What does Lourdes Gurriel Jr. tearing his ACL mean for the Diamondbacks moving forward? #mlb

We might have seen the last of Lordis Guriel Jr. as a diamond back. Yeah, he’s next year is the last year of his next next year is that he’s got a player option for next year and then it’s a club option after that. So assuming he picks up the player option, which probably will going into next season. If he doesn’t return next year, then that’s probably the end of Lordis Gel’s career, which which is kind of AJ Puck, I think, is in the same situation where depending on when he comes back, maybe we’ve seen him. Here’s the complicating part is is that if you’re going into next year and I’ve been a big advocate of hey you’ve got Catel, you’ve got Corbin Carroll, you’ve got Perdomo, you kind of have to try to keep winning and going for it. Yeah, you do. You’ve got so many holes to fill. If you’re Mike Hazen, you need a powerhitting run producing left fielder, which don’t come cheap. You need starting pitching galore, which don’t come cheap. You still need bullpin arms. Maybe you’ve solved some of that with the trades that you’ve made and what you’ve done. You know what the answer is though? Money. You’re gonna have to trade one of your star players. You have to trade somebody. You’re going to have to trade a top prospect or you’re going to have to trade somebody on the roster right now to kind of shuffle that shuffle that around a little bit. Yeah. It’s either that or spend spend spend. I don’t think that that’s going to happen. And they’re already paying guys despite you know Corbin Burns on the role next year. Lordis Goreiel Jr. He’s on the payroll next year. AJ Puck, Justin Martinez, they’re all on the payroll next year. So it’s it’s you’re going to have to trade. This is not who. Okay. Who? Like Lawler Catel. Lawler Catel. You ain’t trading Purdomo. You ain’t trading Corbin. Either McCarthy or Alec Thomas. That’s not going to get you a ton of return. I know, but I’ve got to I got to shuffle the deck. You said it. If you’re trying to be competitive, you’re going to have to trade a big big piece. Yeah, that’s Catel. If you want to be competitive, you’d have to let Are you competitive if you trade Katel? I don’t know. Because you you you weaken yourself at second base to make yourself better somewhere else. You weaken your lineup. You weaken your lineup. You’re robbing robbing Peter to pay Paul. I know you are. But could you get could you get two players for him? Hence the difficult situation you’re in. You know, you’re very difficult. Lier hit a home run last night, but I’m not convinced that he’s your first baseman. I don’t know what would lead you to convince. I mean, Lola I mean Lola can’t hit major league pitching. He just cannot hit major league pitching. Something happens. He like that turns into the pumpkin at midnight. He just can’t hit major league pitches. Look, as much as I want them to compete next year and to try to compete next year, it’s almost getting to the point where you just wonder if that’s just not a realistic option for 2026. As much as it sucks to say that right now, given the blows that they’ve taken in terms of the the money that they’re doing out to guys who are just not going to be available, are they is are they forced into next year being a rebuilding year, whether they want it to be that or
