NO WAY They Actually Do This…

No way they actually do this. We have a huge report regarding some trades with the New Orleans Pelicans and there has been a lot of talk surrounding what this team does next. The Pelicans have made it very clear they are trying to win basketball games. And now a new report rumor has surfaced regarding multiple Pelicans players and a trade that would absolutely shock fans. And we are going to jump into all of it discussing everything behind it and much more as well. But before we do that, guys, if you are part of that 51% that’s not subscribed to Pelicans Digest, make sure to subscribe for daily New Orleans Pelicans update from myself and Mills. We got a lot of great videos coming out for you guys. And now that it is September, we are going to see basketball news pick back up this month. Training camp starts. There’s going to be the content creation media day situation that happens every year. That’s going to lead to a lot of good quotes and a lot of good videos to make. So, you guys want to make sure to jump in right now so you’re fully prepared for this New Orleans Pelican season that is coming up where things are about to change for this team. Now, jumping into the video, there has been a lot surrounding this Pelicans team thus far. It’s no secret the Pelicans had one of the boldest offseasons of any teams in the NBA this year. A team that did not really succeed at all last season. The Pelicans swapped their first round pick with the Atlanta Hawks, a team that’s fullblown looking like one of the top four teams in the Eastern Conference. And that was to pick a guy who there has been some questions about his fit and if he’s going to work out in Derek Queen when there has been some legitimate concerns about Queen who’s also already went down with an injury having fans very worried that like everyone else who seems to end up on the Pelicans he’s going to deal with the injury bug. Now obviously that’s a big stretch and there’s a lot to go over and no reason to jump the gun on this whole situation. However, what we’ve seen time and time again from the Pelicans is that Joe Dumar is ready to be bold. He he went out there, made multiple moves. I mean, acquiring Jordan Pool, obviously, on top of that, we’ve seen the Derek Queen move. So, we’ve seen the Pelicans be bold. And now with a new trade report up, there has been a lot of discussion surrounding what’s next. And this has Pelicans fans absolutely fired up because no way this actually happens where the Charlotte Hornets are being predicted to land Eaves Missy in exchange for Nick Smith Jr. and a 2027 first round pick that is initially owned by the Miami Heat, meaning it’s based off where the Heat finished with the Charlotte Hornets. And if you hear those sirens outside that it should be going right to Zack Buckley for proposing this idea, with there being a lot of questions surrounding each of these teams right now, it was mentioned by Zack Buckley that you wouldn’t know it based on the 179 losses the Hornets have piled up over the past three seasons, but this is a group that could be closing in on a sizable step forward. Granted, the Hornets need much better fortunes on the health front to make that happen, but they had the kind of smart summer that could allow them to climb the ladder in the wide openen Eastern Conference. Now they still have a pretty glaring hole at the five though where Mason Plumbley predicts to warm the seat until Ryan Cochr Brener and Musa Debbate are ready to fill it or Charlotte could seek out a summer thing like Eves or sherer thing a summer thing like Ees Missy who flashed an NBA ready rim running skills as a rookie but could still be expendable after New Orleans added both Derk Queen and Cavon Looney at significant costs this off season. Now, this is you guys have heard Zack Buckley’s side about this. Let me explain the reason why I’m making this video when I understand people are going to be like, “This is complete BS. Why would you talk about this?” He didn’t draft Eves Missy. He didn’t. He drafted Derek Queen, though. Look, it’s not the most shocking thing in the world to see a guy come into an organization, see a few pieces here and there that he’s not the biggest fan of, and decide it’s time to make his own mark on the team or their own mark. just, you know, you know. Yeah. So, when it comes down to it, it’s a situation where we’ve seen this happen before. We’ve seen new management take over, decide, we’re putting our own stamp on the team. We want to do this. We don’t fully trust this player’s future. We’re going to make a change. We’re going to do something different. We’re going to leave our mark right now. And with that in mind, this is why this actually holds water. This is why this has legs. Yeah, Evesy had an excellent season last year. I’m not denying that. I love Ees Missy. I don’t want him to get traded. He’s a guy who put up nine points per game last year and eight rebounds, was a very good rim running rookie who, yeah, maybe doesn’t have the world’s highest ceiling, but if he continues to play like this and continues to improve where there definitely is some room for improvement, it makes sense to keep him around. I mean, the free throw percentage for a rim running big man was pretty solid. And on top of that, we saw a guy who shot 55% from the field under the rim with solid defense as well. So when we look at Missy, he is someone who it’s really one of these situations where if he is to get moved, it’s because Joe Dumar wants to do his own thing at the position. And honestly, that is very very very it’s a lot more realistic than you’d think. Derrick Queen was brought in by Joe Dumar, a trade that sent away the first round pick the Pelicans own next year despite having a bad record last season. Well, Dumar thinks they can contend and he thinks Derrick Queen can be a big part of it. Queen is a versatile big man because his ability to shoot the three. Obviously, he didn’t shoot the most successfully at college, but it’s something he’s continued to work on and wants to be able to do at the NBA level and it’s something he’s projected to be able to do. At college, he put up 16 and a half points, nine rebounds, and two assists. He shot 52% from the field, 20% from three. Shot 76% from the free throw line and 25 and had 25 per or nearly a 25 per. Look, can he play power