A’s vs. Cardinals Game Highlights (9/2/25) | MLB Highlights
Yeah. Mega start number 27 on the season is Miles Michael. It was a nice bounceback outing for him. We went five innings, gave up one earned run, walked one, and struck out five against the Pirates. Remember the one prior to that he struggled in Tampa Bay lasting only two and two/3. And look, Miles Michaels is a pitch maker. That’s going to be the biggest key for him. Is he locating on the corners? Is he able to bury his breaking stuff when he needs to? And here is Brent Rooker, the designated hitter. Rooker five for his last 14, hitting 270. 27 homers, 80 driven in in the air to center and Victor hardly had to move. Miles Michael three up, three down. Nice start for him. Severino 6 and 11, 4.82 RA is back off the IIL. Dar does it again. A leadoff hit. He laces that baby to left. His eighth hit in his last 14 trips to the plate. And a good start for the Cardinals. Herrera hit a home run to Big Macland in the game yesterday. She went one out of three. Two and0 to Ivon Herrera. One hopper to the shortstop. Wilson gets rid of it quickly to second. Gell off to first and a 643 double play for Severino and the A’s defense. Wilson Contrus on the ground to his left. Tern throws to first and a six pitch inning for Luis Severino. He faces the minimum. That brings in Jay Langalers, the catcher, 27 years old. One, two, driven to left center field alley. That’s going to roll for a while. Moving over to get it is Scott Langalers pushing for second base. He will slide in safely with a one out double. So for Shay Langers, his 24th double of the year. And you can’t even say he runs well for a catcher. He runs well for anybody. And now it’s Lawrence Butler. He is hit safely in five straight. Swing and a drive. Victor on the run. Slowing and on the middle of the warning track makes the catch. Langelers doesn’t tag and he jumps on the first one. Pops it up left side. Who wants it? It’ll be Mason Win and Miles Michaels gives up a double. Nothing else. Nolan Gorman leads off facing Luis Severino. Three and two to Gorman and he goes down on strikes with a sweeper. First strike out for Severino. First out in the bottom of the second. Two-2. Langelier is able to hang on to the fast ball that was tipped into his glove. Backto back Ks for Severino. Second strike out for Severino looking good. Two down. And here is Jimmy Krooks, the catcher. 3-2 pitch. That strike three called at the knees. Down he goes. So Crook strikes out as Severino strikes out the side. Top of the third, no score in the game. JJ Blade will lead things off. JJ Blade on the first pitch. A line drive over Contrarus and into the right field corner. It’s misplayed by Church. Blade takes a turnaround second. He will land at third with a leadoff extra base hit. Church’s first big league error as Beday jumped on the first pitch he saw here in the top of the third inning in a scoreless game. And the Athletics threatening here in the third inning. Here is Nick Curts with a runner around third and one out. out. One pitch driven to right center field. That’s trouble. Church going back. It will one hop the wall and Curts into second base standing up as BL scores. The first run of the game. It’s one to nothing A’s. That ball was scalded off the bat of Curts. And the Cardinals need to have a response to that run that the Athletics got in the top half of this inning. Good to have this kid back. This is an important final month for him, Brad. He missed two weeks or so with that ankle trying to make a great play up against the wall. And that one shot to the left side and through for a base hit. Love to see that. Victor Scott goes the other way. The Cardinals have two singles. Lot of room in left center for Nathan. Pitch hammered up the middle. That’s through for a base hit. Look at Victor go. He’s on his way to third. So Church has his first hit of the series. The Cardinals threaten now. First and third and one man out. And the Cardinals do have something going here in the bottom of the third inning for Large Nbar who singled his first time. Throw to first and they got him. Just an incredible pivot by Severino on the mound. When I jokingly talk about how athletic these guys are, I know it’s tongue and cheek a lot of the time, but to be able to move this quickly at Sevy’s size with his feet. Severino did a very fast move and extremely quick feet to get rid of that ball and get the throw right on time and he was out. All right. Bouncing ball to second. Gellof right there. Throws to first and that will retire the side. Luis Severino faces four in the third. Posts