Kobe was so serious 24/7 around other basketball players. Lebron was the only one who could get him to crack a smile. In large part that was because Bron was one of the few players Kobe truly respected. Ultimately, the Bron/Kobe dynamic played a huge role in helping the team chemistry for the redeem team en route to gold

I remember watching all of the coverage of the ’08 Olympic team. All of the younger guys (Bron, Wade, etc) would always be joking and teasing Kobe during the trip. But after Kobe carried the team to Gold when it mattered most, their admiration for him increased.
