks. There’s a ground ball to short will go to third base to get him out still two on but one away. And now Carlos Correa will be the next batter breaking ball is in their strike three to the slider. He knew it too. Correa knew it still two. And on Jesus sanchez, a swing and a miss got a splitter by him and the side is retired back to back strikeouts for Soriano after he started the inning by allowing back to back base runners. And after one Astros Angels, nothing walker right handed hitting first baseman batting 2 , 38 302 on base percentage swing. And a Miss Soriano’s got some good stuff today. Walker strikes out three in a row for Soriano and another to strike out Diaz two outs, four straight strikeouts for so and now it’s ramon breaking ball buckle but he took ball four. Next pitch is bounced on the right side. It’s handled by ran and his throw will get Melton and the inning is over an easy 43 ground out to wrap things up here in the second Angels and Astros head to the third inning, hunter Brown with a good second inning getting a 123 2nd throwing 11 pitches in the second inning. He’ll face the nine hitter Oswald Perez. There is number 179 tying his career high as he gets Peraza for the first out of the third. Here’s Neto flew out to left field his first time up on a 30 pitch. There’s one at the bottom of the zone that too close to take on 32 as he has a word for Mark Ripperger on his way back to the dugout and it’s Lowe ball four. So a two out walk Trout and a bloop double in the shallow left field. His last time up on the ground diving stop by Mike Trout to end the inning. The Angels strand. A man will go to the bottom of the third inning at park first out of the inning. Here’s Alvarez Jordan singled which is on the outside corner, strike three back door strikeout number five for Soriano. First time Jordan has struck out since coming back from the I here’s two outs. Love a quick inning here. Fastball got a strike three at the top of the zone. Fourth strikeout for Brown in a 123. 4th inning. We played 3.5 in Houston. jose Soriano is on his very best until he clears the fourth inning. This has been his real hurdle this year getting through the fourth breaking ball grounded sharply but he from his very nicely done by Louis over there went diving to his right that from his knees. That was incredible to stop and getting enough on that throw, Sanchez strikes out a nasty splitter. He got him with that pitch earlier too. Struck him out. Two were gone. Here’s the pitch on walker softly hit third base side charging his throw is in and the inning is over. No score Astros and Angels top of the fifth. Oh, yeah. Oh yeah. Hunter Brown just lock it up. Lugo with that curveball. That strikeout number five for Hunter. His last three have been called third turn. First baseman struck out his first time up. There’s a drive out to right center by goes back and it is has his first home run as an Angel. He punches it out to right and the Halos take a 10 lead. So the go ahead two run single in the ninth inning yesterday and a home run today, 10 Angels lead the Astros as we start the 600 Brown 78 pitches for the first five walks on four pitches. Third walk that Brown has allowed and the Angels have a two out base runner for Joe Adell. Two out runners will have a chance to extend the lead here. Curveball bounced softly up the middle charging Pena. He has it throws on the move to first in time to get Rengifo. And in the inning, Brown Strands , a couple of two out base runners and we’re through 5.5 and Soriano has retired 15 out of 16 down the line. That’s fair with a throw of time to get Pena shoulder work and Then you make a play like that and quickly got rid of it. The Hobbs and the throw now 11 in a sit down by Soya since he walked to re that one ball four. So is the first baserunner for Houston since the second inning and he reaches the one grounds it to short, could be two second for one relay to first and there it is a double play and that’s the first one the Angels have turned today and that’s how the inning will end right there. Lance mccullers, Jor making an appearance out of that bullpen for the first time since 2018 in the regular season got him. Lance picks up a strikeout first outing out of the bullpen since 2018. He strikes out Travis Darna has a second hit today. It’s a two out single for Peraza. He’s on in second scoring position with two outs, a runner in scoring position. There’s two outs. There you go. NATO goes down on strikes, mccullers starts the inning and ends the inning with a strikeout on the shoulders of Jose Soriano here as he takes the man with 80 pitches thrown through six innings. He’s allowed only one hit a couple of walks and he will face Carlos Correa to lead off the bottom of the seventh inning swing and a miss strike 399 downstairs strikeout number seven today at 10 when he faced the Astros earlier this year against team that largely does not strike out much soft bouncer , try to cover first here but won’t need them two outs, 88 pitches and 62 3rd swing and a miss strike three. But the ball goes to the backstop to play by scream on the slap shot. And the inning officially ends on the strikeout the eighth in the ball game for Soriano Lance mccullers Jr his second inning of relief side ball four. So moncada walks to leadoff here in the eighth and mike Trout will be the next batter, Mike Trout just a 207 average against mccullough’s in his career six for 29. Here’s a drive left center from Trout. Melton’s back at the wall. It is off the wall. Gets to third. He’s being waved home. He’ll score mike Trout. It’s a rocket. It’s an RB I Devil and it’s 20 Angel. We said he was close. He’s here now, first out in the inning IFO will stand in bouncer out in front of home plate, but colors comes in to get it off balance. Here comes trapp to the plate and the Angels add to the lead. It’s 3 to 0. Walker couldn’t handle the high throw from mccullers at first base. Here’s the veteran Luis García on the mound in the bottom of the eighth inning with a three run cushion. Andreas clubs. This one pretty deep to left back on it now and unable to get it crashing into the wall, tear the war shaken up as the ball is picked up by Teodosio and in the second base, he’s immediately asking for the trainers to come out. He did something bad. You can see the blood for me. He needs a towel. Chafin coming out of the bullpen right away to help close that cut. Taylor Ward went head first into the wall in left field right on the top of the right eyebrow. It looked like a scary moment for Taylor Ward. The Astros fans give a hand as he gets carted off here. They had the one out double, they’ll leave that runner at second base and we are moving on to the ninth trying to put the finishing touches on a 3 to 0 win. Kenley Jensen get his, er, a back under three if he puts up to zero as he did last night and the Astros are down to their final out. Bring up Correa who is 0 to 3 struck out twice, grounded out once lifts this one in the shallow left racing in, he gets there, makes the catch on the side is retired and that is the ball game. The los Angeles Angels win their second in a row over the Astros and taken two of the first three games of this series with a 3 to 0 victory.

  1. Finally Mike Trout the OG Best Got a Pair of Hits in this Game!!!!! Hopefully he can reach 400 before the season ends but most importantly at least be 70 percent of the player he once was 🙏

  2. Jose Soriano was in his element and another amazing performance from him! I can already see being a future Cy Young Award contender if not a winner