another zero. Miles Michael here in the fifth will face Gellof Glade and Hern a leading one to nothing. line drive, base hit down the left field line that’ll tuck into the corner. Gellof has another extra base hit and will pull up at second base with a leadoff double. That’s the third straight leadoff hit for the A’s offense tonight. And Gellof continuing to see it well. Contact off the end just like that. Gorman to third and a quick pick to first in time. Two outs. The Athletics one for eight tonight with runners in scoring position. They’re not looking, the Cardinals anywhere are not looking to give them a chance to better that. They’re going to walk Nick Curts here. So, an intentional walk issue to Curts and they’re going to take their chances with Jacob Wilson who’s grounded out to third on his first two at bats this evening. Jammed and little pop for me is out. He’s under. Hayes got it. We go to the bottom of the fifth. It’s a one- nothing ball game. The A’s lead a good game. Five, six, and seven to face Severino. 2-2. Lynn lifts it to left field. Sodestrom going back traveling as far as he can go and at the wall he brings it in. Here is Jose Fermine who flyed out to the right fielder Beday in the third inning 0 for one called strike three at the top of the zone executed his sweeper well and another one two three inning for Severino and that’s the fourth strike out for Severino. What a job by the right-hander. So Severino fresh off the oblique problem is done after five. This is Hogan Harris showed butt and takes outside. So Victor has singled and he has walked. Victor Scott on to lead things off and that’s where things can get a little bit fun. He shows butt. This one a beauty underhand shovel and they get church who’s down on the sacrifice. Gays have a one- nothing lead. We’re in the bottom of the sixth inning. There’s two outs and the right-hander Kelly on to face the right-hand hitter Von Herrera. swing and a drive hit high in the air left center. Butler on the run. Goodbye. A two-run homer. A two-run shot. And just like that, the Cardinals turn a one-run deficit into a one-run lead. It’s 2-1 Redbirds. I told you, partner, you issue a walk. You’re asking to get beat. And Herrera hits another homer. Jim, we showed you the numbers before the game. The last 12 for Ivon Herrera. Boy, he had been heating up home runs now in backto back games. What a pretty swing. Lawrence Butler will lead things off. The Ace trailing for the first time, two to one. So Swanson takes over here as Michael pretty tough. Six innings, five hits in a run. Swing and a miss. That’s the calling card for Matt. A cutter gets Butler who strikes out for the 157th time. One out, swing, fly ball right, pretty well hit. Church going back but stops on the track. A one, two, three, seven for Swanson. Jojo Romero is the new pitcher on for the Cardinals. So Romero will face Soderstrom. 2-1 Cardinals. Top of the ninth inning. On the ground to second. That should be the first out. And it is. Romero gets Sodrom on the ground. Strike three. Look at the break on that pitch. Wow. Langers caught looking. Two out. Here’s Thomas. Last chance for the A’s on the ground is short. That should do it. Mason win a strike. What a game. Cardinals beat the Athletics 2-1. Michael Swanson, Romero, and Herrera, the Magic Man in game two.

What happened to our offense?
UNDISPUTED Manager of the Year Oliver Jose Marmol and his St. Louis Cardinals (the GREATEST team in the league) post-LABOR DAY worked their butts off for ANOTHER triumph, proving they're the HOTTEST team since All-Star Break. The squad is going 91-71, TAKING the NL Central, MAKING the postseason once again and in one/two months (depending on when the games are in October/November), HOISTING a World Series trophy for the unprecedented TWELFTH time!
In the top of the fourth inning, a FILTHY #SCTOP10 double play as second baseman José Miguel Fermín FIRED to shortstop Masyn Blaze Winn who then HURLED to a teammate at first base, SHOWING the STL is not only the best offensively, but defensively, too.
Iván Aaron Herrera, OMFG !! In the bottom of the sixth inning, the 25-year-old from Panama City, Panama, gets the offense rolling by DEMOLISHING A BOMB to center field, driving in Victor Dwanyne Scott II.
Ladies and gentlemen, HOOT AND HOLLER for Miles Tice Mikolas, the 37-year-old from Jupiter, Florida! LIZARD KING was ready to POUND ON THE MOUND tonight! CAP TIPS go to Matthew Patrick Svanson and Joseph Abel "Jojo" Romero, both part of the best bullpen in the league, for the SPECTACULAR defense!
TIME TO FLY !!!!!!!!!!!!!! #12in25 #STLFLY
