This is GENUINELY Insane…
This is genuinely insane as we have a new Pelicans update regarding a wild trade report surrounding the New Orleans Pelicans and another Western Conference team. And we are going to go over what that is, discuss all the implications behind that situation amidst multiple updates to the New Orleans Pelicans. And we are going to jump right into that guys. But before we get started, if you’re part of that 50% that’s not subscribed to Pelicans Digest, make sure to subscribe. We have daily New Orleans Pelicans updates you do not want to miss out on. We’re having a lot of fun on this channel right now and with everything happening with the NBA about to really get underway with all this stuff surrounding the training camps, the media day that’s upcoming. There’s a lot of stuff to look forward to and a lot of news that is going to be coming out very soon with the NBA season getting very close to being back in swing. I know it still feels like a couple months out, but it’s really not. Things are starting to heat up. NBA 2K is finally here as well. There’s a lot to talk about in regards to the NBA. And let’s jump right into it. As we know, the New Orleans Pelicans are the center of a lot of attention right now. Considering the fact that the Pelicans have made it very clear they’re trying to contend after a god- aful season last year, there’s a lot of discussion surrounding how they’re going to do that and moves that they’re going to make going forwards and if they’re going to continue to try to keep that winning environment, which they have to have for a year considering that whole trade that involves a draft pick that they don’t really have control of next year at all. So with that in mind, obviously things are getting a little bit crazy for the New Orleans Pelicans right now and they have to try to win basketball games. And now in a wild trade update, we are seeing something that nobody saw coming with the New Orleans Pelicans and a trade target as recently we saw a trade update that involved the New Orleans Pelicans receiving PJ Washington, Max Christie, Olivier Maxends Prosper, a 2029 first round pick via the Lakers, and a 2032 first round pick that’s top three protected in exchange for none other than Trey Murphy. Obviously, this is a wild trade because this is a lot to give up for Trey Murphy for the Dallas Mavericks, but it’s also around what the price is. With Murphy on a new contract and everything sort of looking the way it is, the Pelicans would be asking for a ton. And getting Max Christie, getting PJ Washington, getting Prosper, getting two first round picks, that’s around the price that I would be willing to pay for Trey Murphy when it comes to being like open to the idea of sending him off to a new team. And even so, obviously, there is going to be a lot of stuff behind the whole Trey Murphy situation. Now, as mentioned by Zack Buckley, it’ll be a sad day in New Orleans when this franchise accepts its snake bitten fate and bales on this court. On paper, a roster featuring Murphy, Zion Williamson, Dejante Murray, Jordan Pool, and Herbert Jones seems capable of some really fun and maybe some really successful basketball. But this is about to be season seven of the Zion Williamson era. And the Pel’s tally to this point is two playoff trips and zero series wins. and they arguably had a better co-star for those campaigns than they will for this one in Brandon Ingram. Maybe their luck is just never changing. On top of that, Buckley mentions that New Orleans felt like it could pivot into any direction this off season and maybe a slow start is all it takes to plunge this organization into overhaul. Murphy, who’s either a star role player or perhaps simply a rising star, would fetch a small mountain of assets. The picks are the obvious prizes, but Christy took a big step this past season. And Washington works as either a solid starter or a potential bridge to additional assets closer to the trade deadline, which is absolutely true. PJ Washington last year with Dallas was very, very good. He was good with Charlotte. He got traded to Dallas and he was way better there. Now playing with a team that he became a nice lob threat for, is 27 years old, hitting the prime of his career, putting up 15 points per game and eight rebounds with two assists. He’s getting a block per game. He’s getting a steal per game. defense has been solid. He absolutely destroys the Oklahoma City Thunder at any time they play for really no reason at all. He shoots 54 or 45% from the field and 38% from three. Washington is a very, very well-rounded power forward who you can use in a multitude of situations, but he really is a starting level player on a championship team. He’s nothing to sneeze at when you acquire a guy like PJ Washington. Obviously, there’s other questions considering Zion Williamson, who is the Pelicans franchise player and also their starting power forward at the same time. Williamson in 28 minutes per game last year, put up 24 and a half points, seven rebounds, and five assists. He was getting a block shot per game, getting a steal per game, shooting 56% and from the field. He is a dominant force whose defense has continued to get better. We know how great Zion is when he gets on the floor. But the problem is is he’s usually not on the floor, and that has caused some significant issues with the Pelicans, leading to a lot more losses. When Zion’s healthy, the Pelicans are a lot better, but when he’s hurt, things are not going as well. Now, the Pelicans would also be acquiring Max Christie, who is still getting better as an NBA player. He’s still only 22 years old. And last season between the Lakers and the Mavs and getting more minutes on the Mavs. He put up nine and a half points per game, three rebounds and two assists. He’s becoming a solid defender as well who’s a good three-point shooter, 36% from three, and that should be climbing while he also shot 38% on corner threes and around 43% from the field. Max Christie is a very, very solid player and a nice young piece to acquire in a trade as well where Trey Murphy is getting moved off of. Now, at the same time, when you look at Murphy, he’s obviously a phenomenal player. Last year, the 25-year-old put up 21 points per game, five rebounds, and three and a half assists. He got a steal per game, as an excellent dunker, shot 44% on corner threes, and 36% from the three-point line. Look, with Trey Murphy specifically, when it comes down to him and just this whole situation, it’s one of these things where you sort