Giants vs. Rockies Game Highlights (9/1/25) | MLB Highlights

Labor Day Monday in Denver, Colorado. As the calendar turns to September, the Giants start a road trip and a three-game series here at Korsfield. It’s the Giants and the Colorado Rockies. The Giants have been interesting because they had lost 11 of 13. Since then, they’ve won seven of eight. And in those eight games, they’re playing really, really well. They’re averaging 7.6 runs per game. They’re hitting 367 with runners in scoring position, homering in 14 straight games. They’re five back of that final wildcard spot. Chase Dolander, as Warren Schaefer talked about, everything is there. It’s just maybe a little bit. And it’s we’ve seen John Gray, for example, a guy his first year almost season and a half, he he just did not like pitching here at all. And and I think Warren Schaefer said it right. Just got to get that out of your head and just make it a baseball game. not make it a course field game or road game, just make it a baseball game. And we know this with Chase Dander, all the ingredients are there. It’s just a matter of consistency for this young pitcher. And it’s a good start for Chase to Hopper to Tovar. It’ll throw out Ramos. Ramos retired. And now Rafi Devers, who’s the DH today. Another big game for him yesterday. De smashes that one to right field and it is gone. Wow, that got out real fast. Hard to hit a ball much harder than that. How about that for a start to this road trip and the month of September? That’s Perry Bondslike. Giants now have the longest streak for any team in MLB this year. That is indeed their 15th straight game with at least one home run. It took him two hitters today. Right-handed starter Kaiway Tang. Yeah, 26-year-old going to get the start this afternoon. And the numbers don’t look pretty there. And it’s just he’s just trying to find his bearings. He’s been the callup guy a lot of times. First pitch swing out towards right and Drew Gilbert playing at Coorsfield for the first time. And he’s just trying to get it right. And that’s what you want is first pitch outs, quick outs. Here’s Tang’s pitch and a swing and a little pop up into shallow center racing in Lee. Still on the move into a slide and he makes the catch. You got to be able to cover ground in the outfield of course. Jung Hu Lee with a sliding grab in shallow center. That was a nice play. Out number two. Now Goodman with a sky high fly ball to left. Ramos makes it there. So work for all three outfielders getting settled in here at Kors Field and a perfect bottom of the first for Kai Tang. So now Lee the base runner with one out for Casey Schmidt. This is deep in the hole. Tobar gets one there on the first in time. That’s a fancy 643. Good work. The lead off walk does not hurt. Chase Olander in this second inning. Solid single there for Tovar. Hit it 104 mph and they’re on to the corners now with one away. A two to Kyle. Did he go? Yes, he did. Says Phil Kuzy. The umpire at first says that’s a swing. Caros is in disbelief and that’s a big strike out for Kaiwe Tang. Two gone in the inning. Got it right on the outside corner for strike three. He found the curveball. He found it there just fine. Three punch outs in the in top of the third inning. One- nothing still Giants. Switchhitting catcher Patrick Bailey leads off. That one’s got Bailey on the foot. The literal back foot breaking ball for a leadoff base runner. Now Drew Gilbert. Now this is V on ball right now. They played together for three years at Tennessee between 2020 and 2022. Bailey running start. Dolander just didn’t even look at all. And I don’t know why Hunter Goodman made a throw. That was excellent base running by Patrick Bailey. So that was the old get hit in the foot, steal second base trick. Works every time. Patrick Baileyy’s first stolen base of the season. So puts that man in scoring position with nobody out. Gilbert high drive right field against his old buddy. It is gone. takes him deep. His second big league home run. Three nothing Giants. Stay hot. Drew Gilbert after three hits yesterday in his first atbat today playing here at Kors Field for the first time. He crushes a two-run home run to right. And it’s three nothing Giants. And again, the Rockies able to set the table. Two on, one out. And here comes Hunter Goodman. He got him to chase. Strike three. Back to that sweeper. And another strike out for Kaiwe Tang. His last five outs have all been strikeouts. Got him. Another strike out for Tang. And another good sweeper. Kaiwe Tang’s got six strikeouts in his first three innings. Another opportunity for the Rockies. Two on and two out. So far just one for six with runners in scoring position. He got him to chase. Strike