What About The Miami Dolphins Makes You Feel Optimistic About 2025!

So yesterday we were a little negative nancies, but today going to be a little bit positive. [Music] What is up Finn fans? How is everyone doing on this Monday? Literally just got done watching the Hurricanes beat Notre Dame and golly G Willickers does. How are Hurricane fans also Dolphin fans? Because I’m not a hurricane fan, right? I kind of just like watching games and, you know, I don’t really follow a certain team, so I’m just kind of watching and if I’m like, “Oo, this is a good game.” Like, normally Saturdays I pull up the scores of the game and I’m like, “Hey, this one’s close. Let’s watch it.” I like watching blowouts. They’re boring. But obviously I’m like, “Hey, let me see how the Hurricanes are doing.” You know, they were I think they were ranked number 10 and I think Notre Dame was ranked six or something like that. And I caught the second half of the No, sorry. It was right at that ridiculous catch by Daniels. The the just crazy catch before the half. That’s when I started watching it. Again, if you’re a Hurricanes fan and you’re a Dolphins fan, you probably are on so much heart medication is not even funny. That game was nuts. But today, we are talking positivity going into the 2025 season. Tomorrow I mean giving you my record predictions. Wednesday I’m giving you my picks. Now, like I said yesterday, we kind of talked about the negatives, kind of things that are kind of bogging us down going into the season. Now, I’m going to start talking about the positives. One, and again, this isn’t a list of like one to whatever. This is just, you know, a list. Uh, but the first one, the pass rush. I am very, very, very excited to see the rotation of the pass rush of Chub, Chop, Jaylen Phillips, and Matt Judon. I think this fourman rotation is going to be nasty. I think Judon when that with them using primarily of him just getting after the quarterback and not having him drop back into coverage is going to just be nasty. And then these opposing offenses are really going to have to focus on the outside and worrying about, you know, at some point in uh the preseason game against the Jaguars. The the way that they lined it up, it was um I think it was Chop on the one side, Sealer next to him, then Chub and Phillips. Jaylen Phillips that is. And just got right in. I think Ch I think Chop got in. I think that was one of the sacks, but just nasty. And then again, you have Sealer, then you have Kenneth Grant, Jordan Phillips is really start starting to come into his all this front four, front seven, even with Willie Gay Jr. who’s a very good pass rusher. Um Brooks, very good blitzer. You have Dodson. It’s going to be dangerous. And I think that they really focused on adding those. For one, we have a horrible amount of luck with our pass rushers. That’s why they added Judon. But also we have some mobile quarterbacks that we are going to have to take take on essentially. You know, you have Josh Allen obviously you have Justin Fields, Justin Herbert is a mobile quarterback. Um Michael Penn Jr., Lamar Jackson, Jaden Daniels, um Joe Bur’s kind of mobile, but you know, you have these quarterbacks that we’re going to have to take care of. Pass rush. Pass rush. Pass rush. Thing of beauty. I’m so excited to see what this pass rush can do. I think it’s going to be really fun, especially because we were 27th in the NFL last year in uh sacks. So something they really thought about. The other thing safeties I Mika Fitzpatrick has shown really great things um over training camp. Like really really really great things over training camp. You have a Fatu Malifanu who again if the man could just stay healthy which is something that we’ve been saying forever. Going to be a great addition next to Mika Fitzpatrick and as well as Ashton Davis who’s that thumper kind of could be a nickel corner type situation. Play him at the line. Have him be a spy for Josh Allen. Have him crack Josh Allen if he decides I’m going to take off running. The safeties I’m excited for. And even if it’s not Ashton Davis doing that, you take Mika Fitzpatrick, you have him being a spy on uh Josh Allen or any of these mobile quarterbacks. Again, my first two things that I’m excited to see are what’s implemented in this defense to stop mobile quarterbacks because that has been our Achilles heel forever. So, thing of beauty. Another thing that you got to be excited about, Ali Gordon and Devon Han. Now, I know we’ve only see Ali Gordon in preeason and it’s nothing crazy and again you could take it with a grain of salt that it’s just preseason, whatever, but it is promising especially with how hard he was