of have to wonder, do you move him because maybe, just maybe, the great year was because of a lack of other options and Trey Murphy kind of got his options elevated a little bit more. Now, with Zion, with Jordan Pool, with Deontay Murray back, is it going to be tougher for Trey Murphy to get those same opportunities? The the short answer is yes. Now again, Brandon Ingram was there for a while and we still saw Murphy get his touches and get his opportunities, but now there’s going to be a lot more guys and it’s going to lead to Trey Murphy having the ball a little bit less. And if you move him to a team like Dallas where he would become a vi a third option, a clear-cut third option behind Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving, given Kyrie’s also hurt for the first half of the year. So when you consider that Murphy’s going to have a bigger option in Dallas at least for a bit, then he will win New Orleans this year and a better chance to win most likely. So, when it comes down to it, if Trey Murphy’s open to this, it would make sense. But we also have to consider the fact that we’re not too open to this. I mean, looking at the depth chart, we see a team that does look very good. I hate I hate this chart. It’s just it’s completely incorrect. I know DeJonte’s at the end because the injury, but it’s going to be Murray and then starting with him is going to be one of Jordan Pool or Herb Jones in the back court and then Trey Murphy’s going to be there and then Zion and then Eves Missy is going to be the starting five. This has potential to be a good basketball team. There’s good backups like Jose Alvarado. There’s Jeremiah Fears now who’s looking like he could really become something. Obviously, Cavon Looney is a good veteran to have. There’s a lot of nice pieces on this team. Sadique Bay is a solid bench player as well. This is not a bad team at all like it was last season. Even last season, it wasn’t a bad team. It was an injured team. And if the Pelicans can stay healthy, they can definitely make some noise, but the question is, can they stay healthy? What is that going to look like? What is the health thing going to look like? We also look at a guy like Olivier Max since Prosper who’ also become part of this trade who has only played 92 games in his career and has not had crazy averages. He mainly is in here for salary reasons but at the same time he does jump out as a guy you could try to build off of and see if you can get something out of him. He is still young. The Canadian does have some talent in his NBA game. It’s a matter of if he could get that three-point shot down. That’s going to be the complete complete real tell on Prosper going forwards. And also when we just look at everything, when we look at the Dallas Mavericks, it makes sense why they would want to do this trade. Get more depth at that position, at that wing position, forward position, wherever you want to play him. But him obviously being, you know, Trey Murphy. Do you want him behind Cooper Flag? What do you want here? He’d probably end up being a six-man on this team, which is also something to be aware of. But again, with Kyrie Irving out, like it’s going to be D’Angelo Russell at the one. So there would be some scoring opportunities there for Trey Murphy. There’s going to be a lot to look at for this team going forwards. I mean, PJ Washington is now eligible for a four-year contract extension. I took the screenshot yesterday. So, he’s now eligible for a four-year contract extension worth $90 million. So, that’s something also be very aware of going forwards if you are to trade for Washington. But guys, I want to know what you think. Let me know in the comments down below. It's a good trade in value but PJ is the best piece in the deal. Max is nice and has hella upside, but you'd be moving more towards win now. Instead of staying young, and we've been hovering between for a while now.
Even if you move on from the Zion Era it makes Trey, Murray, Herb, Messi, & the two rooks give you a future…
Garbage
I’ve never hated anyone more then you in my life. You are just such an idiot. Mavs would do this trade in a heartbeat and Pelicans fan would riot
This better not be real
Nobody cares about what you saying …media been pumping the Pels for years…they asked our superstar what's our chances of winning the play in in Vegas a few years back….his answer ? He looked at Ingram and bust out laughing of course he was close to 300 LBS. He is still here not because they don't want him gone but simply because they can't get a decent offer for him everything else is just fluff fluff and more fluff
Ain't happening!!
You develope Troy Murphy just to trade him?
Troy Murphy for Cam thomas that would be a even trade and upgrade.
Solid return for Trey. I like Trey but he’s not a great defender and outside of his shooting when it’s working what else does he have? He’s too light in the ass to be posting up on the block
Dumb idea.
Fake news by Rich Paul.
I hate when Pelicans channels talk about bullshyt like this. If you've been paying any attention to Pelicans social media you'd know that this is bullshyt that some writer is pulling out his azz just to have something to write. Trey Murphy is ALL OVER Pelicans social media, so why talk about this shyt? I'd rather yall talk about nothing, then hear yall talking about something that you know for A FACT that's not gonna happen!!!
This looks like a Bleacher Report hypothetical ,
and NOT the result of genuine fact-finding.
Unsubscribed from this click-bait nonsense.
Go Pels!
We cannot trade Trey
Hey mate, great video. Fast and straight to the point… 👍 Obviously Murphy trade is on the cards. but not for 2 x 1st rounds… but they gonna have to stick to the guy. Pels need offence that can bail them out via 3s.
Lmao
The Mavs would never do this trade. The pics alone are likely worth just as much if not more than Trey Murphy. Dude has never been an all star or an all nba player. I know the Pels like him but the second they receive this they should accept and run to the league for final blessing.
GIMME TREY MURPHY NOW!
I mean this in the most mean way possible …. Fuck outta here we are not trading yall pj Washington
All we have for yall is Caleb Martin take it or leave it mf
Why tf would the mavericks give up all that for Trey Murphy?
Yall got us fucked up
We can give yall Caleb Martin Dwight Powell and a second or 2 maximum
Mad asf this video popped up on my home page
A bunch of bs
Yall have good content sometimes but the titles are too clickbaity
Chill out a lil bit