forward? Maybe. I don’t really see him as a power forward at all. I see him as a center who could kind of space the floor is more the guy I’m looking at here. I’m not looking at him as a power. I know some people are. I don’t really see it. And on top of that, there’s also Cavon Looney on this team who just got signed. And it would make more sense to sign him if you knew that Missy wasn’t long for the team. I mean, you look at Cavan Looney. Last year, he put up four and a half points per game, six rebounds, and one and a half assists with the Golden State Warriors where he had spent around 10 seasons. He shot 51% from the field. And you can kind of not really pay attention to the 40% from three because Kavon Looney doesn’t really shoot threes. It’s on very very very very low low percentage or low attempts. So, it’s not something that we really have to consider there, but it is interesting as well. Now, in this trade, Nick Smith Jr. would be getting traded to the Pelicans. I don’t understand this because there’s not a need for this guard right here. I like Nick Smith as a player. I actually think he has a ton of potential. I know his numbers don’t show it right now, shooting 39% from the field and 34% from three, but I do actually think Nick Smith is a very talented player, specifically on the offensive end. He put up 10 points and two rebounds and two and a half assists last year. I do think that he can grow and have that breakout year with the Hornets, but also I do think a change of scenery might not hurt because he could use a veteran guard to kind of mentor him a little bit. Like if a team wanted to buy lower on Nick Smith, I think the I think the Clippers make a ton of sense for that reason so that he could be around a lot of veteran guards so he could be at the uncction. But that’s not the point of this video. I just obviously Nick Smith would be the return package, but it it wouldn’t really. It would be that first round draft pick, of course, that would be the big return. I mean, that’s the thing that we look at right now. And we look at how Zack Buckley mentioned that Macy’s offense production, offensive production could perk up alongside a playmaker of LaMelo Ball’s ilk. While his paint protection would be invaluable at the center position of this young defense, the Pels meanwhile might see Smith as a backcourt in case their Jordan pool gamble doesn’t pay off. Plus, they could be attracted to this pick, which holds lottery protection in 2027, but becomes unprotected in 2028 if it hasn’t conveyed. It wouldn’t be shocking to see the Miami Heats start to eventually slow down. I mean, at some point statistically, they got to ha have some sort of bad year, whether it’s due to injuries or because they they’re being a little shaky on this Tyler Hero situation where they don’t exactly want to pay Hero the money that Hero wants. So, there has been some trade talks. It wouldn’t be the most shocking thing for the Heat to eventually start to collapse. It doesn’t feel like Pat Riley’s going to be running the Heat for that much longer as well. Also, when you consider that on top of it, it wouldn’t be surprising if someone else comes in and kind of decides, nope, we’re going to tear it down and build it back up again. Maybe we’ll keep Bam around, but we’re going to try to do a quick one-year reset, rebuild, reload situation that teams have done in the past. We’ve seen the Golden State Warriors pull that off. We’ve seen the Boston Celtics attempt it going into next season. So, it is something that teams do, and it sounds like something I could see the Heat doing down the line as well, which does have an impact on everything. But also, when you look at a guy like Hunter Dickinson, he also then gets a bigger role with the Pelicans as well. The Pelicans brought in Dickinson after his college career ended. He was an excellent college player who averaged 17.4 points per game for his career and for the 2024 25 season, which is absolutely kind of funny that that ended up happening that way. He also averaged 10 rebounds last year and two assists. He does shoot threes. He didn’t shoot the most successfully last year, especially compared to the past years, but he did show some free throw percentage shooting, which is solid because if you could shoot free throws at a 75% clip, you should be able to become a decent enough three-point shooter as well. So, you consider that. You consider the elite peer that Dickinson continued to have throughout his time. And then also Carlo Makovich, who is someone who definitely, if you’ve seen Pelicans games, there’s a reason to be excited about Makovich. I think he’s got a lot to really work with, and I would not be shocked to see Makovich continue to get minutes with this team going forward. Again, there’s obviously the situation of it is not a Joe Dumar selection. So, we have to consider that because again, it’s not uncommon to see GMs decide to throw out what the last regime wasn’t succeeding with. So, it comes down to that with Joe Dumar. But, it also comes down to the fact that this No, never. If you’re going to trade, if you’re going to trade me, don’t do it for this. I love the pick, but Nick Smith makes no sense in this team. Jordan Pool is a good it was a good trade. What do you guys think? Let me know in the comments down below. I I’m probably done making trade videos for a while on this channel because I’ve done a lot of them and really trade season’s kind of ending. So, it’s been fun doing these trade videos. I definitely enjoy them because I get to talk about players who I really wouldn’t otherwise get to talk about. But, at the same time, I know you guys get sick of it. I understand why you guys get sick of it. It’s not lost on me. I’m not going to continue to hammer these out. I promise. If you’re still here, if you’re still watching this, I have no plans of making one any any anytime soon after this. So, bear with us here. We are going to have some more Pelicans news coming out and we are going to have a lot more videos coming out in general for myself and Mels once we really start to get things underway. I’m so excited for the NBA season. Thank you so much for watching guys as always. Again, I promised we are done with trade videos. This was the final one. Figured we’d end it on this note. Have a great day. I will catch you all later. Happy Labor Day.