running and then he got a little banged up against the Jaguars and we all kind of held our breath and then he was like, I’m going back in. I’m going back in like just hardnose runner. And then you match that with Devon Aan who to me is a Darren Sprouls type running back who yes, he’s going to get you about 8 900 yards rushing, but he’s also going to get you another 700 yards receiving. Dynamic dynamic one-two punch. And hopefully Jaylen Wright comes back and he’s healthy. You have a nice threeman rotation, right? We brought Jeff Wilson back. We got some other line uh running backs that we brought in. Very, very, very interesting and it’s exciting to see. Again, more weapons added to this offense like they needed any. Um, another positive, and again, this is something that could be a negative, but you can take this as a positive. Mech McM what the crap that was. Mike McDaniel is coaching for his job. It’s there’s no way of looking at it anything any way different. Even if you think Chris Greer is safe and he’s going to use Mike McDaniel as a scapegoat, which I don’t think so. I think if one of them if like the team falls flat on their face, they’re both gone. But McDaniel’s coaching for his job, which means he needs to be on his top game. He needs to be able to make adjustments and make sure he’s doing this and that. And so there’s a lot going on with Mike McDaniel that he needs to be on top of his game. And I think that’s going to translate to a little bit better when it comes to some of the mistakes he’s made as a new head coach with, you know, time management, with play calling in certain certain instances, with abandoning certain aspects of the play. I think that’s really going to push him to be more focused and maybe even ask for help around the guys around him in Darren Beville who has, you know, been to the Super Bowl with uh as an offensive coordinator. Frank Smith, who’s seen as a very smart coordinator, uh Swoick, Slowick, I think is his name that we brought in. Maybe he’ll start to ask around. Another positive you could take out of this. I know it’s a lot of talk and I have that merch that I’m trying to get back out uh through Amazon and again I’m fighting tooth and nail to figure out what the crap is going on uh with the merch getting out there but I know show me but I’m starting to see it a little bit especially with the new attitude of this team. one practice 20 players stayed after the next practice 30 players stayed after both um training camp practice I went to I think one time it was the offense another time was the defense they stayed and did push-ups the joint practice I was there Quinn was out there on his own working um th this team is definitely taking a different mantra if you listen to Ingold if you listen to Brooks if you listen to some of these um captains and some of these vets on this team. They’re definitely taking a different mindset when it comes to how they are approaching this season because maybe they also feel uh what everyone else is feeling with like is this this might be it like this might be it for this regime and for this little rag tag group of people that you really got to coach and you got to fight for your life on this one. Um, another positive second year of Anthony Weaver. Uh, his first year, fourth uh, in yards, 10th in points, I think it was ninth in pass, ninth in rush. Like, he had a good defense and they got no turnovers, and again 27th in sacks. So, just imagine if they start getting turnovers and they start getting pressure with Bradley Chub, Chop Robinson, Jaylen Phillips, Jude, Steeler, Kenneth Grant, Jordan Phillips. they start getting this consistent pressure and the sacks start to build up and we start getting the interceptions on top of what he already has implemented with last year with a top five, top 10 defense, then this team is dangerous to the point where the offense, which should still be dangerous because you still have your weapons, can start to feast off of that. A lot of these games that we lost kind of the defense started to fall apart at the end. the um Cardinals game, Tua left the field with a lead, right? The Buffalo Bills game, Tua marched, the offense, I’m gonna stop saying Tua. The offense marched down the field, scored it a game-tying touchdown. It was the defense that allowed them to get into the most ridiculous field goal range, 61 yard field goal. But there were some games where the defense kind of fell off, but then there were some games where the offense wasn’t helping. Seattle, Indie, you know, all those types of games. So, if this defense can all of a sudden add on the turnovers and the sacks, very very very dangerous. Another thing