MLB Highlights | Blue Jays vs. Reds – September 1, 2025
Springer’s going. The throw down by Trevinho on a bounce and not in time. Lined up to middle. Dela Cruz with the catch and the double play. Boy, Barger hit it right on the screws, but the 6’5 in shorts stop made a great play and then an equally good one to get the double play. If he’s six foot tall, he doesn’t make this play. Hunter Green gets out of it. Stranding Bette at third. [Music] Blue Jay Enfield double play depth, but this ball’s hit high in the air to deep left center. A long run for Lucas and it’s going to be up off the wall on a bounce. One run is home. Stewart is getting the wave. He’ll score and into third goes Hayes as the Reds lead two to nothing. That was one of the first phone calls he made. In the air to left field, Lucas coming in a couple of steps. Will make the catch. Here comes Hayes. Here comes the throw. He got him. What a peg from left by Nathan Lucas. and got him right back to the slider as he strikes out Springer and the Blue Jays go in order. Pinky really doesn’t have an awful lot to do with it. Green gets him for his fifth strike of the afternoon. It remains two to nothing Reds [Music] on the field and make adjustments. He got him. A cutter up that Stewart swings through. And that’s five strikeouts now for Bassid. Four innings complete here in Cincinnati. The Blue Jays down two to nothing. Led the majors last year at 218. Down the right field line. Barger racing over. Dives. Can’t get it. And it’s a fair ball. And now he’s got to chase after it. And that will allow Dela Cruz to easily make it to third with his seventh triple of the season. Patterson gave it a Yman’s effort down in right field. He tried to dive for it. It hit fair inside the foul line. This is headed to left field and it’s down for a base hit. And Bette is rounding third and coming home with the first Blue Jay run of the afternoon. Bro got a good read on that ball. Recognize that Benson wasn’t going to get to it. And how about Alejandro K. Feel comfortable over there. Learn the nuances of the position because there are many. This is in the air towards right field over near the line. Barger into foul territory. Makes the catch to jump up above that padded wall and made a very good play. And the one two grounded to the left side. The shovel to second for one. and on to first for two. The Reds turn it and still lead. He’s hit it high and deep to right center and it’s gone. [Applause] Have yourself a day, Bo Bishette. his fourth hit of the game and the two-run homer has given the Blue Jays the lead in September. Your stars got to be stars. [Music] Maro hits it to deep right field and that one is gone as well. four-2. That’s the 10th time the Blue Jays have gone back to back this season. Dalton Vo just missed a home run earlier in the bat and he keeps this one fair and deep. His 16th home run of the season. Hard sinking action on his two seamer. [Music] Line to right field. A fair ball into the corner. One run will score. Mlan getting the wave and this game is tied and the 3-2 ground ball base hit. One run is home. Here comes Fredel. Throw to the plate. Not in time and the Reds walk it off. [Applause] [Music]
The Toronto Blue Jays made a valiant effort at a comeback, notching back-to-back home runs in the top of the 9th, but ultimately fell 5-4 to the Cincinnati Reds, who pulled off a thrilling walk off in the final frame.

Cincinnati will pay dearly for this
The Blue Jays need a solid closer. This has been a glaring problem for them for many years and I'm very frustrated with the organization since they have failed to address this fundamental issue.
No reliable closer, no playoff hope
I think the Blue Jays will drop to 2nd or 3rd in the AL East by the end of the week.
Haha! Love to see these Blow jays in action!ππ
little hope for a win when Little pitches
great game
Vladdy being paid big money needs to produce not just sometimes. His hitting makes no sense way out infront not using his legs missing pitches. The pen should of been Rodriguez in the 9th. Bench little too many bad pitches. Joey L. Needs to be be called up look at the Jays record since he was sent to Buffalo.
Little and Hoffman can split the cab fare to nowhere. This is ridiculous. Bring back Fluhardy, FFS.
the bullpen has sucked for multiple years now. they never did enough to fix it and it was obvious.
i don't understand Schneider sending Fluharty down and keeping Little in rotation
We don't want the Yankees to win the division I hate them
Correction if he's 6 feet tall he makes the play.If he was white forget it
Kirk good playπ
Getting tired of bullpen bullshit !
Popkins scared to talk to vladdy and say listen your launch angle is out of whack and your pounding the ball into the ground, look at his swing back when he almost won mvp and say listen this what we have to get back to for you to be successful again, letβs fix this and get on time because your late to every pitch, 3-30 wonβt get it done and he needs to be a superstar coming down the stretch and in the postseason, pete needs to work with the bullpen guys and tell them to snap out of it, itβs mental and you can see it clearly so pete has to fix that bullpen like yesterday, donβt even worry about the starters and focus every second on fixing everyone in that bullpen
Pulling Nance (even though he gave up two singles) for Little was definitely a choiceβ¦
Better luck next time BLUE JAYS. Try again BLUE JAYS.ππππππππ
Try again BLUE JAYS. LET'S GO BLUE JAYS GO!πππππππ
Canadians should be ashamed to support this American nonsense. These guys suck their huge salaries from our economy to support the fascist USA.
If the Jays management are totally committed to Little and Hoffman as their "go to" guys then they can kiss the season goodbye. JS needs to wake up and smell the coffee. He seems to have a hard time facing the current reality with both of these guys. Seriously – OPEN YOUR F__KEN EYES!!
No bullpen no World Series
DFA Little, bring back Fluharty and bring up Yesavage. They can't be any worse.
Tom Henke available?
