Mookie Betts explains why he wanted to get sent down in 2014 by Boston @geico

I remember when I first came up veterans kind of randomly. There wasn’t that many young guys coming up. I started in double A and then I went to AAA and we all kind of moved together in DA and AAA and then I got the call to the big leagues and we had a lot of veterans there and I remember like they weren’t playing great and in Boston if you’re not playing good like the fans are going to let you know, right? And so it was just kind of like a a a bad situation in the locker room. I did not enjoy it at all. I really hated it because there was just a lot of just saltiness going around. I remember going to Tory and telling him like, “I don’t want to be here. I want to get sent down. Can you tell them to send me down so I can go have fun playing baseball?” He really just kind of talked to me and kind of was like my dad. Like kind of Yeah. No, he he the best doing that. You’re lucky you get to have someone like Tori just because the energy that he invests in every player is is unbelievable. And I don’t even know how he has that kind of bandwidth to do stuff like that. And I remember talking to him about my wife and talking to him about baseball and just about just anything. And this is during the game like we he would just stop whatever he’s doing and we would talk during the game. And so I’m sure he does that with you guys now. Yeah. No, he does. He does. Definitely he does. Yeah. [Music]