that you could take some positivity at. There is low low low expectation for this team going into 2025. Look at all the national media. Look at all the pundits. Look at all the people picking the AFC and picking who’s going to make the playoffs and all this stuff. At one point, let me see if I can find it. I’d like to show it to you. At one point, somebody was predicting uh playoff seating and they didn’t even have the Dolphins in there. Let me see if I could find it. Like, not at all. They were doing like playoff seedings and stuff like that and they didn’t even have the Dolphins. They had like the the Jaguars at one point over the Dolphins. Um I’m trying to find I think it was ESPN where they did their prediction preseason report. No. Um, but there’s there’s some people have the Dolphins picking top five, top five in the NFL, which if if that and then I think the person had the Dolphins taking an offensive lineman. If the Dolphins are picking top five, you’re taking a quarterback. Especially with some of the quarterbacks that I’ve been seeing play this weekend, you’re taking a quarterback. There’s no ifands or buts about it. really want to see if I can find it because you got to hear the list of names of teams that have they have above the Dolphins making the playoffs. Like the Dolphins aren’t even the way they did it is they all uh picked essentially, you know, who they think is going to be a wild card team and then they they added I think here it is. They added all the points and the Dolphins weren’t even there. they weren’t even there. So, uh, they have the Buffalo Bills number one. Uh, then they have Baltimore, they have Houston, and they have Kansas City as the champions. So, then we asked voters to pick three wildcard teams for each conference, ranking uh their picks from one to three based on where they projected the squad to land in the pecking order. Here are the totals. So they had number one Cincinnati, number two Denver, number three Los Angeles. Um then they had Kansas City being four, five being Pittsburgh, six being New England, seven being Baltimore, then they have the Raiders at eight, the Jets at nine, the Jaguars at three. They don’t even have the Dolphins. And that’s what I’m talking about. like the the the expectations of this team are lower than you can possibly imagine. Good. Good. Because I don’t like I’ve talked about this before. You look at 2008, win the division, get stomped out by the Ravens. Expectations in 2009 because Chad Pennington was coming back fell on her face. 2016, first year with Adam Gase, we go to the playoffs, lose to the Pittsburgh Steelers, had expectations in 2017, fall flat on our face, and then it’s like the constant 2023, look at this team. Oh my goodness, the reason they fell apart at the end is because of injuries. High expectations for 2024 fall on our face. No expectations. I would love no expectations. And that’s kind of what the team has right now. Another positive is not only is Mike McDaniel coaching for his job, but Tua has a lot to prove. And a lot of times when Tua has a lot to prove or when Tua has a down year, he comes out and he really learns from his mistakes. Now, can he and will he? That’s something that we’re really going to have to see. Um, but it’s going to be interesting to see Tua actually take care of himself and take care of the football. Um cuz if he starts doing that and and he starts especially in the games where we’re it’s close and you know we’re playing those you know highlevel teams and those playoff teams and you know Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens, you know Cincinnati Bengals, those types of teams and he’s smart with the football. They can win those games. They most definitely can win those games. So looking at 2025, to sit here and think 10 wins is out of the realm of possibility and that’s something we can’t do and thinking playoffs is is so far gone that you know it’s laughable to even talk about playoffs. I don’t think so. And and a lot of what I’m saying is not ifs, right? The pass rush isn’t an if. We have talent on that defensive line. The safeties, that’s not an if. Mika Fitzpatrick is talented. Ali Gordon, Devon Achan, talented. Mike McDaniel is coaching for his job. They do have a new attitude. Uh this is a like I have not told you one if if this person can do that except for Tua. Um everything I told you about why you should be optimistic for the season are all facts. They’re legit facts that I’m talking to you about. So it’s going to be interesting. This season could go one of two ways. I will talk all about it tomorrow because I’m giving you my record prediction. I’m talking all about it tomorrow.
