WAIVE JOONAS KORPISALO: Boston Bruins Can’t Risk Losing Michael DiPietro

Unreliable goalending from Swayman. Yes. As well as from Corposalo was a big part of the problem for the Bruins. Meanwhile, Michael Dpietro coming off a breakout year in Providence, 927 save percentage, AHL goalie of the year. That’s a guy who has earned his shot and was rewarded with that 2-year NHL contract. There’s no waiverss to consider here. And that’s my main argument for either buying out or burying Unisalo barring a trade. I mean, it’s possible that a team could come in and scoop him up in a trade if the Bruins add a bit of a sweetener. We’ll take a look at that option coming up. But you cannot risk putting Michael DPro through waiverss and he would almost certainly be claimed if that were the course of action that Don Sweeney decided to take. If you try to put Corbos through waiverss for the purpose of assignment to Providence, the chances are slim that he would be claimed. And if that were to happen, that would be a gift because someone’s just taken him. You cannot risk putting DPro in the miners and having him scooped up for nothing. You can do that with Corvvisalo. And in fact, it would be a blessing if he were indeed claimed.

The Boston Bruins cannot risk losing Michael DiPietro on waivers after his breakout season in Providence (.927 SV%, AHL Goaltender of the Year).

That’s why the solution is simple: waive or dump Joonas Korpisalo. If another team claims him, it’s a gift. If not, he goes to Providence and DiPietro gets the NHL backup job he’s earned.