three. Swinging. Two hits but no runs. That’s four shut out innings for Kaiwe Tang. Casey Schmidt the second baseman leading off against Chase Dolander. Oh gosh. Oh man. Casey. Nobody takes I mean Ramos gets hit a lot but nobody gets hit in worse spots than Casey Schmidt. He is in some real pain right now. As Dave Gresner comes out. So does the manager Bob Melvin. They got him in the funny bone. And there’s nothing funny about it. When you get hit by a pitch there, it hurts for I don’t know 10, 15, 20 minutes and the next day. Second hit by pitch this game for Golander. Schmidt’s going to stay in the game. Just now making his way to first base. One out for Drew Gilbert. Christian CS is coming out and Schmidt is holding that right arm close to his body. That that’s not good. So Christian CS is the pinch runner. And now before Gilbert bats, CS is going to start and stop and then the ball is hit right through the open hole on the right side. CS stumbles coming around second and he’ll belly flop into third. Gilbert having the better of Chase Dolander. Now it’s Willie Adam with the bases loaded. Two outs. Chance for the Giants to extend their lead. 3-2 is ball four inside. He draws the walk. It’s four nothing Giants. Make them pay. You get the runners on, you get them around. Find a way. When you’re a hot team, you will find a way to get it done. Yeah, just one hit in the inning for all the traffic and he’s not out of trouble yet. Dominic Smith has flyed to left and grounded to second. A check swing roller down the third base line. Fair ball. Gilbert’s in. Here comes Divers. The throw’s going to second and he is out, but the ball I thought the ball came out. Maybe that was a piece of equipment. Adamus broke home, but Dom Smith is out at second. So, it was the thumb guard, not the ball, that flew up in the air. That being a nice play from the left fielder Beck to throw out Smith at second, but not before the Giants end up with three more runs in the inning. They extend their lead here in Denver to the bottom of the fifth. It’s now 6 nothing Giants. One out. A solid single for Brentton Doyle. They’ve had the first or second batter of an inning on base in the last five innings and haven’t been able to do anything with it. And this is down the right field line and it’s going to drop down. Gilbert’s got to go against the wall to make the play. It’ll be a double for Tovo Holmes at third. That is career double number 100 for Ezekiel Tovar. Nolan Aronado, the only other young Rocky, meaning under the age of 25 to get to 100 doubles. That will be the final moment for Tang in this game who did a great job. Pagarro coming in. Tang getting an ovation from Giants fans over the third base dugout as he leaves the field. Nicely done. Pitching change. Right-hander Yoel Pagarro comes on. Kyle Keros will be the hitter. Runners at second and third. One out. This is chipped to third. It’ll get a run home. Keros with an RBI ground out. Two guy as Dy goes to the dugout. It’s six to one. Yel Fernandez the DH with two down. This ball slicing to deep left center field. It is over the head of Lee and Yak has made it a six-2 game. Starting Spilly to use the whole ballpark. You maybe it was something about getting in front of Yordon last week in Houston cuz now he’s keeping both hands on the bat which allows him to drive straight through it. Rando rings up de for Molina. That’s backto-back strikeouts after the leadoff hit. Will Adamus 0 for two with a walk. Adamus out to left field with some carry back at the wall. Gone. Number 26 for Willie Adamus. Giants get those two runs right back. It’s 8-2. What a great answer right there. Runner gets in scoring position. Give Gilbert. I’m giving him the assist. Kind of rattles the cage a little bit on Molina. And you get a 1-1 curveball. So he’s loving on him when he got to home plate and he should be. Big hugs. Come on. You got to show off the payload. What are we doing? Get the helmet off the kid. There we go. There’s one. Uhhuh. Uhuh. Giants and out away. They lead eight-2. Bottom of the ninth inning. Tyler Freeman pops it up. Who wants it? Coff and Smith come together. And it’ll be Dom Smith to put it away to finish off a Giants win. They’ve had to make a long steady climb to get back there, but they’re at 500 with 24 games to go. 69 and 69.

  1. CHAPMAN did that to Drews neck because he is a professional baseball player that takes this game seriously, when Doval was giving up runs and his body language was little league like Chapman starred him down

  2. For two months they were swinging at BBs, now beach balls. Baseball is weird.
Would have taken the over/under 26 HRs for Adames back in May June? He could get 30. More weirdness.
